  1. I think Jenny Cavnar irks a lot of dudes.
  2. If a couple teams like the Red Sox stay hot, that takes a bunch of supply off the market. If a guy like Reid Detmers is really available, he's going to get bid up quick. I see the Cubs as "all in". This is their window. I don't necessarily see the White Sox as "all in". It's an opportunity, but not big enough to blow it all up to push the cart up the hill three more feet.
  3. I'd think Grichuk gets you a AA junk-baller like Slater did. He's a solid RH bench bat. Maybe Pereira can do that if he returns intact, but what's the point of trading Grichuk? Again, he doesn't bring back a prospect worth anything, and he probably doesn't get you a big league starting pitcher.
  4. Gonzo passes the eye test with me. He's got a sweet swing and seems to have pared back the strikeouts. He doesn't look overmatched, and I think there's more ceiling to find with plate appearances. He's given low positive fWAR at 1B, of all places. His bat plays better at 2B. He's solid defensively. Is he a "plus" major league hitter? I don't know if I'd call him that, but he's a proven big league option in the infield with 6 full years of control. I'd guess any team could plug him into a position and he'd give average production.
  5. The Sox would have to go 23-47 to finish the season with 70 wins. That's a 51-win/162 pace. If enough key players got injured and they did about that, how in the world would that be an "embarrassment"?
  6. ex-White Sox reliever coming to the mound with a big chip on his shoulder.
  7. He seems kind of "fixed", although, Boston just put up 5 runs in 5 IP in his last start. Boston Red Sox vs Los Angeles Angels Box Score: July 3, 2026 | Baseball-Reference.com
  8. I've moved onto the guy who fucks with scammers.
  9. Joe Rock and Tyler Davis are just that lefty-righty combo that pushes a team through the dog days.
  10. If somebody sticks a microphone in his face and asks him a question, he's going to talk about God and stuff. It's not like he's texting you and me.
  11. So, Cease has a no-hitter through 8 in SF. The Blue Jays were up 7-0 and put up a 3-spot in the top of the ninth. Now A. Kirk got a hit with 2 outs. I would think that with a 10-run lead, they wouldn't want to stretch out an inning, or would they want to get Cease more rest between innings?
  12. I'd get the straight As/perfect attendance tickets and would go to a few games with my dad back in the early 70s. He would leave me in the seats, there was probably another family nearby to keep an eye on me, and he'd get a couple shots and beers somewhere.
  13. Of course. You're right. But again, Thorpe was a top 40 prospect. There is no disputing that. I think it was fairly well agreed upon that he got the mandate to trade Cease in spring training, and there was probably one deal on the table. Getz got what he could.
  14. It's gonna be so great when Eisert finally throws a strike.
  15. Two hard hit balls. Zero base-runners.
  16. It does. Thorpe's injured, Iriarte was DFAed, now reborn. Wilson helped bring us Murray and Pereira, and Samuel Zavala may ... I don't know, keep CF warm at Birmingham for Fauske.
  17. Oh, he's a great guy. Just givin' him some chin music. Hey, he certainly puts in the work required to have what, 30k followers? That's fairly prodigious for a non-Political agitator.
  18. Thorpe was like, top 40 prospect in the game. It's not like they traded for my Aunt out of Dunning.
  19. I ain't gonna call Junior Perez Junior anymore!!
