I read your post after my previous. That's what I'm thinking. Shirley seems to be a lot better at this than Hostetler. From interviews I've heard of Hostetler, he hadn't impressed me as much more than a toadie.

Maybe they're forced to get more creative when the pick isn't basically made for them by all the bloggers and mock draft guys.

No, I haven't made an argument at all. Just pointing out that in the last 11 drafts, or so, outside of Rodon (3, 2014), we've done better with guys picked at 11 or later. Just an observation. You don't have to seethe and argue with that.

Fulmer (8), Collins (10), Madrigal (3), and Vaughn (4) were all top ten picks. Sale (13), Anderson (17), Burger (11), Crochet (11), Montgomery (22), Schultz (26), and Gonzalez (15) weren't. Rodon's the only top 10 they've hit on, recently. You're welcome for the knowledge.

It's been pointed out that Paddy didn't get the same title as the other "directors". He's not so made.

I liked both trades. Some of the FutureSox guys were saying that the draft pick is probably the most valuable thing we got for Santos. I didn't watch the game. Nastrini had one bad game at AAA after being optioned, and he seemed to right the ship in 3 starts. He's good, but does experience control issues. I think he's a guy who stabilizes, and eats innings for a couple years until the real guys (Noah Schultz, Grant Taylor, Jairo Iriarte, Mason Adams) come up.

Benintendi is great at those 9 pitch groundouts. Perhaps there's a playoff bound team missing that.

Colas is also OPSing .630 away from Truist Field. I also wonder if the incident where he was benched for getting picked off of first base is more common than we've heard about. DeLoach's OPS away is .667.
