I didn't say he wouldn't add. I think he'll allow some additions but Getz isnt going for the throat here . He'll see what he can get at reasonable rates. But I don't think JR changes the way thinks just because he's near the end now. Bottom line is bottom line with him. Leaving his kids as debt free as possible when they sell the Sox so its mostly profit means a lot to him. Maybe if Sonny Gray is a salary dump they take a shot but then anything else is going to have to be prospects for a couple relief arms along the lines of Garrett Whitlock but not like Chapman. I actually hope the Rangers decide to sell but after the series with Cleveland they can start losing. They have a relief pitcher named Jacob Latz (from Lemont) who might make the All Star team and had a 2 inning save tonight vs. Cleveland so has 17 save and 2 blown saves and a great ERA and WHIP. Sox always look for the local guys to come home. He could be their biggest addition for th BP and people might be saying "Who" ?

Yea, there is no MLB requirement (that I am aware of) that a player on the IL list must go down to the Minors for a rehab assignment. Mune has been rehabbing all along so no need to send him to the Minors. I have a hunch (more of an uninformed guess) that Mune will be activated for the upcoming 4 game series with the Guardians.

This has basically been my calculus as well, with some different logic for Lackey since my hope with him would be to see if he could stick in center. Rock it in on July 11th with Thome hopefully in round 2. Seems to me that Thome and Emerson aren’t too far apart so you’d kind of be able to get near the prospect capital as the consensus top two talents.

Bad memories linger from that one Britt Burns pitch that ended the season for the great '83 White Sox. That ending only makes me realize how hard it is to even get to that point. We keep asking ourselves as White Sox fans, "are they really this good?" And this team continues to answer that in the affirmative. This team has what it takes to go for it...all of it. You really don't think JR would add during a season where they are playoff contenders? Especially with his age? He's spent plenty of times when the team was competitive. He absolutely loves his White Sox. I 100% think he'd want to take one more chance while he is still alive.

I've been on the Roch train for the last month or so, for many of the reasons Jimmy has posted. I'd rather draft a SS over a catcher. They're more productive because they play more often and their body doesn't get beaten down like catchers. Catchers also tend to develop slowly. I don't see a big enough gap between Emerson and Roch that would lead me to wanting Emerson. Higher volatility and longer development time for the highschooler. Roch fits the timeline. He could make it up here next season potentially. He's a really safe pick. His floor is a guy like Dansby Swanson. As others have said, he could be a guy like Tulo. Just pick him.
