May 22, 201411 yr QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:48 AM) He has 9 at bats the last 12 days. Should be in AAA
May 22, 201411 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Should be in AAA I would rather them keep an extra reliever here, and put Marcus at AAA. I really want him playing every day.
May 22, 201411 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) I would rather them keep an extra reliever here, and put Marcus at AAA. I really want him playing every day. Especially because he legitimately has things to work on. Chiefly, how to hone his approach to make the most out of his plate discipline.
May 22, 201411 yr I'm firmly in the Marcus as our future camp but at this stage he isn't getting the ABs to progress his development and as Eminor has said he does need to work on leveraging his ability to go deep in the count more, even if it is against washouts and AAAA pitchers.

May 22, 201411 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 22, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) Where is Semien going to play at Charlotte with Davidson, Johnson, Saladino, and Sanchez there already? He can play SS everyday. Semien is a bigger priority to me than anyone else but Davidson who is at AAA right now.
May 22, 201411 yr Have him shag some balls for a week. That should at least get him to ADA's level in the OF, and work him in all over. Guys are going to need a break. He should get a little time with Abreu out, shifting others to DH. It is amazing how few LH starting pitchers the White Sox have faced this season. Edited May 22, 201411 yr by Dick Allen

May 22, 201411 yr Yeah you don't sit this guy. If they aren't going to clear a spot for him by jettisoning a vet then he needs to play every day in Charlotte. I mean not only is he not getting PAs but he's accruing service time. Why? Sox are idiots good % of the time these days.

Sox are idiots good % of the time these days. Who isn't going to play everyday in Charlotte then though? I agree that Semien needs to be in Charlotte. Micah Johnson is at 2B every day. Matt Davidson is at 3B every day. Carlos Sanchez is also there. Would they do something with Dan Black and just have one of the infielders DH? I know it's easy for us to say that Semien trumps all and should be at SS down there but that leaves Carlos Sanchez and Tyler Saladino with nowhere to play.

Who are the three infielders most likely to become major league starters? Those are the three guys who need to be starting at 2B/SS/3B for Charlotte. The rest can either DH at Charlotte or start at Birmingham.

May 22, 201411 yr Another way to look at it...Robin rarely uses backups. In AAA they can find playing time for 4 guys at 3 positions if each guy takes an offday every couple days. In the big leagues that just is not happening.
May 22, 201411 yr Moot point for the time being as they sent out Frankie Franciso. He has had only one good appearance. Does tis mean Carroll is seen as a spot starter and long relief? Or are other moves pending? Edited May 22, 201411 yr by elrockinMT

May 22, 201411 yr This begs the question to any insiders on this board. Would a player rather be in AAA playing every day knowing the big league team does like him and has plans for him in the future, or playing Semien's current role. My guess is they'd rather be in the majors at any costs, screw the everyday work.

That won't be a consideration in the team's decision, though.

Given the salary, the travel conditions, and the fact that the future is never promised, every single player would rather be in the majors.
May 22, 201411 yr He should definitely be in Charlotte. Send Black or Wilkins back to BHAM, neither are hitting much anyway. You could even send Tekotte elsewhere. That gets him and the rest of the actual prospects some reps. This is all short-term anyway though. By end of July, the Sox will have traded one or two infielders, I'd bet money on it.
