I guess I'm being argumentative with this, but if Benintendi is playing 2 bWAR baseball, why trade him? We have no OF depth, he's not blocking anybody, and that's probably fair value for his contract.
The Marlins just bought Christian Bethancourt's contract from the Guardians. He was picked off of waivers from the Rays. Looks like a week of catcher musical chairs.
That's what I was talking about. Guys like Severino, Manaea or Flaherty. Frankie Montas. If Lance Lynn is worth $10 million, these guys look like 2/25 or 3/40 candidates.
I don't know anything. But I'm guessing the KW/Hahn dynamic was purely toxic. The fact that such a big deal was made about a single decision maker says to me that a lot of mixed messages were flying around at so many levels.
I find it weird that they're even getting priced out of the bounce-back or show-me contract market. I'm liking the "island of misfit toys" assemblage of cast-offs.
Aaron Bummer, Jarred Kelenic, David Fletcher, PTBNL from Pirates, PTBNL from White Sox.
Can you point out which of these guys are premium talent? Looks like they got 2 projects in Bummer and Kelenic, and a utility infielder.
I feel like Hahn gave up, and KW fought with any actual direction he wanted to take. I'm glad the two of them are gone, and am excited to see what kind of rebuild Getz pursues.
Sox fan to wife: Oh, come on, now. I'm sure my mother didn't assign you this ethnic dish to make and bring to Christmas Eve dinner to humiliate you. It's her way of including you in our family's traditions. You women just make up things to worry about!!
Headline: Reinsdorf Meets With Nashville Mayor
Sox fan: OMG!!! What if he just springs this on us next June, and we wasted 6 months where we could have been worrying about this 24/7?!?!?
The question posed was whether Jerry R. had the "stomach" to spend in the right areas. I'm sure he's not trying to lose. And I'm sure that if he had a trusted GM telling him he needed a larger stats department, he would do that. We act like JR won't let anyone in his organization use cell phones, or whatnot.
Atlanta sees themselves as competing for a World Series in 2024. There's no room for Soroka. The Sox are rebuilding. He fills a hole nicely.
Everybody here thinks Rick Hahn and KW were the biggest idiots on the face of the Earth. When they were "desperate", they traded Steele Walker and Konnor Pilkington to fill holes. I'm not sure why everybody thinks other teams will be dumber than the dumbest organization on Earth when it comes to filling holes on their roster.
They spend their entire domestic pool every year. Depending on the 1st rounder, they go right up to the "lose next year's 1st round pick" limit.
I don't know if you're referring to Atlanta or the White Sox buying long term assets for short term costs. The Sox get two rookie pitchers and Soroka for Bummer.
