  1. It’s well documented the Sox already have an offer on the table for 5/$100M+. Which is an aggressive offer. I’m sure they have some wiggle room, but at some point you have to draw the line in sand when you’re talking about a good but definitely not elite pitcher.
  2. Because Cole and Strasburg aren’t signing until February. Maybe the Sox change course and start talking to those two if Wheeler signs elsewhere. Wheeler are 6/$125M+ is more than likely going to be a rough contract.
  3. Lol, a lot of whining in here today. Relax fellas. Honestly if Wheeler approaches Corbin territory, give me Ryu.
  4. $125-130 million range before the “few lesser FAs”.
  5. If Wheeler signed, Sox payroll is slightly over $100M. They definitely have room for another $13-16M AAV player.
  6. Terrified of what that deal may look like after the Moustakas contract.
  7. I mean if the price is a guy like Sheets or Gonzalez..who cares?
  8. A little early to call that Corbin contract a reward. But generally, I agree with what you’re saying outside of the Puig nonsense.
  9. I didn’t see him getting to $100M. I was definitely wrong there. Felt 4/$80M was a legit price with competition entering offseason. But he’s definitely getting that 5th year.
  10. I could get into that assuming Joc was added. Adam Engel as AAA insurance is good by me.
  11. Honestly though, I wouldn’t trade Adolfo for Joc. Adolfo is going to be a dude at some point. We’ve made it this far with him, you can’t move him at his lowest value in years.
  12. Right. Kopech isn't throwing 200 innings next year. I'd much rather have him pitching for the Sox in August and September than April and May.
  13. Yah I am moreso referring to 2021. Let's just say Sox sign Wheeler 5/$105 and Hamels 2/$25M. In 2021 you have Giolito, Wheeler, Kopech, Cease, Lopez, Hamels, and Rodon. With Dunning, Lambert and Stiever not terribly far away. That is a lot of SP. Obviously someone will get injured and maybe Lopez isn't a SP long term (I think he is), but that I just don't see the need to add 2 multiyear SP. But I guess you could always just trade from the depth - its not the worth thing in the world.
  14. I think its a no brainer for Kopech to be in AAA with the kid gloves until they get the year of control back. Hahn has pretty much already said that is what they're going to do.
  15. Hope so. Just hard for me to imagine Cole Hamels wouldn't be able to beat a 1 year deal.
  16. I struggle to understand the necessity to add a 2nd veteran pitcher on a multi-year deal. Just seems like a poor use of resources, but I guess you can never have too much pitching.
  17. I don't really consider 8% above average and 27% above average that close, but yah. Kole Calhoun would be fine with me, in all honesty. I'd prefer him to spending a bunch of money on a DH to play RF in Castellanos or Ozuna. If you're going to sign a FA RF, Calhoun is one a handful that make some degree of sense because he is a plus defender. But there are a handful of trade targets that fit much better on 1 year deals that should be pretty cheap to acquire.
  18. Joc Pederson has been worth 5.7 fWAR with a 127 wRC+ the last two seasons. Calhoun 2.5 fWAR wiht a wRC+ if 95. Calhoun is a better defender, but Joc is clearly the much better all around player, and he isn't a bad defender.
