  1. The only thing he brings to the table is athleticism. None of which translates to being a good baseball player.
  2. Well Moncada and Anderson will be back. You cant replace all of them but its hard to have Andrus, Sosa, Burger/Sheets, and Colas all in the lineup at the same time. Having one or two is something you can live with but not all of them.
  3. One quick fix is not having 4 AAAA guys in your starting line up everyday.
  4. I have no idea why they didn't bunt. There was no way Zavala, Sosa, or Andrus were going to put together a good a bat there. Especially knowing they were running the top of their order out in the bottom of the 10th.
  5. I guess I always assumed with the launch angle incorporated into the equation that it would account for the apex of the balls trajectory. Am I way off?
  6. I dont get this sometimes. Unless the wind is blowing in, how does a ball going 404 not get out when it was caught short of a 400 ft fence?
  7. Its the main problem. They've gotten no length from any of them, forcing guys in early to cover long stretches who should be relegated to mop up duty. Now they are getting exposed to long outings instead.
  8. Haven't hit a ball over 89 mph this inning.
  9. Vinnie Dubber commented that last year he played injured for most of the year as well because he felt that with everyone else being out for extended periods of time he had to play. People like to crap on his facial features but the guy plays and plays a lot even if its to his detriment.
  10. So Vera would've gone 5 and given up 2 in Houston last week? He got hammered at times in High A yet he's ready to contribute at the major league level. The logic around here is lacking.
  11. Vera threw 35 innings last year after 2 years off. Yes he could be much worse.
  12. Those were actually change ups I believe. He still his 97 a couple of times that inning.
  13. Leury career war of 3.9 in 10 years. Yoan at 13.5 in 8 years. Not even close to being the same player. Everything tells you that including your eyes. And as a bench player Leury was fine for a couple of years. It wasn't his fault that Tony played him at every opportunity for 2 years.
  14. Yes, the guy hasn't been a superstar but outside of his first year in Boston, the guy has still had positive WAR, even last year. Total disaster.
  15. Somehow he's arguably been their best player for the first 3 games of the season. My god the overreactions through 3 games are spectacular.
  16. You do realize how his season at AAA started last year correct?
  17. It's the chicken and the egg. Everyone always says the depth is terrible but how would you know if young guys never get the opportunity for extended playing time. Also, there's always this sense that every other major league team has 1-9 above average starters and their back ups are replacement level which just isn't the case at all. Romy may very well fall flat and be awful but I'd rather see it happen then just assume it's going to.
  18. Yes. Pedro talked about it a couple of weeks ago and said he would be batting 3rd. I think it was Merkin who wrote an article about it. Correction, it was Van Schouwen. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2023/3/4/23625194/white-sox-manager-pedro-grifol-likes-andrew-benintendi-in-the-3-hole
  19. I don't think it'll be in RF either. I'm just saying the outrage over Pedro mentioning him getting offseason reps there is just finding anything to be miserable about. The Sox understand that his value is at the plate.
  20. Eloy had two major injuries. The pec muscle was stupid and avoidable. The hamstring happened running to first base. That would've happened no matter where he was penciled in in that days lineup. He played OF in 114 of 122 games in '19 and then he played 54 of 55 games in '20 in LF. I don't think he should be a primary OF either, but people make it out like he'll get hurt adjusting his jock while standing out there. Having him 20-30 games in the OF is going to happen, will he make a dumb play or two, sure, but to act like having Eloy play out there is some guaranteed injury is just stupid. And the uproar over the idea that Pedro basically told him you're no longer the primary LF so we want you to be able to play some right field as well is just bitching to b****. What was he supposed to say, "You'll never see the outfield again so don't try to improve this offseason"? That would've have gone over better?
  21. I dont understand the absolute hand wringing over Eloy playing some games in the outfield. Its going to happen. People act like if he sets one foot onto the outfield grass the entire team is going to collapse. Also, god forbid Pedro asks a player to have a little positional versatility.
  22. One thing that Clevinger said about signing early is that he knew he left a bad taste in everyones mouth with his playoff start and explained that his MCL in his drive leg was pretty bad at the end of the year. He did say that he wasnt trying to throw a pity party for himself though while explaining the last couple of months of the season.
