  1. QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) Awful close. Probably off, but not an easy call after three replays at different angles.
  2. QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) How'd he stay on the base? Hawk is PISSED I'll wait until I see the replay, but it's really difficult to stay on the base when you're stretching/diving for a throw like that. If he kept the toe on the bag, hats off to him - helluva play.
  3. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 03:24 PM) does any one still hate the fact that Masset made the team? One decent outing doesn't make him good any more than one bad outing makes Buerhle bad. I understand why the Sox brought Masset north, but he didn't beat Wasserman for the spot.
  4. I think it's fine. Freedom of expression and all that.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 06:44 AM) Fireworks from Wrestlemania fall into the crowd, injure 40 people Vince making sure the Orlando crowd was HOT at WrestleMania. ....too soon?....
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) Critic broke his TV after Mayweather knocked out Show. I thought the match was fine. Floyd did what he could. Ending was believable in the way that Mayweather used knucks on Show, which looked like a legit shot. It wasn't as bad as it could of been. Once I read that Show is like 1-6 before tonight at WM, I figured Vince asked him to put Wasted Moneyweather over. I guess it can't hurt Show other than giving future opponents an easy dig on him. I think it's stupid, but I can't say I'm at all surprised.

QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 01:28 PM) That is why the public is really starting to lean towards indie films for the entertainment. The box office begs to differ - 2007's top 20 grossing films: 1 Spider-Man 3 Sony $336,530,303 2 Shrek the Third P/DW $322,719,944 3 Transformers P/DW $319,246,193 4 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End BV $309,420,425 5 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix WB $292,004,738 6 I Am Legend WB $256,279,068 7 The Bourne Ultimatum Uni. $227,471,070 8 National Treasure: Book of Secrets BV $217,684,901 9 Alvin and the Chipmunks Fox $216,050,880 10 300 WB $210,614,939 11 Ratatouille BV $206,445,654 12 The Simpsons Movie Fox $183,135,014 13 Wild Hogs BV $168,273,550 14 Knocked Up Uni. $148,768,917 15 Juno FoxS $141,491,126 16 Rush Hour 3 NL $140,125,968 17 Live Free or Die Hard Fox $134,529,403 18 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Fox $131,921,738 19 American Gangster Uni. $130,164,645 20 Enchanted BV $127,807,262 I think people like an indie-feeling film once in a while as a change of pace, but the numbers show that by and large, most people still like dumb comedies, kids' movies, and s*** blowing up.

I enjoyed 21 much more than I expected to. While the ending was formulaic and predictable, I thought it was done well and was still fun to watch. I thought the acting was good and the movie had a good pace.
  9. I love Eight Men Out. Despite the subject matter, the movie is really great.
  10. I like that the writer called Barkley on his own bit of race-baiting on the title of his book, but Chuck's got those ESPN clowns pegged perfectly.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) I know you're a fan of old-school wrestling, being an old man and all. I consider myself a fan of the older stuff as well, but my "old-school" is the late 80's and early 90's. I have to admit, as much as I hate most current wrestling, that almost all of the main eventers now are solid technical wrestlers. The same can't be said of the Ultimate Warriors and Hogans of my era. Also, I'd rather Flair just completely retire from wrestling. I think that'd be a better ending for his career than managing. EDIT: Where the hell is LCR?! He usually shares my point of view on most things wrestling. OLD MAN??? HOW DARE YOU!!! It's true that "my time" was the late 70's and early 80's, but probably my favorite era of wrestling was the Monday Night Wars into the ECW and "Attitude" era. There was just so many fun angles, a lot of guys getting to show their personality and humorous side, and just a lot of variety and competition between three very different companies with very different approaches. Back in the old AWA/NWA/WWWF days, almost all of the main eventers were really solid technical guys. Verne Gagne, Nick Bockwinkel, Billy Robinson, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, Dory and Terry Funk, Jack and Jerry Brisco, Harley Race, Pat O'Connor and many many more. In those days nobody scoured Muscle Beach for performers, they almost always came from the amateur wrestling ranks. The downside of that is many of them didn't have the mic skills or flashiness most guys had and have since. Thus the need for aging wrestlers who could talk well to become managers. I think Flair's career would be enhanced by becoming a heel manager, and it would help guys who can't work well on the mic. Flair talking so Batista and Orton don't have to??? Count me in!! I know Ric doesn't have to do anything after Sunday and his legacy is solid, but if he wants to stick around it would be great for the business to keep him in a prominent role. I haven't seen LCR around here for quite some time. That surprises me, especially in an election year. He must be too busy with his personal or school schedules.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) Nothing impresses you, Critic. And I agree, Show's one of my favorites. I'm impressed by a fair amount of stuff, but it's a lot less interesting to throw out the  than it is to complain and/or mock things. There's not too much in rasslin' lately that blows me away these days, though. Definitely in a "down cycle" IMO.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) In a perfect world, Orton would walk out of the Citrus Bowl as champion. Neither HHH or Cena needs the the title to be over. I know a lot of people don't like Orton, Shadows and I are supporters, but it would make WrestleMania if he was to retain. Nobody would be expecting it and it seems like Orton needs the title for the WWE to do anything with him. I've also always been a fan of heel champions. Title changes at Mania should mean something. It isn't the first reign for either HHH or Cena. The only thing that would make it special is if Orton retained. I have NEVER been an HHH fan. I never thought he was anymore than average in the ring and he isn't particularly entertaining on the mic, especially as a face. "Oh, how funny. He made an inside joke that only internet marks would get it. He so funny." He has had decent matches with guys who are very good. He has never had to carry anyone to a good match. I am intrigued as to how Show/Mayweather will go. The build up for HBK/Flair has been good, especially this past week. If Flair loses, I still hope for a heel manager role with Orton. I do agree that Orton benefits from holding the belt way more than H or SuperC do. H can be funny, but he tries WAY too hard. Agree about the smark remarks. Show/Waste of Money Mayweather will be interesting to me only to the point of seeing if they ask Show to job to an elf. I cannot agree strongly enough about Flair - his mic skills and ability to get involved physically when necessary would make him a Heenanesque heel manager. He's not afraid to look weak when the situation calls for it, either, which is an absolute must for a heel manager. He'd be great.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 06:26 PM) Can't remember who makes them, but they are awesome. Does anyone have one for April? Wasn't that Showtime? Well, Show, whatcha got for us??
  15. New Heyman column from the UK Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...ticle974227.ece I disagree with him on one major point (and I know you can see it coming) - I think Mayweather, at least in the wrestling realm, is boring as all hell. He can't ad-lib worth half a damn, he's not convincing in anything he says, and he sounds meek even when boasting. I haven't heard him do any "promos" in the boxing world, but he hasn't impressed me in any way, shape or form during the Mania buildup. I agree with Heyman 100% about Show - he seems by all accounts to be a nice guy, and I'm almost always interested in angles he's involved in (the "Big Bossman dragging Show's dead Dad's casket arounf" angle notwithstanding, that was awful).
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) I don't know whether that would be peeing into a laundry basket, or getting thrown out of a bar in Key West... Lots of people get thrown out of bars, but pissing in a laundry basket is special! Not a stupid thing, necessarily, but I did vomit in every room of the house, upstairs and down, after one nasty encounter with Jack and Jim.
  17. Not too stupid, but stupid enough: A few buddies and I are drinking in the park after a softball game. I'm a few beers in (I'm not ashamed to admit that I am not much of a drinker - I'm actually glad, since I am also incredibly cheap, so getting drunk sooner is okay by me), and we see a rabbit near the fence. I decide that I am a very fast runner and I can catch that goddamned rabbit. So I take off, bottle still in hand, after the rabbit. Of course, as I got somewhat near, the rabbit makes a sharp left turn. I try to also make a sharp left turn, but end up making a thud and several rolls through the gravel near the fence. I get up and announce "I didn't spill a f***ing DROP!!!" when the guys point out to me that my entire right arm is coated in blood. No severe cuts, but that gravel gave me about 200 tiny cuts, all of which bled like a b****. Lesson learned - I MAY have been as fast as a rabbit, but they make better turns.
  18. 4-0 now. Time to look to free agents and the draft. This was a very fun year, though, so I can't complain too much.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) It's kind of funny to look back at an iconic match like Hogan vs. Andre, and see that the match was only 8 minutes long. Yeah, Andre's health was so far gone at that point that he couldn't really go much longer than that.
  20. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) The Flair/HBK promo last night....insane. RAW needed a show like this because the WM buildup has been kind of weak, IMO. I have really enjoyed the buildup to their match. I like the way they tease both guys as the heel, then go back to the mutual respect, and then have one of them throw another verbal (or physical) jab. I think they will provide the highlight of WrestleMania, without a doubt. I still want Flair to win, give an "I can't think of a better way to go out" promo, and retire in the ring after the match. A "run-in" of the boys in the back to join him in the ring for a show of respect would be nice, too.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) Ha, thats awesome, you should post the plot and script [scene] [doorbell rings] MAN: Did someone order a pizza? WOMAN: I did. MAN: Well, here's your pizza....with extra sausage! [zipper sound] [/scene] Seems easy enough!
  22. I wonder if Savvy's considered putting Kane on the point on the power play? He seems to get smushed along the boards a lot, and his passing skills could be an advantage on the point. It's something I think they need to give some thought to, especially if he doesn't bulk up over the summer.
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 23, 2008 -> 09:47 AM) Konnan is suing TNA for racism and discrimination He's just bitter that they didn't pay for all his medical bills despite the fact that he didn't get himself sufficient health insurance. His career outlived his talent by many, many, many years. His schtick became stale almost immediately. It sure seemed like TNA was holding him back when they created LAX as a vehicle for him to blabber on and on, gave him airtime every single week with them, and gave them multiple tag title runs.
