  5. https://nypost.com/2026/10/30/sports/kaima-taira-takes-first-step-toward-mlb-jump-with-yankees-interest/ 45 days to sign but that get suspended on December 2nd, or that's the deadline for signing regardless? here's the answer... Teruaki Sato has a chance to make that same kind of impact (as Murakami), as he finished last season with a .306/.383/.609 slashline with 39 home runs and 106 RBI. But his serious swing-and-miss potential and malleable defensive position may be enough to give teams some pause. And it’s not just those factors that could impact his free agency, the impending lockout could also come right in the middle of his posting window. If he doesn’t sign before the impending lockout on Dec. 1, his posting window would be paused until the lockout ends. All those factors could lead to Sato falling into the price range for an American League middle-market team (Tigers?). If that happens, it won’t take long for him to become a Guardians villain.

Baseball problems are none of my concern such as payroll, free agents or retro stadiums. Too many legit distractions to mess with their future fans.
  7. Heard this pizza is amazing and they have good craft beers on tap as well. Need to try it.

  10. Interesting invite from the White Sox. This may be the strongest link I've seen between the current ownership group and Ishbia's stadium proposal. Sounds like a good idea to ask for fans input on ballpark features and amenities. I don't remember Jerry and Eddie doing that in 1989.
  11. Should be a reasonable expectation for Sox to range from #12-18 in spending (Brewers 19th, fwiw) in GRF and at least 9-12 in the first five years of new downtown facility...perhaps even slightly higher. Basically that's a $145-170 million range. It was much higher from 2021-23.
  12. Yes, because the Ishbia group didn't spend big in the NBA with its salary cap. Why do you insist on just making things up to get mad about?
  13. I thought that the combined wealth of the Ishbia nepo babies and their father was a big reason that some fans thought they might be big spenders. OK but where has Mat Ishbia been.. in Michigan or AZ? It sounds like he is now asserting himself as co-owner
  14. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hanktucker/2026/10/29/the-billion-dollar-reason-mlb-team-owners-are-willing-to-risk-a-lockout/ Forbes is now protecting an average $1 billion per team franchise valuation increase with a hard cap No shock that JR wanted to hold on until 2029 at least...jump from $1.8 billion to $2.8 billion Sox valuation (plus control shares) puts another $600 million in the pockets of his family @ 60% team ownership (Ishbia brothers @ +/-40%). Average MLB team jumps to $3.9 billion NBA to $6.13 billion NFL franchises to $9.53 billion The stark valuation gap between the two leagues comes down to a few major structural differences. NBA franchises are worth roughly double MLB teams ($6.1 billion average vs. $2.6 billion average) primarily due to superior national media revenue, a global fan footprint, and the structural "payroll certainty" provided by the NBA's salary cap. [1, 2, 3] While Major League Baseball clubs are still highly valuable assets, their financial architecture has stagnated compared to the rapid exponential growth of the NBA.
  15. "Interesting that Mat Ishbia now comes out in support of Reinsdorf and other Owners for a salary cap." All thirty ownership groups are united...except for maybe the Dodgers or Mets, who would be surrendering their extravagant spending/contract deferral advantages over the rest of baseball. Not even clear Mark Walter will be able to hold onto the Dodgers at this point. The Dodgers and Mets' Stance: The ownership groups for the Dodgers and the Mets have notably remained opposed to or hesitant about a salary cap. As the two highest-spending teams in the league (with payrolls and luxury tax bills eclipsing hundreds of millions of dollars), both franchises benefit from the current system of high spending and luxury taxes rather than a rigid cap that would restrict their ability to spend.
  16. " it's been clearly settled law that railroads can do these kind of things on their own property." Not sure whether Amtrak owns all of the subject land in fee simple, has easements or rights of way ... or if any of that even matters if the ISFA is not going to question any of it, for example, "In response to questions from Block Club sent after the meeting, a spokesperson for Amtrak said there is a “railroad-owned easement” to a ramp in Lot G that would allow it to build on the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority property. " The Ishbias and Amtrak appear to have lawyered up on this. Regarding the proposed Railyard stadium site, is there a contract for the additional BNSF land to the West of it ? I have read that the Ishbia Brothers were negotiating to obtain it or alternatively for air rights so that Tollway style pedstrian bridges might be constructed over those tracks, as depicted on some of the AI Railyard renderings. Interesting that Mat Ishbia now comes out in support of Reinsdorf and other Owners for a salary cap. The Ishbias and Amtrak stand to benefit from over $600 million in federal grants to move the rail yard. Ishbias have duked in 125 Million which is contingent on the deal getting done and then that amount will be refunded to them. LOL. What a deal - free property that is essentially pre-leased with two big Isbia bros. middle fingers to the South side while taxpayers are left with an abandoned stadium and acres of vacant land next to a massive rail yard. Oh yea, they will get this done but fvk them.

  20. Michael Soroka has officially declined his end of a $10MM mutual option with the Diamondbacks, reports Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. He’ll be paid a $1MM buyout and return to free agency. This was inevitable, as Soroka has put himself in position to do pretty well financially. The Diamondbacks picked him up on a $7.5MM deal last offseason. (He earned an additional $1.35MM in performance bonuses by starting 20 games.) He was initially slated to open the season in a swing role, but an Opening Day injured list stint for Merrill Kelly drew him into the starting five.
  21. MLB Trade RumorsAstros Hire Randy Flores As General ManagerIn a surprise turn of events, it's Randy Flores -- not Matt Kleine -- who's now the Astros general manager. MLB Trade Rumors has more.Brewers' AGM apparently turned it down, not getting the specific title he was going after Josh Barfield one of 5-6 finalists.

  23. ”Still, it is not entirely a coincidence that clubs in European soccer leagues—which also lack a salary cap—have similarly lagged behind the NFL and the NBA with their revenue multiples and their appreciation. Investors are willing to pay a premium for cost certainty—the predictability that comes with a salary cap curbing how much they can expect to spend from year to year.”
  24. I have to believe the NBA is at risk here given how hard it is to find any NBA game in any given night. But I digress.
  25. Sure, but the chemistry was stoney was so bad it's obvious they didn't like each other.
