Sox 5-4 thru 7

I think we're up 6-4.

Petricka is so underrated. Webb too. Putnam too. Basically our whole bullpen minus Belisario and Downs is good. I'm probably forgetting someone- oh yeah, except Guerra too. And Carroll.

Bellys been alright

Belisario is/was VERY good against the Dodgers and in the 8th inning set-up role.

So only 3 guys? lol

Is Conor qualified yet for the AL batting leaders list yet?

Heard he would be #1 the other day but was just coming up short on plate appearances.

Kroled a grounder to Kinsler there.

Did they take away a run?

Double JA

Abreu should start the all star game. Amazing to have a bonafide star on the Sox again.

Edit: To go with Sale.

Absolutely, especially for outfielders. You just don't get a good enough perspective. You don't see plays develop. You don't see how players position themselves. You don't see their jumps. You see about 25% of the play on TV.

For evaluating a one-off play where no replay is shown, sure, it's not ideal. For evaluating over thousands of plays, it's easily enough, particularly when combined with studying defensive metrics. They're not ideal, but looking at them over a 3-year period is more than enough to accurately surmise whether a player is obviously good or obviously bad. Viciedo is obviously bad.

I asked that too, no one had an exact answer

Reasonable post.

It's not ideal, but it is possible to rule a player a lousy defender by watching on TV and listening to the announcers on the replay, etc. Tank is no Chet Lemon, that is for sure.

There's a strong case to be made that Belisario's been better than Petricka this season, looking beyond ERA

After you have the opportunity to see a couple live games, you'll get it.

How bout a single between third and short?

---Edit: Well he moved the runners for Tank or DeAza.

Clutch hit needed

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 09:38 PM)

He would need 201 PA as of after this game to be qualified. He has 171.

1 time De Aza

Dumb move, Tank is cold and Ale is on fire. They should've went at tank

Yay for Viciedo's OBP.

Bases loaded. Get a big hit here please!

So he's not close. Can he get there by the All-Star break?

Have you seen Torii Hunter live this year? If not, are you therefore not in a position to say he's been bad defensively this year?

De Aza's been hot lately. Let's hope he can come through here and make them pay.
