Agreed. Cheers!

I'm not trying to spin anything, and I agree with what you are saying, but I'm just stating what I think the tweet meant. I wouldn't have worded it like that myself, but that's what I think he meant. Do you really think Corbin is a higher priority than Machado/Harper?
-
The original post is saying he is the top priority "so far". It does not mean we are not going after Machado/Harper.
-
Agreed. But some people are saying they won't choose to play here even if we offer the most money because they don't want to play for a losing team. So how about we offer the most money AND show them we are ready to start competing? You have to try everything in your power to lure them here, even if it only slightly improves your chances.
-
Except now we have a good farm system with players that can come up and supplement the roster. If Corbin is only a #3/#4 type pitcher, I have no problem with him being in the middle of a rotation with guys like Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Cease, Dunning, Giolito, etc. (even if he is getting ace money). Then you try for another big name guy next year and the year after through free agency or trade.
-
I look at it like this: The number one priority is obviously signing Machado/Harper. Therefore, you do everything in your power to improve your chances. If it doesn't work and those two big fish sign elsewhere, is Corbin's contract really going to hurt us? We will still have a low payroll.
-
How about signing Corbin in order to improve your chances of landing Machado/Harper?
-
Key phrase is "so far". Right now, he is the top priority. Sign him, and then it becomes easier to get Machado because you have shown you aren't messing around.
-
If everyone stays injury free moving forward, could Kopech, Cease, and Dunning all be in the rotation at the start of the 2020 season? Or did Dunning's timeline move back a little with his injury? I can't remember how many innings he has put up the past couple of seasons. (obviously they would have to stay healthy AND be pitching well, but I'm just asking about their timelines more than anything)

White sox active in starting pitching market

If they spend 100+ million on Corbin, I think the odds of getting Harper or Machado stay the same. Actually, the odds might even slightly increase. -
Are you not entertaining it because you don't think we will make a true push for them by offering them as much as any other team? Or are you not entertaining it because you don't think Harper or Machado will want to play for the White Sox, even if we have an offer on the table that is as good as any other team's? I'm quoting TaylorSt, but this question is also for Dick Allen.

Robert played on Monday and Wednesday this week and rested Tuesday and Thursday. I imagine he will be back in the lineup tonight. On Wednesday, he went 1-3 with a double and a BB. Laz Rivera went 4-6 with 3 runs scored last night. Burdi has been pitching well in limited action. He still is yet to give up an earned run in 4.2 innings. 5 K's and 1 BB over that span. -

Top White Sox Prospects by Position: Starting Pitchers
SoxBlanco replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
Flores has been one of my favorite prospects to follow. I would probably have him higher on the list, but I am partial to guys who know how to throw strikes and change speeds. I know strikeouts are everybody's favorite thing these days, but I'll take a guy who has learned how to get guys out all day. I can see him as a back end part of the rotation in 2-3 years. -
I believe it is how many plays he made defensively that were out of the normal "fielding zone". So it's basically showing how many extra plays he was able to make due to his range. I'm no expert, though, so somebody can confirm.

Hated the decision to take Freeland out. If a guy is pitching that well and you have the lead, you don’t over-manage and make a move.

Taught me more about the game of baseball than anyone else. It was truly awesome having someone in the booth that wanted the Sox to win as much as I did. Cheers!

Game night Tuesday September 18th Chicago at Cleveland

What exactly did he say? I’m a big fan of The Wire, but I missed the game, so I’m curious. I’m assuming it had to be something with Omar. Omar comin? -
Are you saying you think his ceiling is David Eckstein?
-
Very true. That'll be pretty interesting if he chooses to discuss it.
-
Even if he signs somewhere else, we will never know if he is holding a grudge. Plenty of players sign elsewhere and have no grudge at all.
-
What’s the deal with Bush? Hasn’t been in the lineup for a few days. Sorry if it was discussed in another thread.

Every single affiliate (including the Sox) played a one run game yesterday. Three extra inning wins, and three one run losses.

Looked like his shin, but I’m not really sure.
