It is fair to say that even Chris Getz doesn't even really believe in Peters, as he has lined up two potential replacements very quickly in Doyle and moving Bonemer to CF.

It’s not a doomer post. They aren’t likely going to spend on any position players after adding Doyle and Bart, whom they can bring back next season, along with the players they have coming up next (Bonemer and Roch). They have already added what they likely believe to be an ace / #2 quality starter in Castillo and a normally solid late innings reliever in Brazoban. They still have young starters that they will want to give a shot to next year in Schultz, Thorpe, and even Shane Smith to a lesser extent. They will also have other pitchers to fill either a rotation or bullpen role in Hagen Smith, McDougal, etc. I truly think the trade deadline acquisitions were half of Getz’s next offseason. I could see them signing a cheap veteran starter and some bullpen arms, but I don’t see where they are going to spend all of this money as you stated.

I can see moving Peters up to the #2 spot.

I definitely think it's the long MLB season wearing on Mune to a point. The injury didn't help where he lost some momentum. We all figured he was going to a lower BA guy with power and higher OBP. He's slumping right now and probably needs a day off or two. As far as his future, I still think he gets paid. It would be wise for the Sox to have some conversations but leave any decision to next season. If he comes out the gate next season the same guy, I don't think $200M+ is unreasonable. Contract length will be interesting.

After this, it is still tough to say he is the high end guy who got figured out and waiting to adjust, or he is a lower end guy who had a hot streak and got figured out because of his contact rates. Extension talks should be interesting. Mune is 26, with his 27 season locked in, meaning his free agent season he will be 28. Pete Alonso got 5/155, but got that deal for his age 31 season. Is Mune there? Freddie Freeman was 6/162 for his age 32 season 4 years ago. Is the combination of a bit less than those guys, but 3-4 more years of prime production keep his valuation in that 5-7 at $30ish million per range? If not where?

Was at the game last night and Burke had nothing. I was very surprised he did not give up 5 or more runs. Sean N is amazing...........that guy has saved the Sox starters all year long. It was good to see we did not burn the pen last night and they should be fresh for Minny. Although Hudson got up and warmd up on 3 different occasions. We need our starters to get this shitty streak out of their system and MAN UP. It's crunch time! ALSO, f*** the Guardians!!!!
