Maybe or they all bust except one who becomes an average major league but nothing close to Chris. Obviously impossible to project that's why trading him is so damn risky.

 

True, but no one involved would really need to become Chris Sale. If most of them were above replacement level, it would still be a huge win for us given the number of holes we have.

Unless we get 3 stud prospects not marginal ones back to start forget about It. Sale's age and contract have to be maximized in any deal. Hahn holds all the cards. If that happens and the sorry shape of the Sox farm system, Hahn would have a real tough decision to make.

The DBacks have already said they aren't trading Bradley, so I guess we can just forget this. Of course, the Sox have said they aren't trading Sale, yet we're still talking about that too.

Both sides have said it's unlikely or they'd be surprised if they're traded....If you leave the door open, people will talk.

While Towers was quick to say that no player is untouchable, he sounded loath to part with prized pitching prospect Archie Bradley, a consensus Top 10 MLB prospect. Asked about the possiblity of trading Bradley, he replied:

 

"I don't see that happening. Not that anybody is untouchable, but we're hoping he's our David Price, and we can control him [for several years]. He's gonna get every opportunity to crack our rotation this spring ... He's not looking to make our rotation as the fifth guy -- he's looking to make it as the ace."

 

Sounds like, much like Sale, while they are not looking to move him, they would in the right deal.

I've softened my stance on trading Sale a little bit. Its still going to take a ton, but it almost has to be considered. Its a chance to change the entire landscape of the franchise in a positive way. I love Sale as much as the next guy, but this franchise has a serious void of talent and he represents a way to change that.

 

I will be honest that its hard to find organizations that fit the bill as far as trade partners for Sale go. Arizona, Yankees, Seattle, and ????

 

Getting a lot of good pieces for Sale is a very tempting thought, but at the end of the day, even if the trade helps you win more games, you need a stud ace to win you those playoff games once you get there, and while the Sox have a lot of nice arms in the system, none of them is ever going to match Sale.

Not sure how they make sense since their minor league isn't that great Gotta be talking Justin Upton or Heyward, one of their current starting pitchers, Avilon or Venters, Bethancourt, and Lucas.....or make it some crazy 3 team deal.

Simmons, Tommy La Stella and Teheran is a pretty good start but I would definitely need another potential power bat in the OF or 3B back as well. They do have plenty of arms so a 3 team deal does make sense where they send someone like Sims or Graham to a 3rd team and we get a top level hitting prospect back.

During that second half of 2005 through the first half of 2006, there is no doubt about it. The guy was as a good as it got.

It wasnt any given moment though. His numbers for almost a calender year were that of an ace. He wasnt inconsistent at all, he was straight up dominant.

 

Before the 05 break, and after the 06 break it was the inconsistent guy. But he absolutely elevated his game to an Ace.

Didn't the Count break the record for most decisions won in a row? It was like 15 or something. He was definitely an ace.
