I'm not buying the catcher want. I think that's just speculation not based in any fact. Bringing in a new catcher could be disastrously disruptive to the pitching staff and negatively outweigh any offensive benefits. I'm guessing the Sox are content with what they have despite the terrible offense.

Also in power pitchers it's usually command that goes first and then velo.

The evolution of Castillo throughout the years is kind of crazy. He went from having one of the best change ups in baseball to having one of the worst.

As fathom hinted at, lefties have been killing him and this is the second year of this trend really getting exposed. This is the 3rd year of the trend in general, as he lost the change up when he moved to Seattle and that was his out pitch to lefties. The trend has been getting worse every year, and this year he's seen 40%+ more lefties than righties.

I will say this though, everyone was 98% sure a lockout was coming December 1, those odds are now up to 100%. Yeah, but we're not seeing a decrease in velocity or anything that drastic in pitch shapes. He's also not walking more guys. It's simply that guys aren't swinging at his slider anymore.
