Non-White Sox Off-Season Hot Stove
Look at Ray Ray Run replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Tigers are situated to win now, nothing baller about trading today away for the future imo in that scenario. -
Well it's the difference in probably being projected at 90 wins and 85 so yea, you're taking the playoff odds preseason down from like 85% to 60% or so. It's not just letting him go, it would be basically punting a contention year and in video games that works fine, but nobody ever does it IRL to any success.
-
Does it really matter if they are disgusted with it now or in the offseason when they let him go for just a QO? They are going to be mad reggardless.
-
That is definitely a good way to look at it. Would depend on the offers with inly 1 year of control.
-
Agree, but Detroit fans are already pretty disgusted with the situation, if it was OOTP sure but I could see an ugly backlash. I'm close with a bunch of Tigers fans IRL, they are all disgusted at the Illitch kid's running of the finances.

Sox swing and a miss with black history month graphic

this organization has to have that consistency of suck in every dept. I think they will correct this oversight since it is called month and not day -
Honestly the baller thing to do would be to trade Skubal now and cut your losses, but grab someone's top 5 to do it. Absolutely reload. Take a hit today to own the AL Central in the future.
-
Exactly. If they are in it they hold, offer him the QO and get the comp pick. If not, he gawn.
-
They just burned that bridge and pissed on the ashes with their action through the arb cycle.
-
Depends on where they are in the standings at the teade deadline then.
-
If he pitches like himself this year, the Tigers will get 3 to 4 guys, including a Frontline one if they choose to move him. Pitching is always insane at the deadline.
-
I hope they resign him. It's bad for baseball when teams can't keep their elite players.
-
They're trying to make the playoffs this year and probably will. He's a free agent after this year, and if they keep him past August 3, they won't have the opportunity to trade him.
-
Because they aren't going to pay him and they want to get something in return? Valdez may be the replacement.
-
And play in one of shittier divisions in baseball
-
Yes.

Why would the Tigers trade Skubal? They're trying to win with the Valdez signing. -
And if he dominates again he’s going to Dodgers or somewhere else anyway. Didn’t really matter about this case honestly
- Today
-
For a half season? Nah. They will be lucky to get a top 50 guy.
-
Feels very on the nose to pay Valdez the highest ever AAV for a LHP (and more than Skubal was asking for) right after Skubal's arb hearing lol
-
Unlike the Sox, the Tigers will absolutely load up on this trade, when it eventually happens
-
He was never coming back after the number the Tigers submitted to start this
-
Reminds me too much of the horrors of public toilets — the dreaded backsplash. At least with a bidet, it is clean water.
-
He was probably always going to regardless of the outcome of this case lol
-
The one serious team in the division.
