7/17 vs KC Royals Doubleheader

Featured Replies

Hahn said this morning on the Score that he expected Sale to be starting on Sunday, with Rodon and the additional rest/blister issue pushed back to next week.

Some dudes were calling in crucifying the Sox for not starting Sale today and trying to sweep the doubleheader, knowing that 2-2 probably won't do in terms of pushing them into a position where they can justify adding pieces.

Did say one funny thing...that the only untouchable 23 they ever had was not Robin Ventura but someone who played for the Bulls, in response to a question about the possibility of dealing Chris Sale, and that they listen to any and all offers on every player until the point where an offer becomes too good to pass up.

Really didn't seem committed one way or the other...which is understandable but not where any GM wants to be this close to the deadline.

Also said they would be much less inclined to deal a player in the division (although the Avi Garcia example came up) and had no issue trading with the Cubs, as the idea of limiting your market further by not including them was counter-intuitive to the team's best interests long-term. Finally, mentioned how hard it was to both develop and compete at the same time and that rebuilding on the fly wasn't the most popular approach compared to the Cubs, Astros, Twins or big market spending teams.

DREADED LEADOFF WALK SELL SELL SELL

Soto had the runner dead to rights but dropped the damn ball

1-0 already, SELL!!

Edited by Jose Abreu

Oh hay Saladino is not in the 2 hole. Good.

There was an article on Fangraphs recently that mentioned the Royals might not have to make a move for a SP at the deadline. When was the last time a team won the World Series with a terrible starting rotation?

Cain has been absolutely raking recently.

I thought Eaton was a better base stealer

It didn't look like the tag got on Eaton until he was on teh base. Looks like he had the glove down, but didn't touch Eaton until his chest, by that time he was already on teh base.

Vs this battery why run on 0-2? Stupidity is incomprehensible.

Bats came ready for the second half

If you're gonna run, isn't 0-2 the count to do it on? Better chance of a breaking ball.

A first-inning run by the other team and an out on the basepaths. So far the second-half version doesn't look any different.

It's Drew Butera, not Sal Perez

Damn it Shark, second time you've got ahead of a guy and then walked him, and this is a team that doesn't walk.

Good dp, let's start hitting now

nice. tough dude to double up

Ventura back to the Abreu batting second silliness I see.

Quick poll:

Will Avi be thrown out somewhere on the basepaths?
