  1. He’ll be ready to pitch before 2021 (just like Rodon), but he won’t be with the big league club right away. Dunning hasn’t even thrown in AAA yet, so he’ll need to work his way up still once he’s back.
  2. You’re right. What I said didn’t make much sense. I was thinking more along the lines of this...the guy who the Sox take is a bust and the other guy is a superstar. I won’t complain if that happens because I can understand the argument of taking either guy. But with the order that I ranked my guys and my sentence that you bolded, it didn’t make much sense. I just hate when people complain about draft picks using hindsight. If you like somebody much more than another guy, let’s hear it right now. Then you have every right to complain in the future if you were right and the Sox were wrong (not “you” in particular, Lillian).
  3. I almost started a thread like this, but it shouldn’t be in the form of a poll. Everyone should rank their top 5, including a brief summary on how they feel about Vaughn vs. Abrams. Here’s mine: 1. Rutschman 2. Witt 3. Vaughn 4. Abrams 5. Bleday Between Vaughn and Abrams, I won’t be mad at either. I’ve gone back and forth on them both, and I prefer Vaughn now, but not to the extent where I would complain five years from now if Abrams is a superstar and Vaughn is a bust.
  4. If Gordon Beckham spent another year at AAA, do you think he would have turned out differently?
  5. The absolute latest Robert should be with the big league team is late April of next year (after the free year of service date has passed).
  6. If you could guarantee Vaughn would turn into the same player as Paul Goldschmidt, would you rather take Vaughn or roll the dice on Abrams?
  7. I almost posted this same thing yesterday. Get him up to Winston-Salem.
  8. Where do the rumors that the Sox like Abrams stem from? Is it just that we’ve sent several scouts (including KW) to see him multiple times?
  9. Hansen came in for the final four outs for Birmingham and didn’t allow a base runner. 2 K’s on 21 total pitches (13 for strikes).
  10. Do you also think basketball players should shoot 100% from the free throw line?
  11. Madrigal just walked in his fifth at bat. 2-4 with a BB.
  12. Still can’t believe Ricky moved Yonder down to 7th in the lineup last week. Perfect cleanup hitter.
  13. Madrigal 2-3 now. Both singles.
  14. Thanks for the update. That’s actually somewhat of a relief.
  15. I promise you it was not on purpose.
  16. I missed his excellent start a month ago, where he struck out 14 over six innings. How did that happen? Doesn’t seem possible with how he’s looked lately. Was his slider working that day?
  17. The catcher never caught the ball, but I think you’re right that the slide somehow snuck in there anyway.
  18. He must have been at second base when the third run scored.
  19. What would it take for Baltimore to take Vaughn? If Vaughn thought he would slip to 5 or 6, would he be more likely to strike a major under slot deal? And if that’s the case, would it benefit the Sox to show a lot of interest in Abrams, even if they preferred Vaughn, in the hopes that it would increase the chances of Vaughn going #1 and Rutschman dropping to them? Does this make any sense? If not, I’ll show myself out and shut up.
  20. No, it wasn’t him. Now some are saying could be back or oblique. So basically nobody knows at this point.
  21. Jesus Christ. According to the Twitters, it didn’t look good. Flores was bent over in pain holding his forearm.
  22. Sorry if I missed it, but when is Bush due back?
  23. All fair points. I haven’t watched any of his at bats, so I couldn’t tell you if he’s been lucky or it he’s been hitting shots right at guys. I don’t think many people are comforted by his stats. I just think it’s too early to panic, like some seem to be doing.
