Robin Ventura has lost his mind.

How in the world do you bunt there. You give an automatic out to your 2nd to best hitter so Abreu can single them in?

Madness

It makes sense but I hate it. Especially that early. Let Melky hit. Runners are speedy.

i dont have the time to follow the minor leagues, so if you guys say we have a guy down there, i'm all for it.

I can't see much sense in ordering automatic outs in front of Abreu, especially when the 2 hole hitter is the 2nd to best hitter.

Ventura is managing scared.

I 100% agree, and not based on what we just saw. It's the 3rd inning and your 9 and 1 hitters just reached based. Is Robin playing to tie the ballgame in the 3rd inning?

It just doesn't make baseball sense.

At ALL.

The Robin handicap is very real. Measuring it won't be easy, but it's there.

the old school is, this is the right move, unless you have the heart of your order coming up. now with Avi hitting what he is hitting, that is something else to think about. but it isn't/.

Quintana looked good that inning, so there's one positive.

Unfortunately this offense is an epic disaster.

and i really just don't get it. the talent is there; the brains are not.

Good chance tmrw's game is in jeopardy...if Alexei's ball wouldnt have been knocked down by the wind this would be a 5-1 or 6-1 Sox lead since no way Ventura would be bunting there with a 3-1 lead. Well, at least one would hope not.

Fathom will be turning over in angst when he sees what happened that half inning.

I'd trade both Avi and Alexei if we could get a good catcher and a minor leaguer.

i will discuss that in another thread. but i got some ideas.

all this should have been looked at in the offseason, last offseason.

Getting the go ahead run in scoring position with less than 2 out is not playing for a tie.

2nd and 3rd one out 3,4,5 hitters up usually means runs. Unfortunately Abreu hit it to the only place the run doesn't score on the ground.

Because they could pitch him carefully with 1b open and induce him to do exactly that....its called strategy.

He doesnt swing, they simply walk him and Avi manages to mess things up again.
