The Sox have done this often where they score 3 or 4 out of the gate then nothing more. It's going to take 7-8 runs to win this game.

Damn that was stressful but at the same time it was great! This was the first playoff experience for most these guys and the first time for Venable as a manager. I think it's fair to say they all measured up to the moment.

Would love to see C. Montgomery break out today. You can see he is really in his own head big time. These are the games you see who shrinks and who you can depend on to step up. Get that playoff spot clinched and I think we will see this team relax and make some noise in the playoffs.

I get it believe me. I have been on this ride with the Sox for well over 50 years. You do what you got to do to get through these games and these seasons. Baseball is unique in that the season is so long with so many games that you really get emotionally invested as a fan. Right now I just want this team to make the playoffs. Of course I would love to see them win the Division but just making the playoffs would be so great after the last 3 years. Also it would be great experience for all the young guys on this team and something to really build on.

You don't give up yet on a 24 yr old who has the potential to be a 40 HR guy. Does he have to show improvement next year as far as making more consistent contact at the plate, of course. He knows that better than anyone. He will have to get things figured out this off season. If he is the same guy at the plate next year then you probably have a decision to make come the trading deadline.

Let's finish this regular season thing going 8-0.

Boston has their best 3 starters going. I don't know how long they will let them go but I would guess they are going to attack these 3 with Cleveland pretty normally. They might rest some starters this weekend closer to the playoffs starting. You don't want your hitters having too much time off heading to the post season.

I'm just trying to be realistic. As a 50 yr Sox fan I'm as excited as heck for this last week. I have also gone through enough heartbreak with this club to know it won't be easy.

Any Sox fan who has been one for any length of time will be sweating every pitch until they clinch. Nothing will be easy this week, I don't care who the opponent is. Teams that have been eliminated are often the most dangerous as they have no pressure whatsoever and would like nothing more than to knock a team out of the playoffs.

This time of the season you have no idea what your going to get from teams that are eliminated from the playoffs. Saying that, there has always been kind of an unwritten rule that teams that are eliminated put their best team on the field when playing teams that are still in the race. In other words nobody is going to be rolling over for the Sox these last 6 games. Both the Royals and the Rockies can hit enough to give you problems. What neither of them do well is pitch. Both are in the bottom 4 in MLB in team ERA. The Sox bats need to come alive this last week. Another thing you can't predict is how will the pressure effect the Sox. Clinching a playoff spot in the final 6 games will be stressful. You have some players that thrive in that pressure and some that wilt away. Let's hope the Sox have way more in the former category then the latter.

Huge props to this team coming back and winning 2 after that really tough loss Friday. Let's finish on a 8 game winning streak!
