Nick Madrigal will have a shot at being the Opening Day 2b
ChiSox59 replied to iWiN4PreP's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You’re the only person on the planet to do this. -
Yah he isn’t good anymore. There is worse insurance to Eloy injuries and Mazara not improving, but Puig makes so little sense as an actual bench bat. If he’s OK coming in on a milb deal, servicing as ST injury depth and then start in AAA, that’s one thing. But handing the guy a guaranteed contract, even if only a couple million, doesn’t make much sense.

Ummmmmm, last time I checked 2B is on the right side of the infield. -
He doesn’t. If he wants a minor league deal, sure. But he’s not a good fit for this roster at all.

Very little chance he’s the starting 2B on OD. -
What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
ChiSox59 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Right. That person knows nothing. But random trade rumors involving the Sox happen all the time. Weird for the Sox media team to troll this particular one. It’s not like they’re the Denver Nuggets twitter that trolls everything. A little strange, but still 99% BS. -

I suppose. None of this is happening, tho. -

Then, hypothetically speaking, the White Sox can say our 3B is only marginally worse than yours and far less expensive, so you can GFY. -

There are many things about this rumor that make it likely BS, but a big one is if you’re making this deal, trading Cease instead of Madrigal is a real head scratcher. Where is a Madrigal going to play? -

Lol Moncada is still controlled for 4 seasons. -

He has so little to lose tho. He can just start a new fake Twitter. -

Meh. I wouldn’t HATE it, but I just don’t think NA should really have much surplus value. But if you're trading for NA, Madrigal is pretty much the only guy that makes sense as the centerpiece. Gotta make room for Yoan at 2B. I guess if he waived NTC, it’s be alright. All that being said, this rumor is 99.9% BS. -
Bring back the 59 (?) red pinstripes as an alt like they had in 15(?). Those were sooooooo good.

I think .285/.330/.535 sounds about right. I do think he'l surpass 40 homers if he can stay on the field.

Is Mookie Betts a real option for the Sox with payroll history??

I love Moncada. Guy could be a monster. But he would be lucky to get half of $300M right now if he signed a long term deal. -
In other news, the sky is blue. He never had a chance.

First things first, the White Sox aren’t trading for Betts. Second - the Sox will certainly be one of a handful of teams that will be interested in Mookie next winter. I don’t think he’ll get $420M, but could see 10/$350M type deal. I do think the Sox are and will remain a long shot to actually sign him, but we should be in a better position than at least like 75% of clubs. That’s a start. If things go mostly according to plan this season, but Mazara is the dude he’s always been, RF could legitimately be the only hole to hole to fill with an approximately $100M payroll after arb. The money will be there on an AAV basis. It’s the years that obviously will concern Jerry. I wouldn’t necessarily bet on the Sox signing him, but I think they’ll be a real bidder and a finalist for Betts. -
It’d be behind idiotic not to. 2 weeks is never better than 1 full season. Ever.
-
I like Yolmer. I’m glad he signed elsewhere. There are about 7-8 guys I’d rather have that are still FA.
-
This. Unsurprising tho.

Maybe. Sort of depends what happens with EE this season. If he's good, the option gets picked up and Vaughn probably gets the kid gloves treatment. If Vaughn has a great 2020 and EE is meh, I wouldn't be surprised to see Vaughn OD 2021. But yah, most likely won't see Vaughn until late April/early May 2020, and that is fine with me.

I see very little chance he isn't up before June 1. Gun to head, I'd say early May. Super two deadline is usually late to mid June. I think after Kopech and Madrigal the days of being cute are over for the time being.
