8/19 GT - White Sox @ Cubs (1:20pm CT)
He definitely needs another pitch against lefties. Regardless, we need somebody to eat innings against the Cubs today. Whether that he Sandlin or Thorpe.

Sandlin, in his limited innings, has some of the most extreme splits I’ve ever seen. OPS of .444 vs righties, 1.005 vs lefties

Fegan is great. With that said, a lot of excuses by Bannister.

Also, to add a little physicality to the game while the team is batting, they can have a player standing anywhere in the infield and one standing anywhere in the outfield with the ability to physically interfere with a defender, trying to feel the ball.

Fair enough, Kyyle.

What do we have to lose letting Sandlin and Thorpe have a chance in the rotation? If they get lit up, who gives a s%*#.

If I had to guess, our starting pitching since the all star break is averaging less than 5 innings per start (non opener games). This is where the Smiths, Schultz, McDougal and Sandlin having bad years is brutal on the depth.

At the end of nine innings, do a rock, scissors, paper thing. Or maybe even a spelling bee.

Get rid of the infield fly rule, which could make things very interesting.

Another rule I'd like to see instead of a ghost runner on second, put three ghost runners on base and let's end the game a lot sooner.

Gotta win 1 of the next 2

Another rule I'd like to see is if both managers think an umpire is doing a horrible job they can throw the umpire out of the game.

How about this? Starting pitchers much pitch at least seven innings unless he becomes injured. This way pitchers would have to start actually start pitching again and not trying to throw at maximum velocity every pitch. You might actually return some artistry to the craft. It would be more action in the game because more balls would be put in play. There’s nothing exciting about 1/3 of the outs in a game being strikeouts. Also with the increased velocity with the same dimensions that have existed for 100 years, why not move the mound back a couple of feet?

8/18 Gamethread: Crosstown Classic Game 5, 7:05 CT. Hudson vs. Gausman
"8/28 @ Twins: Davis Martin's return could be just what this team needs." You didn't see this in the post ??? But sure, Davis Martin is highly likely to return to his Top Ten mlb form of the first 2-3 months instead. Because...well, why not??? Castillo hadn't pitched well against the Reds, so Davis logically will throw a shutout, too, against a team he has historically struggled against.

I don’t even understand how we are doing a bullpen game today and the past two games the majority of our bullpen wasn’t available. What the hell are we doing here?

Even more entertaining, select a combative fan from each team and have them slug it out on the pitcher's mound with the winners team declared victorious.

Really need to win this game in the worst way. But honestly I don't think I have a lot of Hope because our Bullpen is taxed

Diving into first slows you down and increases the chances for injury. It’s just not a recommended play even to avoid a swipe tag

Sox acquire Brenton Doyle - trade Adams and Carlos Vielma (SS)
Carrigg is the main reason Doyle is expendable...along with him hitting his arbitration years. McCarthy is well over an 800 ops (another Sox miss) and Moniak has been another pleasant surprise to go along with Goodman. Ofc the Mariners were also in a pickle with Castillo too expensive and also bumped out of their rotation with Anderson/Sloan coming on strong. Should have gotten him for 25% off his salary, period...forget about Dominguez, who they could actually use again with the bullpen leaking like a sieve.

It’s likely not going to turn out well. If Doyle doesn’t figure out how to hit again, he could be in non-tender territory after next season.

Agreed, Joe, although I can understand the natural tendency for a batter to fear getting called out on strikes when he lays off one of those and it finds the bottom edge of the zone! Doggone it, that'd be nerve-wracking.

In defense of Kaspar's idea, there is something very good about the "good point" in football (soccer). Genuinely think both Monday and Tuesday should have been draws.
