  1. Would think we'd start seeing some movement around the league here pretty soon... Speaking of which, anyone know a good stream from MLB Network? Can't seem to find one, and for some stupid reason my directv account won't let me play through their website unless connected to home wifi.
  2. I don't agree with Balta very often, but +100. I would take Calhoun at 1/$6-8M over Ozuna at 4/$75M. If we can get Ozuna at 3/$50M or less, the calculus changes a bit, but I find that hard to believe in this current market. The benefit to Calhoun or other 1 year options via trade is that we open RF up for a nice FA class next winter. We also give Adolfo 1 more year to stay healthy and blossom. Calhoun is not my top choice by any means, but I'd take him over Ozuna based on the years and price 10/10 times. I do think signing Calhoun does make the Sox need to find a better DH option than Zack Collins, though.
  3. I mean, FWIW, Chisholm is generally ranked fairly closely to Madrigal. MLBpipeline has Chisholm 53, Madrigal 40. But yah, I am not trading Madrigal for Gallen either. I don't get why so many people are ready to trade our mlb ready 2nd baseman. The guy is going to be a fixture at 2B for the next 7 seasons - why are we filling a hole by creating another? Unless Rendon is walking through the door, trading Madrigal would be so stupid.
  4. Its a good price (I am not saying otherwise), but its not nothing. Obviously its far less than he'd get on the FA market, which is a big reason why he'd command a large return.
  5. He has 4 years $48.5M left. So while that is cheap for a player with his talent, its not like like he's making nothing. 20: $7.6M; 21: $11.1; 22: $13.1; 23: $16.6M Up to $1M in escalators per year.
  6. Exactly. Trading Cease makes pretty much no sense.
  7. Fair enough with regard to Joc specifically, but how on the backburner can solving RF be? They need 2 SP, and a RF. The rest of the roster is mostly in place. Hard to imagine there being much more pressing needs that solving RF.
  8. Can you post? Just looked for it, and couldn't find. Saw a response saying Robert isn't going anywhere, but nothing on Vaughn.
  9. I am referring to trade. If trade route doesn’t work, Calhoun isn’t my 1st choice, but he’d likely come on 1 year deal, and I’d prefer that to giving Ozuna a Grandal+ deal.
  10. Those guys aren’t stopgaps. They're rebuilding placeholders. I am talking about a legitimate MLb RF, just on 1 year deal.
  11. The perfect move likely isn’t attainable this off-season. Which is why I would be finding a stopgap right fielder for 2020 and solve that position long-term next off-season when there are much better options.
  12. Really hope today comes and goes without any Ozuna to Sox news. Then we’ll know the report was BS.
  13. Frankly Castellanos and Ozuna should be strictly DHs as well when Eloy is in the other corner.
  14. No, I don't think Ozuna is going to sign a deal under 4 years or under like $18M AAV. I also think handing Ozuna a 4 year deal and committing to dogshit OF defense for the next 4 years is not a move we should be making. If it were up to me, I'd be trading lesser prospects for a 1 year RF stop gap, and spending my money on SP, a decent veteran pen arm and some bench help. If the Ozuna deal goes through, I will reserve final judgement until I see the dollars and years, but I really don't like the fit at all. I also admit that he's an enormous upgrade over what we have, and I think his bat plays just fine in RF. The defense is what bothers me.
  15. To call danks a "nothingball" is insane. Guy was really really good before he got hurt. 4 seasons in a row he accumulated 15 fWAR. That is quite good.
  16. Regarding the bolded - it seems to me that fans here on the ones hellbent on repeating past mistakes. To this point, the Sox haven't actually made any of those moves. Trading Madrigal or Cease or really any major piece of the future would be one of those moves. As would signing Ozuna to anything over 3/$50M.
  17. That Shins cat on Twitter (salt and such), says that the Ozuna signing would be as primary DH, occasional OF.
  18. I would much rather trade Vaughn than Madrigal at the moment. Unless Sox wanted to get splashy with Rendon, which is a pipedream.
  19. Agreed. But I've felt that other recent WM would be busy, and they weren't. So again, I will believe it when I see it - but not saying it won't happen.
  20. We'll see some stuff tomorrow am for sure, but not sure if it will be a flurry or not. Tonight is possible - heard most teams were getting into SD this weekend.
  21. Yah. I would think the Rays would value players that are all need MLB ready, all without a day of MLB service time. But yah, I hear ya. Snell is so good - I doubt they're looking to trade him yet. They'll wait until middle of 2021 when he's getting more expensive.
  22. I will believe it when I see it. Last several winter meetings were snoozers. Won't stop me from being an incredibly unproductive employee for three days though.
  23. Yah, I mean, I doubt that would be enough to convince the Rays to move him. But they're also an org that may have some interest in some of our spare parts. Would Vaughn, Dunning, Collins and Basabe offer get you laughed at?
