Game Thread: 5/26 Sox vs. Royals, 7:15pm - PPD

Featured Replies

Alright, my first time ever doing this. I've decided to keep this positive. It's Thursday, almost a holiday weekend, and we got ourselves some baseball to be played tonight to take us there.

On the Mound: Miguel Gonzalez -- our Miggy has been decent, posting a 3.31 ERA over 16 innings. He has had his troubles against the Royals going 0-4 with a 6.00 ERA over his last 4 against KC, but looked decent striking out 8 last time out.

For them we go against Danny Duffy. Last time he only lasted 63 pitches, and probably won't be much above that this time.

Abreu is 7 for 19 lifetime against him and has shown signs of life over the past few days. Calling for a big game from him.

I'll go with a Sox Victory tonight to set the tone for the series...

Sox 6

Royals 4

Abreu knocks out 2HR. Go go Sox!

Move Abreu back to the 2 or 3 hole tonight plz

This will be the 11th start this season by a Sox 5th starter. They are 0-7 so far. That's 1996 and 2003 bad. Maybe the 11th time is the charm? LOL.

But wins don't matter in evaluating a pitcher :gosox3: :P  Come'on give us a no decision from the starter!

To be fair they have won a couple games Gonzalez pitched. I don't care if the guy gets a no-decision as long as the team gets a W.

Can we skip Gonzalez then?

They could. I would so Sale isn't pushed out of this series.

Well Ventura is really trying to shake up the combinations to find something that works.

Moustakas out for the season with a torn ACL. Happened on the play where he & Gordon collided. Curious to see how much of an impact that one play has within the coming weeks & their season as a whole.

Seems like he just wanted Eaton to get a day off.. Of course he takes Rollins out of the 2 hole when we face a LHP and not RHP. Hopefully they can get going after seeing Duffy last week

There is no excuse for not taking 3 of 4 this series against a team missing Moose and Gordon.

Holy s*** that's awful. I didn't know Moose f***ed himself up that bad.

Are u serious. KC will smoke us 3 minimum; we got to try to avoid sweep. Weather is horrendous as we speak. Damn this state can be scary: wind, tornadoes, hail, total rain during rush hour.

https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/USMO0460:1:US

Radar doesn't look that bad to the west, only 5% chance of rain at 6 p.m. but this model says the game's unlikely to be played.

Rain/thunderstorms in the forecast all the way through Monday. Typical May weather in KC. Changeable.

Royals have an interesting decision to make about rebuilding.

Do they believe they can stay in the race without Gordon (who hasn't given them anything) and Moustakas...or should they start trading off all their pieces like Cain, Hosmer, Volquez, Wade Davis and Escobar (Perez isn't going anywhere IMO)?

Do they believe that Morales is done or is going to recover offensively? Because they're not going anywhere with only Cain, Hosmer and Perez providing the offense. Just not enough balance. When you only have 2 total homers from FIVE spots in the batting order, you just can't survive with that little pop even if all of those guys were contact hitters (which they're not).

My sense is that they believe they can compete if 1) Morales isn't done, and 2) if they can add a couple of pieces at the trade deadline.

That's the only thing Gordon hit all year. (Stolen from Pianowdki on Twitter)

My DFS weather sources say this game will probably be PPD very soon.

If this game gets postponed, how will the Sox pitching rotation line up for the next few days? Will they skip Gonzalez or simply push everyone back a day?

Wow. All of this destruction on a popup foul that wasn't even caught.

And Morales is out with a finger problem.

Brett Eibner is at DH, of all people.

Take away Cain/Perez/Hosmer, that line-up would struggle to beat Omaha or NW Arkansas.

Royals must be hoping for a month of rainouts. (Can see where they would want the DH later in the season for when they have Gordon back healthy, Morales, etc.)

BTW, who is pitching for the Mets in the first game of that series?

That leaves the possibility of an interesting match-up next week for Chris Sale in NY. Isn't that Harvey's spot? Is he even going to make it?

Edited by caulfield12

Harvey, Matz, and deGrom next week.

I am already calling this will be the start where Harvey turns it around......... Not a hard prediction to make, but this is where he gets going.
