Slow pitch softball thread

It always made me sick that leagues allowed teams to get away with loading up for the playoffs. It's disgusting to play the season within the rules only to face an A-league team when the cash is on the line. I guess I can't blame the cheaters - if people like that can get away with something, they usually will try to. If I ran a league I'd have a drivers license check before every game. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Let's say your employer comes to you and says: 1. We're going to double your pay 2. We'd like you to change locations 3. You can work anywhere in the USA or Canada, except those poopy French parts Where do you go? I'd imagine some folks will stay put and others will hightail it outta there. I think I'd go to Boulder, CO See you there, neighbor! If not Boulder, I'd live somewhere in the Phoenix area.

Vince couldn't even do a "Rise and Fall" documentary on them because they've had no "rise". Dixie blew their only chance at credibility when she turned down Heyman's offer to come in and run the show. She did not want to give him final say and hiring/firing power. Dumb, dumb move. I'm not saying Paul is a miracle worker, but with Panda money he could have steered them in the right direction. -

More problems for TNA - when it rains, it pours: [courtesy Lords of Pain] - The TNA live event in Cape Girardeau, Missouri started last night with a TNA agent coming out and announcing that Chris Sabin, Garett Bischoff, Jay Bradley, Wes Brisco, Gail Kim and Miss Tessmacher would not be allowed to compete by the Missouri Athletic Commission because they did not have licenses to wrestle. Around 500 fans were in attendance for the 90 minute show. The card featured just 5 matches and 3 of those 5 featured the same four wrestlers. Quick results look like this: * Bully Ray beat James Storm * Devon beat Gunner * Samoa Joe beat Roby Roode * Gunner and James Storm beat Ray and Devon * Jeff Hardy beat Kurt Angle TNA officials tried to make up for the problems by inviting all fans backstage after the show to meet wrestlers for free. However, Jeff Hardy charged $20 for a photo and fans could not get his autograph. This led to some of the people that paid $65 for VIP tickets to be upset that fans were getting what they paid for for free. -

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the person who handed the Cup to Belushi or the person who let Bieber into the locker room. I couldn't be less interested in these asinine "traditions". By now I've seen what seems like 500 people with no connection to the hockey team lifting the Cup anyway. You don't want someone walking on the Indian head? Don't put it on the f***ing floor. Simple as that.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 10:18 AM) A leaguers play a different game. They are just on a different level, from the pitcher to the last guy in the lineup, they all play differently than normal rec league guys. Absolutely. I played on a lot of really good B league teams, and we'd be feeling good about ourselves. Then we'd get in a tournament and end up playing an A league team and we'd be reminded of the difference between the two levels. We wouldn't get killed, because we were very good ourselves, but I think we only won one tournament (or maybe two) by beating an A league team. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) Those types of guys are in the 10 HR an inning limit leagues for 12 inch, and its NOT fun. They usually have a guy that can pitch too which sucks even more. After this season I am retiring in 12 in and moving my game permanently to 16in. Yeah, this was a 12" tournament, and they had a 5-bomb limit. These guys hit their 5 bombs in the first inning and then had to struggle to keep the ball in the park. I was playing 3B (lucky me!) and one guy hit a ball that I heard go whistling by but never saw. One foot to the right and I'd have been on my way to the ER. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 28, 2013 -> 09:40 AM) LOL, i bet he is unstoppable. I remember back in the 90s I read a story about Cory Snyder joining a 12 inch team when he retired, and hit something like 78 homeruns in a 15-20 game schedule. There is a tournament team in our park called the Shockers, and they have an "A" team that shows up for playoffs, and it is full of ex college players. It just isnt fair playing against those guys. My team went 9-1 in the season and lost to their "B" team by 10 runs in the season, and we played their "A" team in the playoffs and lost 40-2, called in the 2nd inning. And after they got 20 runs they stopped taking extra bases. shellACKED Forgive me if I've told this story here before, but it fits the topic: I played in a work tournament in St. Louis for a few years in the 80's and one of the teams was stocked with these giant no-neck monsters like you see on those softball shows on CSN. These guys were all 6'3" and 240 but were fast as hell. Just genetic freaks. Anyway, we had a pretty good team (top 3 in this tournament every year) but these guys beat the hell out of us every time. One time, they batted around twice before we recorded one out. They replaced their entire team in the 2nd inning and we still lost 30-3. Our own girlfriends and wives were laughing at us and we couldn't blame them. -
I saw the movie "Disconnect" starring Jason Bateman last night. I'd give it 6 out of 10. The storylines were fairly interesting, with the basic premise being that the Internet is a dangerous place where terrible things can happen to you. The acting was good, but they left two of the three stories unanswered at the end. That's a pet peeve of mine. Wrap your stories up, it's the least you can do. I'd recommend it on Netflix, but I wouldn't really suggest paying theater prices for it.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 10, 2013 -> 06:22 PM) Abyss returned last night hope the Joseph Park nonsense is over. At a house show last night he worked the opener as Joseph and the main event as Abyss. The Joseph Park thing had a couple halfway-decent moments, but not nearly enough. The guy is meant to be Abyss. -

Pretty sure AV is about gone, and it looks like once again there are goalies for sale in Vancouver. I want Vigneault in Vancouver for life, because that means they'll never win s***. -

Brian Christopher Lawler, aka Grandmaster Sexay, was stopped by police for ignoring a stop sign. He then failed a field test and reportedly admitted to police that he had consumed half a liter of vodka, as well as taken Xanax and methadone. That's not Too Cool, there, Brian. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 26, 2013 -> 06:09 AM) I wouldn't be shocked if it is Jericho's idea to put over Fandango at Mania. He is at that point in his career, and he admits it. He wanted to put Punk over last year. I fell asleep before the Rock/Cena thing last night. I won't watch it. I bet Cena was adamate about winning this time, Rock says he will win again, blah blah blah, Rock Bottom or AA, off the air. I read that the original plan was for Jericho to turn heel and feud with Ryback, but "creative" put Henry with Ryback instead. This Fandango thing feels very thrown-together, and I don't like the character at all. He bores me to death. -

Whether they meant things to play out this way or not, Bully is the best person they could have ended up with as A&8's president. I am SO GLAD it wasn't Jarrett, Bischoff or Hogan.....although with TNA's booking history, it still could end up that way. It was unfortunate that they underused or didn't use so many guys on the first show of their latest attempt to take Impact on the road, but they did need to push the storyline along and it ate up a lot of segments. It was a pretty watchable Impact. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Mar 10, 2013 -> 11:55 PM) Bully Ray turned heel and beat Hardy with help of Ace's and 8's.................never saw that coming.............NOT! Yeah, predictable as hell, but Bully is exactly what Aces & Eights needs. GREAT heel, excellent on the mic, and believable as a leader of a "badass" heel faction. -

The white jersey they wore during "the Barber Pole Era" was, to me, so much better than the striped one. http://www.nhluniforms.com/1951-52/Blackhawks.html
