  1. No of course not. Not a HOFer IMO. But he'll get in, I have no doubt about it. And then I wouldn't even put it past the media to trumpet the idea that him admitting to HGH may have actually helped him because it shows he has character. Used it only once? Just like everyone else who has ever gotten caught smoking, stealing, cheating, you name it- has only ever done it once! I can also see him getting in as the first of a new standard held for starting pitchers. I don't see too many 300 game winners going forward. 200, good numbers, and an assload of playoff wins might eventually do the trick. If it ever does, he'll be the first.
  2. Didn't see him listed, but Justin Duchscherer signed with Baltimore.
  3. Glad the Sox got him. I think lots of upside can be realized with this signing. I can see him getting a few AB's.
  4. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Why would your dad possibly insist people come in today? I don't think it's a matter of people not "bothering" to show up...it's that they couldn't show up. It's a CNC shop, and we have a lot of open orders that come due this month. To be fair to my dad, he said if you can't make it, no harm. One of the guys that showed up is from the southside of Chicago and ended up waiting since 8 till we got here.
  5. I wake up to work at 5 every day. Today I woke up and heard Mulli and Hanley say that North Ave. from 59 to 355 was unpassable. I got excited because that's the route my dad and I take to work, but I didn't fall back asleep because my dad told his people that we would have work today. So we shovel the driveway all the way to the street, which hasn't been touched. He tries the street anyway, gets stuck. We're about 10 houses from the entrance to the subdivision shoveling in front of the car till we get to the mouth of the subdivision. Some guys helped us out along the way with their snowblowers, so bless them, but when we're 4 houses from the end maybe 2.5 hours into it the city plowers make it through the subdivision and effortlessly clean the street. Wow. 2 people bothered to show up at work.
  6. Deep down I thought he would have ended up with Twins.
  7. My family hit Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Andorra in '99. I only turned 13 during the trip (in Paris IIRC) so I was too young to appreciate a lot of the things I would appreciate now. One city that absolutely stands out in my mind is Sanremo in Italy. I'd like to go back there, possibly make it my honeymoon spot once things get to that point. I've been to both Warsaw and Krakow many times. I like Krakow better, but as mentioned earlier, Warsaw is more modern (and sterilized I think) and Krakow is old Poland.
  8. That Knicks victory warmed the cockles of my heart.
  9. Well, if Peavy is out for an extended period of time, who else can we really turn to other than Garcia or someone already in the org.? Is Garcia the best arm out there not yet signed?
  10. I read a funny as hell tweet about him holding the record for most pinstripes on a Yanks jersey. I don't wish him harm, really- but I hope like hell he cracks their rotation out of spring training, so I guess I'm kind of wishing him (and the Yanks) harm.
  11. Yanks sign Bartolo Colon to ml deal. Just like Cliff Lee, only a bit rounder and more sucky.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6055534 How is Morneau still in the recovery phase? It's been what now, 7 or 8 months? Jeremy Roenick must be thinking Morneau "sure is no hockey player".
  13. They had the recipient of the slap on the Mac Show. Sounded like a tool. He said he dislikes Oney because he's a Jenks fan and was starting Bobby chants during Oney's time up. He also denied calling the girl any names, but it sounded like he was lying. But I dunno, I wasn't there.
  14. I don't mind the Packers at all. I can't see them walking away from this one, unfortunately.
  15. "His veteran leadership, mustache, and consistent hitting played a big part in helping the Mets to the 2006 [[National League Eastern Division]] title." Nice to hear Valentin. I enjoyed his time on the Sox and always kinda rooted for him after he left.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) According to Scott Gregor, Daily Herald White Sox beat writer, his inside sources say Chris Sale is a lock to be the White Sox closer in 2011. I like it.
  17. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) For what it's worth, I know a few of these guys well enough that they tell me off the air exactly what they think about a lot of different situations (quite a bit of stuff would surprise you, quite truthfully). And I can honestly tell you that every one of them truly doesn't care about the "distraction" stuff with Ozzie/KW/Jerry etc. I mean, they know it happens, they're aware of it, but it doesn't really affect them. In the end I think people who are so outspoken in their dislike for Guillen are just pissed that he put Mark Kotsay in the lineup on a regular basis.
  18. Just heard someone say that Cutler had a sprained vagina/torn uterus. Thats so pure.
  19. Some girls, and seemingly moreso recently than I can ever remember are just uncontrollable. I blame reality tv. I love a feisty girl, but some of what you'll run into today is, well... I don't know the dynamics of Ozzie's family, but yeah, I will agree that it's evident from what has gone on the last few years that his kids feel entitled. That will happen more often than not when your father is a successful professional ball player/manager in a big town. I'm glad Ozzie said Oney was wrong on tweeting about Jenks, and I'd bet that it wasn't just him saying that to the media- he had to have mentioned it to his son as well. I'm not a fan of Oney's ass-twittery, but at a Score roast I just could care less what Oney says or does.
  20. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Oney's girl did it so it's not a knock on Ozzie? Sure. Oney's "girl" is just following suit. Most people would never throw a brick through a store window and then come running out with a new TV, but when they see the rest of the city doing it suddenly there's no issue anymore. Same thing. Ozzie's lack of parental action has created a playground atmosphere for the Guillen family and all the little hangers-on that follow it. The punishment for Oney and his "girl" is probably to sit out of the kickball game at recess. No, its absolutley not a knock on Ozzie. At least not in this case. Are my parents responsible for who myself or my siblings are dating? You've never seen a girl thats a little too feisty act like a fool when she thinks her boyfriend- an extension of herself, is slighted? You think she punched someone because Ozzie sometimes can't shut up and she's dating one of his sons?
  21. There comes a point in time where you're responsible for your own actions and can't have mommy and daddy to fall back on. Oney isn't 15 anymore. I don't think his actions should be grouped in on Ozzie. Ozzie didn't punch a heckler, hell, neither did Oney, actually. His girl did. All this tells me is his girl watches too much Jersey Shore. I'm glad Ozzie is here for at least two more years, hope he's here even longer.
  22. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) Ozzie option picked up for 2012! Good to hear. Hopefully some winning takes place before the end of 2012 and he stays even longer.
  23. Awesome stuff. Astronomy has been my favorite thing to learn and read about since I can remember. I actually re-read Hawking's A Brief History of Time this past fall. Amazing things happen out there, probably more than the mind can comprehend at this point.
