Hopefully he takes Guppies starts from now on.

Ventura wouldn't have the courage to limit Shark's starts entering FA.

He'll find Johnson a few starts though in place of Rodon.

Time for my annual rant about how stupid it is that MLB changes roster rules for the final month of the season. I get why it's nice for losing teams like the Sox. But it's silly that playoff berths can be determined by extra relievers or pinch running specialists who wouldn't have been on the roster for the first 120 games of the year.

Where are they going to play Micah?

Will he have the courage to use him at DH?

Probably second a few times a week at second. Better than him just going home doing nothing I suppose.

Ideally full time at 2b to get him reps while we get a look at Sanchez at SS. Realistically there's no chance of that happening because reasons.

Those decisions are usally made by the GM. Hahn should have an idea what he wants to do w Shark and Danks for sept. I am sure he will also decide how Micah should be used.

I wish the Sox would bring Anderson up for September. I know it won't happen, but it would be nice to see if they can move forward with him at short next year.

That would be a bad idea.

Anderson being up this soon already would be rushing it. His defense, while improved, needs to be further developed. Give it another year and he'll be ready.

Why?

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 08:14 AM)
Why?

What Jose Abreu said.

(the poster, at least. I'm not sure if Jose Abreu the player has any opinions on White Sox player development)

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 31, 2015 -> 07:14 AM)
Why?

He not only is probably not ready, but if you bring him up, he would take up a spot on the 40 man roster next year, which means Sox would have to lose an unknown player, probably a pitcher, and that pitcher would then go on to win a Cy Young award.

My guess for the September call-up list:

Carroll

E Johnson

Putnam (if/when he comes off the DL)

Brantly

L Garcia

M Johnson

Maybe Beck if Putnam isn't going to be back

See no reason not to make the locker room crowded when MiLB finishes up

Pitchers:

Scott Carroll

Erik Johnson

Chris Beck/Junior Guerra

Frankie Montas

Putnam/Webb

Position players:

Rob Brantly

Micah Johnson

Leury Garcia

Could probably get rid of Gordon Beckham and no one would even notice. I see nothing wrong with Anderson getting some major league exposure. I also see nothing wrong with being patient with him.

Probably isn't enough work to go around for five additional pitchers. Three yes, and maybe four. But you don't want to pay a full month's salary to guys who are only going to get in a couple innings work.

Anderson isn't on the 40 yet and doesn't have to be put on it this winter in order to be protected from the Rule 5, so unless you think it's likely he is going to make the team next April, you waste an option year next year by adding him to the roster now.

It'll be interesting to see who gets called up. A lot of teams have some 40 man decisions coming, so the waiver wire could be pretty exciting soon.

I always assumed Jose Abreu the user was Jose Abreu the player.

But yeah, let's not mess up another prospect by bringing them up too early. I totally sympathize, though. Spring training is so exciting.

I don't think Abreu has enough time to be posting on message boards. Plus, he doesn't know much english

Also, Anderson's been dealing with an injury and is playing a lot of DH. So yeah, not a good idea. Not to worry, it's not happening anyway.

As the years go by, you are going to see the teams who have been loading up on signings (thinking of LAD and HOU in particular) start to have those guys hitting their 40 man roster restrictions, meaning that guys are going to get let go who should be protected. The Sox have made a living in those margins.
