Tanner McDougal and Hagen Smith promoted, Sandlin and Schultz optioned to AAA
You can’t dump those epic porn star names.

Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
I'm with you on this one, Bon. Seems like Will is far too sharp to have done something like this accidentally. (Disclaimer: I have zero qualifications to render this opinion. I'm just a guy sitting at his laptop, in the kitchenette of his efficiency apartment, having a cup of Casey's "Darn Good" coffee, and thankful for this brand new day.)

Joe rock and Johnathan cannon needs to go before richards.

8/7 Sox vs. Guardians 6:40PM CT
Agreed, Hank, but I'm a little concerned that the big 3 are kind of "hunting" homers too much, and I'd much rather see them "keep the line moving" with a nice succession of singles and gap shots.

Nope

Make him listen to an hour's worth of audio of Dan Plesac talking about eating a Boom Stick.

Stone Pony, you boner. Love how he just went silent after that stupid diatribe.

8/7 Sox vs. Guardians 6:40PM CT
Yesterday felt like a loss before it even started because of the circumstances of the previous game. What bothered me more than losing yesterday was not using Newcomb in the final Red Sox game because they were “saving” him for yesterday and then he ended up not even pitching. They could have won that Red Sox game if Newcomb pitched instead of Richards or Murphy.

Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
Eh, I think he just didn’t know the rules.
-
Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
Yeah he could be taking the heat. He wouldn't admit that he purposely did this. The whole point of this theory was to avoid the embarrassment of short leash for Schultz.

Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
Don’t think so. Venable was probably on a lack of sleep and just goofed. No excuse at all for such a miscue though. If you can’t remember something that happened minutes before you should probably have had your bench coach on high alert and helping protect you from yourself.

2026 MLB Catch All (Non Sox, Non AL Central)
The Cubs are still playing out of their minds and PCA is going to have a 40/40 season. Only 4.5 games behind the Brewers now. The Cubs were wise to fill their massive rotation holes with Gausman and Holmes, unlike some teams. They won the trade deadline.

Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
No. Venable admitted to messing up right after the game. He pulled a boner, and not the right one. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/venable-takes-blame-inexcusable-mistake-041400169.html

I think Hagen could very well spend next season in the major league bullpen and sort of being the Newcomb replacement. I’d like to keep stretching out Schultz & McDougal though, even if that has to be at AAA. Both are 23 years old and can afford more development if we so choose. I forgot to mention Sandlin in my previous post, but I could also see him move to the bullpen in a multi inning role. I could see a bullpen like this next season: CL: Taylor SU: Hicks SU: H. Smith* MR: Brazoban MR: Hudson* MR: Sandlin MR: Murphy* LR: S. Smith

Did Venable make a 2nd mound visit on purpose?
Did Will Venable purposely make a 2nd mound visit? It gave Sandlin time to warm up and saved Noah the embarrassment of the short leash. Thoughts?

2026 ALCS and NLCS projection
Without knowing how the brackets will shake out, I’ll say: ALCS: Yankees - Red Sox (yay) NLCS: Cubs - Dodgers I think the Rays and Brewers are similar in that they’re better built for the regular season than the postseason.

He's had some good games. I think, at the very least, he should be an adult arm in the room who can give you some innings.

Yeah, but why? He was effective over the years and as recently as last season. Any idea what happened to him?

Littell is terrible.

I posted this and it’s probably worth it even if he sucks cuz he should cost nothing. However, it looks like his strikeouts are way down compared to previous years for some reason so he may not help much.

If Kay finishes the season strong, I think he could actually have decent trade value in the offseason. He will essentially be on a 1 year/$6 million contract, but I doubt he is part of the long term plans here. As such, it could make sense to flip him. I’d like a rotation of Burke/free agent signing/trade acquisition/Martin/Castillo. Go package up some prospects for a proven top of the rotation guy and then spend some money on another proven arm.

Don’t forget PCA as your NL MVP. Sorry, had to do a little @ron883-style trolling there.

I also wouldn't be opposed to the White Sox adding depth and signing Zack Littel for the rest of the season.

You are right about catcher, but that’s how quickly it changed. I thought they were stacked at catcher and reserves in the offseason. It looked good on paper — Teel, Quero, Lee, and Romo.
