$75M = One of the worst White Sox LF Seasons
wrathofhahn replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I mean I haven't sat down and calculated the WAR from picks during his entire tenure. I am just going off memory and what I've seen from other GM's. It doesn't really matter because his FA record is so atrocious. i remember reading an article about his FA signings where they used the WAR dollars feature of fangraphs to figure out the difference between what Hahn paid for and what he received and he literally has cost Jerry almost half a billion dollars more than what they should have over the course of 50 FA signings. And that is just over what an average GM would be able to do. Good GM's manage to sign flyer type FA and extract value from unlikely places like the Rays manage to do every year. But yeah I think people here have a warped idea what average is. Average isn't good, it's mediocre. I am not saying Hahn is a good drafter or trader just that it's not his worst attribute. -
Not the end of Jake Burger but it remains to be seen if his future MLB career is that of a good hitter or replacement level player. 17 games doesn't really tell us anything except it does even out the trade more for the Marlins perspective because whether he replicates this or not moving forward the rest of his career Marlins need to win games now.

He has had a couple of good series but anyone who believes at this point he has fundamentally changed as a hitter I feel sorry for. It's 17 games and a handful of at bats. Glad the Marlins recognized what he was doing previously wasnt going to be sustainable in the long run but its way to early to know whether Burger is going to be successful changing his approach at the plate.

Hahn actually has done alright on trades and been about average hitting on prospects. But hes been absolutely f'n god awful in free agency. Wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on barely replacement level players. FA should really should be the easiest part the job but time and time he wastes money on guys which absolutely kills our ability to field a competitive team. The worst part is Beni had a .352 BABIP last year. This is around what his normalized OPS should have been last year. Anyone with half a brain could have seen this coming. Infact his xWOBP (his expected weighted OBA) was .334 according to fangraphs his actual OBP so far this year is you guessed it .334. His slugging and ISO numbers are a bit down and he probably a bit better than his power numbers this year but when we signed him we should known what he was. He never was going to be the 122 wRC+ of last year. -
Being able to basically end the Yankees season would be a great end to a truly godawful year. Not expecting much but it happens it would be great

I have a problem with the way he answered because they were obvious lies. It further reduces what is left of his credibility when he tells such obvious falsehoods. Things like they targeted clubhouse malcontents to trade. Things like a reliever never fell asleep. He doesn't know. Heck he didn't even know the MLB had already announced the TA decision hours prior. He is not in the clubhouse I trust the relievers version of events over his. What he should have said is I am not in the bullpen on a regular basis but grifol assured me no such situation took place. That at least would have been crediable That he talked of fixing the clubhouse that was not a focus on the post trade deadline coverage or the pre deadline coverage. He intentionally kept the public in the dark about issues in the clubhouse And on and on
-
One of the things that was jarring for me was Hahn speaking of waiting for MLB to make a decision on Tim Anderson when it had already been announced hours before by the MLB. Clueless til the end
-
Thought the same thing more importantly Tim Anderson and Grandal are still here Complete BS
-
Since we are all about small sample sizes the Marlins are 1-5 since the trade and now out of the wildcard. Burger has a .653 OPS as a Marlin.
-
Lets be honest now that Rodon has his longterm deal he never was going to stay healthy. Some players like being on the IL.
-
Who cares that this is response from someone who knows he is a deadman walking
-
Hahn didn't move guys to improve the clubhouse he moved guys who had value on shortterm deals to receive prospects. Tim Anderson and Grandal are still here for FFS. Flat out lie and furthermore prior to the deadline Hahn and Grifol was not talking about improving the clubhouse culture. Hahn also talked about what stays in clubhouse should stay in clubhouse. Whose interest does that silence serve? The simple answer is his own ass. We knew the performance of this team and certain players have been bad but noone knew the clubhouse was as bad as it is.

I'd rather allow a new GM to put their own guy play in place
-
Look I would have fired him earlier but he realistically wasn't going to be fired after 2020 or 2021 despite there being warning signs about his inability to use FA or trades to fill out the roster. So yes he fired him one year too late after he gets fired this year. He oversaw a rebuild and failed. It is time to move on
-
It's pointless for one he owns the team so he isn't going anywhere and two owners are very rarely heavily involved in the day to day decision making of teams. So it's wasted energy on two fronts and most importantly on the blame pie chart I'd rather blame the persons directly. Hahn should and will be fired at the end of the year. Grifol likely as well as they should be. Those two decisions will make the biggest difference along with cleaning out the clubhouse

Yankees place struggling Carlos Rodon on IL in latest setback The hamstring issue is the latest setback for Rodon, whose season was delayed by a forearm muscle strain and back discomfort. After signing a six-year, $162 million contract in the offseason, he did not make his Yankees debut until July 7. Exactly a month later, he is back on the shelf. In his six starts between IL stints, Rodon posted a 7.33 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 18 walks in 27 innings. https://nypost.com/2023/08/07/yankees-place-carlos-rodon-on-il-with-hamstring-injury/

Are they going to announce they have fired themselves? Otherwise what could they say that will be remotely interesting.
