April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Hey at least he threw 120 pitches in a 16-0 game Is that part of the maddon magic?
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 02:09 AM) 2 no hitters in his last 11 starts 20-1 in his last 24 starts He's good Best stretch of our lifetime by far I believe
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:06 PM) Shades of Milt Pappas Forgot about that. There's an angle that conveniently with the narrative of this Cub season.
April 22, 20169 yr no idea how he went from bum to best pitcher alive but he did. At age 29 and 30 too. Only even somewhat comparable thing I've seen is halladay
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Humber threw a perfect game four years ago today. We win. #TheCurse
April 22, 20169 yr SI seems to think it was Pilates and his diet that made him a better pitcher. I don't think Loaiza was this good when he was signed and turned it around. I understand they were chasing history but I think it's stupid to have your pitcher throw 120 pitches when he is ahead by 16.
April 22, 20169 yr From the parts I saw tonight, it was the worst command he's had in a long time. Reds pretty much gave up after the first inning. An amazing stat I saw is the last 6 times Cubs scored in first inning for him, he hasn't allowed a run in that game.

I don't think Loaiza was this good when he was signed and turned it around. April 22, 20169 yr Is this the low point for Sox fans in terms of their relative position against the Cubs? If it wasn't last post-season, or 2003...it feels like it is coming soon. Would hate to compare the tv and radio ratings for the respective series this week...but it would be interesting to see how many more were watching Arrieta tonight (granted, the no-hitter will attract more the last three innings, but the "average" over the broadcast) and compare it with the Sale start. Of course, that's not altogether fair since it was a day game, but the Cubs are just sucking all the air out of the room. It almost makes you cringe HOPING that something bad happens (not an injury to Arrieta)...that strange sensation of rooting almost as hard against the Cubs as for the White Sox.
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) While it seems unnecessary, a no hitter is a no hitter. Dang the Cubs are nuts. NL just absolutely sucks outside a few teams. Must be nice to have ten games in a row against Reds, Brewers and Braves
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) Why isn't everyone doing Pilates if it makes you gain 2 mph And hit 440 ft home runs as a pitcher.
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (Boogua @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 03:18 AM) And hit 440 ft home runs as a pitcher. He looks like a professional wrestler
April 22, 20169 yr The drug test urine collector should be knocking on Jake's hotel room tommorrow morning

Sox are off to a good start. Things could be much, much worse. I know you don't live in Chicago but espn1000 doesn't even have anyone covering the Sox.
April 22, 20169 yr QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) PEDS If it wasn't for exposing McGwire/Sosa after that historic 1998 season/HR chase...you could almost argue that protecting Arrieta from being outed would be worth a lot more to MLB than "heartbreaking" news of a PEDS violation and the Cubs' season being upended.
