I would think it is a team concern. The team would need to write Tim a check if he is being switched to third. He had a decent season. A couple more veterans could take the glare off of Anderson and Moncada.

The Yankees and Red Sox keep extra hitters around who compete for playing time. Not a terrible idea unless you are a big Adam Engel fan.

If it turns out that the Boras-Harper venture was just waiting for the Dodgers to clean house then we have all been played.
-
His name would naturally come up because he is being moved, happens to be Cuban and we need OF help. I suppose it is a chicken or omelette thingy with not facilitating the Dodger's position to harpoon Bryce. My thought being that if Puig was being recycled sure we would take a look. Puig is not in a market position to pressure teams to open their wallets regardless of his contract status. The oddest thing about Puig is that he does not hit lefties well.

His ops is actually worse than the guys we already have.

Nice depth piece could make up for losing Narvaez bat. Surprised that people are dismissive of Palka.

Sounds like Harper is waiting on LA to move some bodies. If it does not work out he might just as well play here. Maybe the Dodgers would send us Puig. Scott Boras is in Heaven with the Sox jumping into the market. This is what he lives for. My view is to set limits with time and money, and don't get caught up in the market madness.

Rosenthal: Could Harper be headed to the southside
pcq replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox win rumor mill. Contract delayed one week while they convert Kraft Kave to a daycare nursery for Mrs Harper. -
When you deal with Boras you might as well say here is $350M, we will take it back in ten days and spend it on someone else.

He actually said a front-runner and a deal is not imminent. Phil's Dodgers or Sox. -

Due diligence is covering the bases in case you make a connection some where. After picking up a million slugs you might find a gold nugget. -
During a long career Harold was among the top 5-6 hitters in many notable offensive categories. Although he is a very low-key guy fact is that 12 of the committee members have a very high opinion of him. Part of the reaction may be explained because he was an under the radar kind of guy. He should have only played for one team.

There could be some truth in there but the real reason Baines got in was owing to respect from his peers. They were the ones in a position to best know.
-
Paul Richards once said that Harold Baines would be stopping by Chicago for some years on his way to Cooperstown.
-
Harold might be similar somewhat to a Bryce Harper.

Getting in is hard enough but who is going to read his speech??? Traded for Samuel Sosa lolololol the irony. Nobody missed Sounds a little ambitious. Not quite a hiatal hernia but definitely straining. I had no idea people had even heard of Harold Baines.

Remember how the Sox kept getting rid of Luis and Harold. No class.

I assume Jordan Stephens will get a fair look in the desert camp. They need another starter or two better than Shields or Miguel Gonzalez. Spencer Adams could be added to the relief corps.
