chitownsportsfan
Game was delayed (some would say wrongly) over 40 minutes to start and then another 1:58 minutes after the first three innings. Finished up around 1am local time. Sale for 40 pitches 3IP 0H 0R 4K 1BB was owning but got screwed by mother nature. With the 4 k's and 1 walk he actually lowered his k to walk ratio, now that's when you know you're owning fools. Gillaspie with the clutch RBI in the rain now doing his best Ty Cobb at 353/399/468 including another good AB verse a lefty. Seriously Rick Hahn crack a beer on this one. Conor is also playing a fine 3B, he has a nice quick pivot and fairly soft hands. Beckham! Good problem to have either he plays himself on or off the team, much like Dunn continues to rebound, which yea, we got that going for us. Had a great throw to complete the DP in the 8th Bullpen was excellent on the whole. Carroll continues his smoke and mirror show but great for him I think he only needs another week or two to get his pension. For a guy on the absolute fringe of the roster he's done a good job, he could have imploded tonight but bore down. Konerko with 3 pathetic ground balls, was continually behind then showed a real damn sign of life just to be robbed by bourjos or whatever his name is. Great play by Cleveland to save a critical 2 runs. Sox are now 27-27, 15-12 at home and ... are tied with a couple other teams for 5th best in the AL at .500. Run differential isn't where you want it, mostly do to run prevention, but hey... we are now nearly 1/3 of the way through the season and despite all that has gone injury wise this Sox team is showing real signs of life. BigHurt3515
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!! I love winning!! Great job by the pitching staff minus 1 guy. I will give credit where credit is due, Beckham has been awesome, really hope he keeps it up. Conor is slowly becoming one of my favorite guys on the team.. Win tomorrow and finally get over that hump. Keep on battling around .500 until big Jose comes back and we could have a nice run in us! Oh and get rid of Downs before he blows every game he enters. There has to be some other lefty that can actually get out left handed batters.
greg775
Lotta heroes but I'll pick the last one. Bella looked great. He was calm, in command, threw strikes. Nice bounceback from the Yankee disaster. Funny how bad Cleveland looks this year compared to a year ago. I'll take it tho.

Bigsoxhurt35
Went to bed couldn't stay up for this one. Glad to see the pen do a fantastic job. How did belly look? Box score says good.
flavum
Beckham is looking very 2009-like. He doesn't have a goofy stance where he looks like he's trying to cheat. He's squaring pitches up and the ball is flying off his bat. There's been so much badness the last 4 seasons, but he's becoming fun to watch again...at least for now. cabiness42
12 more days until Scott Carroll earns his pension. There aren't any pitchers expected back from the DL that soon, are there? Seems like he's a good bet to reach that 12 days and probably more.

witesoxfan
I saw they won 2-1 and was hoping they went to Belisario. Yeah, just 1-2-3.

The team really doesn't have a long man and with Rienzo, Danks and Noesi making up 3/5ths of our rotation we really need a guy that can take it on the chin and eat some innings when those three inevitably lay an egg. Yes, they need Carroll in the pen. 180 innings from the bullpen-- averaging 3 1/3 per game. That should improve with Sale back, but this current rotation may have to play out the season. They're going to need a guy like Carroll to take one for the team occasionally.
Buehrle>Wood
I think Downs has moved passed Carroll on my who can we dfa next list. Not having 2 lefties in the pen like the rest of the league is funny, but having 0 would be funnier.

This is what I like seeing a lot. That was just so bad last year. Have to win within the division to do anything noteworthy. BTW, Conor against RHP .368 .415 .495 .910 LHP .310 .344 .379 .

hogan873
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) If Gillaspie proves merely capable against LHP, he can easily be a full time starter moving forward. I liked Gillaspie last year when he wasn't nearly as good. This season he's been great. I wonder if knowing Davidson is down in AAA as the potential future starter has anything to do with his performance? He's definitely made a big improvement at the plate, and his defense is quite good, too. I remember reading something last year about how he's very hard on himself. Maybe he's just worked his ass off to be better.
