  1. Clogging is no longer an unqualified item of emphasis in MLB. If you have a couple of productive fence-busters you look the other way. The grindy guys can do your un-clogging as needed. They need Vaughn to perform at an .850 OPS level to become a fixture at 1B.
  2. This one is a head-scratcher. If JR is basically the Trump of Chicago in real estate, did he do anything of note to make Bridgeport/ Armor Square a more desirable destination. I know there were a number of upgrades made east of the Ryan before the bubble burst in 2008 but if JR is our Chicago RE mogul what hath he wrought??
  3. Having good gloves is the only way to max out at 70 W's. The new pitching is likely 4A fodder but maybe a couple of turds will float to the top of the barrell. Getz is a ham and egger, small-timer. Good match for a droll Grifol. Strictly second division personnel but JR will choose to hate us instead of himself.
  4. Question assuming the new park faces NE instead of SE how do the wind patterns factor in and what should the dimensions be? My first guess would be to add five feet distance to the walls all around and see how it plays. There might be an algorithm for analyzing this.
  5. The issue is two non-sluggers in the corners hosting teams in a home run park. The Sox are vary gracious to their guests. If the visitors are hitting more HR we can guess the results.
  6. They don't need a new park in Bridgeport. They need a new park where people want to hang out and act stupid. I like Bridgeport.
  7. I see no evidence of a rebuild. Just picking up warm bodies and treading water is not a rebuild. Maybe they will try harder this year.
  8. Sox are extra-bad at these kind of maneuvers. He can play for Charlotte.
  9. Loyal fan since 1970, I have finally reached the point where my interest in the Sox is equal to the Sox interest in me.
  10. I'm thinking Loop workers would have a nice mile long trek down to the yard and walking groups could easily congregate on Clark St. for this purpose. Sounds like a pleasant outing for me and my betrothed. I would also consider renaming the team at this juncture.
  11. Bridgeport like Reinsdorf has done very little for the White Sox. It is hardly a draw for the team.
  12. Pedro is the Andy Reid of MLB. Can't-miss hero. Not much ST news it seems.
  13. Public help will be infrastructure and pollution remediation. Many of us will be at the cemetery when The 78 opens.
  14. I joined up in 1970 which might have been their worst season, 106L. Current state is now football and non-Sox baseball are getting more of my attention as time goes on and maybe soccer is next. I also remember the Milwaukee White Sox of 1968-1969. Had the Seattle Pilots not piloted into County Stadium in 1970, things might have become interesting. Bud Selig might have helped save our team for Chicago.
  15. Bridgeport/ Armor Square would be an easier site to develop but has done little or nothing to produce hordes of Sox fans. Moving closer to downtown where a lot of people work would provide an upgrade to the Sox image imo. There would be a better opportunity to attract casual fans who are scared of the big bad South Side. Unfortunate but true. I have never had an issue with the South Side or taking the Green Line to games.
  16. Silly media tripe. Home plate is far away.
  17. You have a major collaboration looming with roles and categories yet to be determined. Add Chicago graft and profit margins to the mix and you have a very challenging situation. The wild cards are JR and toxic pollution.
  18. I actually heard/read that the Salt Lake ballpark could become their temporary housing. It is generally safe to assume delays with projects of this nature. If you do not have the city fathers on your side, forget it.
  19. Sounds like a potentially great setting for our new downtown team. I don't think they will miss Bridgeport too badly.
  20. Amazing that it was ever put off. They just don't like their fans.
  21. Connor will get plenty of work when Schriffen is doing network bowling broadcasts. Can't wait until smarmy Steve works out his new shtick with the trainee. Schriffen will angle a new gig with ESPORTS now that he is in demand. MVC babes volleyball could be in the cards.
  22. He figures to be Reinsdorf's turd-polishing minion. Just my guess. Has he ever been to GRF? No connection with anything local of importance to me. Get the cue cards ready.
