I kind of like the World Cup style expanded playoff scenario Passan described. Obviously wouldn't be baseball as we know it, but at this point - I'd be all for it. Just give me some Sox baseball to watch!

I think (hope) there will be some form of a season, but if there is, I would think it needs to start by July 15. Once that date comes and goes, its going to be tough to get any meaningful season in. I am holding out hope - we should have a much better feel for things by mid May. If no real progress has been made by then, I don't like the chances of seeing a season.

There was no good reason why Yermin didn't get a September call up last year if they were just going to add him to the 40 man in the winter. That I agree with. Wasting ABs on Castillo in September was super stupid. But there was nothing wrong with rolling the dice on Reed when they did. He was a guy they had interest in for a few years, and fit a club need (left handed DH). It was unlikely to work based on his recent history, and it didn't. He sucked balls in 44 PA, and was jettisoned. The Yermin folklore among some Sox fans is something. He'll get a chance at some point, but he's likely going to be nothing more than an Astudillo that is measurably worse at catching and can't even fill in elsewhere on the field in a pinch. He's nice to have around, but I am not going out of my way to make space for a guy like that.

Yermin was in AA when Reed was in the bigs. He wasn't a realistic option. If he was blocking anyone, he was blocking Collins. Also, I figured something was up with Reed. He was still in the Sox org, but didn't appear in any ST games.

MLB and MLBPA came to agreement. Players will get credit for a full year of service time regardless of how many games are played, assuming some number of games actually are played. If 2020 season doesn’t happen, players will get the amount of service time they got in 2019. Absolute nightmare scenario for Sox with Kopech.

Going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Of course, not nearly as interesting as actually watching some damn baseball. We're less than 2 weeks into this thing and it sure doesn't seem like an end is in sight.

I think its probably going to depend on what happens between MLB/MLBPA on the service time. There will have to be some sort of formal agreement on how this situation will play out.

If they reduce the number of games and don't modify the service time clock, ya it would. I assume they'll modify the service time clock, or way too may weird instances would happen. MLBPA isn't going to let their players get fucked over by some freak virus.

Same. Bought my PS4 when my wife (gf at the time) had to do a 6 week stint out of town. Played some Show and NHL for a few weeks....been collecting dust since. I used to play the show and nhl a decent amount against my roommates when I lived with buddies, but could never get into gaming by myself. Always found myself bored to tears 10 mins in.

I don't play video games anymore, but may have to get a PS4 for MLB the Show 20 coming out next week. Then again, that shit will just give me baseball withdrawals.

Everything sucks. Its kind of sad, but my life legit revolves around sports. Not sure WTF I am going to do with myself now. I don't even want to go the germfest that is the gym to burn some stress. The best 10 days of the year (cbb conf tourneys and march madness) cancelled. MLB delayed for the foreseeable future. My other hobby of playing poker is legit probably the worst possible place for spread of this shit. My enjoyment of day trading is virtually sapped as I (any everyone else) have just been crushed for weeks and am getting close to tapped out. So bummed. Weird times.
