Made one mistake.

He did get a little screwed that pitch that was called a strike that was off the plate set up that curve to end it.

It drove in a run and it lead to two. Why wouldn’t he?

Grichuk is lucky he whiffed on that throw because he was out by about 3 steps.

I checked his last start and it was still really long. They must have asked him to.

He doesn’t really play consistently and has been totally fine in his role the last two months or so.

I asked myself the same thing. It’d be pretty crappy if they did it to a guy they traded for. It’d be one thing if you signed as a FA and knew but would be crappy to enforce it on a trade.

He doesn’t walk guys. He induces a lot of weak contact early in counts.

Ya I thought he looked like he was finding a nice groove at the end. He only threw 67 pitches. So it wasn’t like he wasn’t pretty efficient even with the walks. He was like that in his starts at the majors once he settled in. Went 6 a lot on under 100 pitches.

No he wasn’t. He also got better as the game went. He had a nice finish before they pulled him bc of pitch count. Gave up 1 er in 4 innings. Lot of swing and miss at the end.

Ya I’m sure being home is going to be a big shot in the arm. I know they’ve had off days but traveling like that and only being home for 6 days would be hard for anyone to not be tired.

They look young and tired. They’ve been on the road a lot against a lot of good teams since the all star break they’ve only played 6 games at home. Being home could help do wonders for them.

It would be nice if someone would tell the hitters to stop hunting fastballs from a guy who has shown you he’s not going to throw many. It’s like knuckle ball rules at this point. If it’s low it won’t be a strike.

I don't think there's an issue with protecting a rookie against tougher match ups for him in the middle of a division race. Eventually he needs to hit against lefties. Also, with the way Will uses his bench, its not like he wont be in the game at some point. Also, left in Fenway is tricky to play especially if you've never been there.

In what way?

The Sox are the best team in the Division. It was questionable until maybe mid June but not anymore. If the Sox don't win the Division it will be because they lost it, not that anyone else won it.

I do find the Detmers love interesting. He had a good June but other then that? Meh. He's only gone past 5 innings once in July. And I'm sure because he's controllable, the price was probably very high.

I agree and I still wont understand it.

I dont know that they are much better then Friday, but I also think this is a pretty good team as is. The glaring hole for me was a starting pitcher and some sort of catcher with a pulse. I think they upgraded both positions. I will be annoyed if Quero is the one going down because I think he's shown some signs of life at the plate where as Romo does absolutely nothing well in my eyes.

I actually think he's done quite well. Only one I'm confused by is Doyle.

This one would hurt me as well. I like guys that just get people out regardless of stuff.

Pitching staff has only allowed 7 non manfred ball runs in the last 46 innings pitched if my math is correct.
