Very sad to hear this, but he had a very fulfilling life. And of course, he starred in one of my Top Three movies ever, Slap Shot. RIP Paul.

It may hurt not having A Nick Masset, but I'm not convinced that the problem is not having The Nick Masset.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) I prefer Leno's "mahmoud I'm-a-nut-job" I call him Mahmoud I'm-a-dinner-tray. Oh, and I thought Obama won. McCain seemed a little scrambled to me.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Things are getting very ugly between Ozzie and OC. I really, really hope this s*** doesn't prevent us from offering him arbitration. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-ssep26.article Cabrera's gone. They're not even going to offer to call him a taxi after the final game.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) Right. Because there are only 4 games left. There could be a fifth if they end up tied. -

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) How does Quentin and Crede's absence explain this: Swisher: .167/.233/.548 Thome: .214/.321/.736 Dye: .224/.290/.584 AJ: .197.243/.470 They make everyone around them better? -
Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - 9/26
The Critic replied to nitetrain8601's topic in 2008 Season in Review
QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) i think a new rule should be if you say the season is over when its not you should be suspended....all we have to do is win at home I say the rule should be if you say "all we have to do is win at home" you should be suspended until the Sox actually win 3, 4 or 5 home games in a row. -
The Sox almost had a faster collapse than WaMu.

Go KC! Bail out the Sox for not showing up at all!! Do their dirty work for them!!! ...a KC game thread....how sickening that THIS has become necessary.

QUOTE (Good Guys @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) That sounds terrible. I could tell just by watching on TV that those fans seemed beyond obnoxious. I live in Chicago so obviously I go to almost all of my Sox games at The Cell. I have never seen anything beyond friendly heckling. Also I went to a game in Cleveland about a month ago. Actually it was the game Quentin hurt himself. My overall impression was that I could not believe how friendly the fans were there. Granted it may have had something to do with the fact that the Indians were already out of the race, but I found the people of Cleveland to be beyond friendly. After the game we went out to a bar near Progressive Stadium and we had a group of people buy us a round of beers, and just wanting to talk baseball. It was an overall great experience. Sorry to hear about your experience. Keep the faith. Maybe, just maybe we will get a shot at revenge. I went to Jacobs Field a couple years ago and I had a great time. Granted, it wasn't for a Sox/Indians game (the Mariners were in town), but I didn't even catch any grief when I wore my Reds BP jersey. The people were very friendly indeed. Too bad Cleveland is so utterly boring, or I'd go there again. Beautiful ballpark and an amazing fireworks display after the game.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 09:52 AM) Gas is really the way to go. Gas is definitely more convenient and easier to manage heat-wise, but I much prefer the flavor of food grilled over charcoal.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) yes...now go watch it because its not quite as good as Caddyshack, Happy Gilmore, Spinal Tap, Slap Shot or either of the first two Major Leagues B) -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 07:58 AM) They need to have a bunch of bells, whistles, and lights to make themselves the center of attention, too. And a mask attached to a lever that immediately shoots off the face whenever it detects a human voice.

WHITE SOX HOLD TENT SALE ON FINAL WEEKEND OF THE SEASON
The Critic replied to SoxComms's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 01:48 PM) They'll be selling divisional championship TSHIRTS...WHITE SOX DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP TSHIRTS!!! I hope they have some 1983 Western Division Champs shirts left.....wait....do you mean to imply they'll have title shirts for THIS YEAR???? -
Vazquez has to pitch one of the Indians games, doesn't he? Has he won one meaningful game for the White Sox yet?
-
I say they compromise and use fat, arrogant, unapproachable video replay machines.
-
Well, in fairness to the umpire, he DID have to turn around AND look at a painted line on the ground. That is EXTREMELY difficult to do.
-
DAG GUMMIT!!! 6-3. You know he's going to slip up and say God Damnit one of these days, right?
-
I know he's really fast, but Gomez didn't look that fast on that isolation replay.
-
6-2. :uhoh
-
....and ball 4 deflates the Hawk all over again. He's going to have an aneurysm, you know that, right?

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Yea you are, but many of us Chicago fans are just cynical by nature. We're knee-jerk and cantankerous, but no one beats Chi-town fans for passion. Now would be the time for me to admit that I'm nervous that it's only the 4th inning.
