  1. I believe they forfeited it for signing Adam Dunn.
  2. I'm just taking in you thinking the term "group opinion" is that funny.
  3. I'm not "surprised" that fans who watch every rally killing strikeout ruminate on the bad rather than focus on the bigger story told by the stats. You generally mock people who understand that a guy struggling here still has value beyond yesterday's popout.
  4. Dude, I'm aware that game threads are negative and do try to avoid. Point being that all over the internet, people get on and emote over every strikeout and whatnot (not a criticism of your site, so relax), and reading that, one would get the impression that Luis Robert has no business playing baseball anymore. Chicago White Sox dude's opinion (and others') adds weight to the reality side of the group opinion. Robert's value is not zero.
  5. Conversely, talking a player down isn't some much-needed stream of "truth-telling". I think you're being mostly fair about Robert, here, but I find my attitude towards players drifting towards dread just from reading the game threads and all, then I'm surprised when reading a national viewpoint of a player that doesn't frame them as total s%*# who offends everybody just by being alive. I'm happy for Chicago White Sox dude to offer some balance on the view of Robert, not because I love Chris Getz and it destroys my world to read negativity, but because he is being realistic in the face of resentful dudes skewing our expectations towards DFA-land. While the ship of Arroyo+ has sailed, I trust Getz is still targeting some post-hype project or two to rehab.
  6. Yeah. This exercise is exhausting, and I'm happy to look forward to what Getz has planned for a slight infusion of Ishbia cash this TDL and off-season.
  7. Well, if they can't trade him and then pick up his option, that's probably a sure sign that Ishbia is throwing money at the team. If every team who needs a RH bat says no at the deadline, I don't know what 2 more months of anything is going to prove. Right now, he's a guy who is prone to 4-6 months of sub-.600 OPS production. And really, picking up his options and hoping for him to rebuild his value by TDL 2026 is like spending around $18M for a 45 FV prospect. They could just spend that on the next Japanese kid this off-season and move on.
  8. If Vargas enters June of 2026 OPSing .530 with no change in sight, I think we all will be ready to give the next guy a shot at his at-bats.
  9. There are multiple conversations around Vargas due to his acquisition, Getz' judgement, Sox development, etc. Sosa doesn't inspire multiple angles. Nobody's going to declare Sosa a bust to kill the buzz around a trade. I think both have value. Vargas looks like he can be an adequate fielder. Sosa inspires doubt about his defense.
  10. Oh, yeah. I agree. There's no way to value him right now, but I think he's shown the propensity to work on his game. I wanted to tag onto the convo, and picked on you.
  11. Vargas was ass for his first 22 games. He OPSed .890 from 4/23-6/22. He then dropped off and got one hit in 9 games. He's hit in 2 of the last 3. This is what "playing the kids and letting them figure it out in the bigs" looks like. This is his first full season in the big leagues. The fact that he'll probably put it together again and clear 2 bWAR by the end of the season is a tremendous win.
  12. I went to the last home game last year. The lady sold us cheap upper deck tickets and told us to sit where we wanted in the lower deck.
  13. As the happy company man of the board, I'm here to say that, while I'm not rooting for him to do poorly, I'm ready for Josh Rojas to be the DFA for Robert's return. Let's see how Tristan Gray looks.
  14. So if another team calls looking to trade for a guy who looks reborn, pitching the best he has in his career, and can be a factor in getting to the playoffs, offer them the guy who looks like he's ramping down for the year?
  15. I believe some hypothesized he may have had an opt out, and the Sox wanted to keep him.
  16. I wish Andrew Vaughn and the Brewers all of the 100 RC+ he's got in him.
  17. But when they pick the slots, are the Rockies in the actual lottery to get picked? Even though they can't pick 1st? Or do just 2 teams have a 18% chance of being picked first (the 2nd and 3rd worst records, and the Rockies just slot in at 10?
  18. As far as the draft lottery, am I correct in assuming that the Rockies are still in the lottery, but regardless of where they're picked, they pick 10? So if they're picked first and the Sox 2nd, the White Sox end up with the first pick and the Rockies move down 9 spots? That would increase our chances of getting #1.
  19. Unless it's for the proverbial bucket of balls, I doubt any trade of Tim Elko would be a bad trade.
  20. So Rizzo finally pays for changing his mind with KW on that Edwin Jackson for Adam Dunn trade.
  21. Maybe Aaron Boone puts the ball in his hand for a batter, says something profound, and it re-energizes him for the rest of his career.
  22. I'd be down with a Tristan Gray for either Rojas or Noda swap. Gray could be a roving platoon with Vargas, Meidroth and Sosa. The reality is he's probably a lesser version of Rojas. I'm a fan of the roster churn.
