Jacob Turner is cut. Will be interesting to see if he was so bad that he gets into Charlotte. Would be nice.

Carroll is also out

Jacob May staying this long with the team really shows how much the organization likes him as a player. I hope he has a big year in the minors this year

going to coming to the sox shields and their 3 comp picks.

going to the padres - hakins, danish, lowry and hell even trey.

now why should they, padres want to do this, help in prospects coming in, loosing salary money and the team salary will be at 68-70 mil.

I've seen you suggest including comp picks in trades many different times on here. Once again, you cannot trade draft picks. The only draft picks you can trade are the competitive balance picks and even those have certain restrictions that need to be followed.

Rollins has officially been added to the roster. We sit at 29 players with Ishikawa, Sands, Aumont, Jacob May, and Hector Sanchez still hanging around.

Jimmy Rollins will start at shortstop Monday for the White Sox. Alex Avila slated to be opening day catcher.

Avila was obvious. Righty on the mound.

The writing for what we have long suspected is on the wall.

Curiosity question: who would you rather have had, LaRoche or Ishikawa?

I'd rather have Ishikawa and the ability to spend the $13 million at some point.

Rollins basically takes Turner's spot so the 40 man stays at 37. If they keep Ishikawa, Sands will be DFA'd and Ishikawa takes his spot. 40 man stays at 37.

With the bench of Saladino, Navarro and Shuck, I'd guess Sands gets that last spot on the bench. Doubtful the Sox carry two LHB as outfielders on the bench.

Shuck is bad vs RHP though. I think they are keeping Ishikawa.

Last season Shuck was better against RHP.

Cut him last for some entrance motivation.

Baltimore is unconditionally releasing Miguel Gonzalez. Was like a #3 or #4 starter presently, wasnt he?

You could see the Sox taking him over Ishikawa or Sands, as starting pitching is still what I consider a 'hole'

Fangraphs paints him as a peripherals-defier:

Profile: Miguel Gonzalez has been part of the Orioles' (formerly) peripherals-defying rotation since 2012. Like teammate Chris Tillman, Gonzalez put up ERAs far better than one would expect from his walk and strikeout rates from 2012 to 2014. Also like Tillman, Gonzalez turned into a pumpkin in 2015. While some might point out that Gonzalez was unlucky on fly balls going out of the park last season, that was really only part of the problem. His batting average on balls in play was roughly league average after three years of them being incredibly good. His strikeout rate improved a bit, but was still below average, but his walk rate increased at the same time. Gonzalez is not that great at keeping the ball on the ground, either, and he does not have swing-and-miss stuff. He turns 32 in May, so his best days are likely behind him. He's probably better than his 2014 performance, but 2015 was probably closer to his true talent than the semi-magical 2012-2014 run. If you believe he has batted ball suppression skills, he will still be available at a bargain price or at the back end of a draft. Maybe Gonzalez will surprise us again, but he is going to be a low end option in deep leagues at best. (Matt Klaassen)

The Quick Opinion: After three seasons of batted ball magic from 2012-2014, the clock struck midnight for Miguel Gonzalez' unremarkable stuff in 2015. He was a bit unlucky, but he is at best a low end option in most fantasy drafts in 2016.

Jimmy Rollins has made the Opening Day roster for the White Sox.

Chicago purchased Rollins' contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, and he will be in the lineup at shortstop for Monday's season opener against the A's in Oakland. Rollins, entering his 17th season, signed a Minor League contract with the Sox in February, and he entered Wednesday batting .354 (17-for-48) this spring with four home runs and 13 RBIs.

The Sox also made two other roster moves ahead of Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Reds, optioning right-hander Scott Carroll to Charlotte and outrighting righty Jacob Turner to the same affiliate.

Those transactions leave Chicago with 29 players in Major League camp, including 13 pitchers. The club's 40-man roster remains at 37.

#Rays James Loney has been told he will not make the team. Not sure if will be traded or put on waivers

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 1m1 minute ago

White Sox could be a fit for James Loney, given the retirement of Adam LaRoche. Padres, perhaps, if Myers shifts to OF some days.

Loney vs. righties

2015: 296/341/372

Career: 296/351/432

Ishikawa vs. righties

2015: 207/303/310

Career: 258/326/401

Yep, they should claim him.

Not terribly interested unless the Rays want to pick up $7 of the $8M left on his tab.

No they shouldn't.
