This is the first time in the history of this fine institution that a freshman has given this address. Mr. Thornton Melon. Thank you very much. Thank you, Dean Martin, President Sinclair, and members of the graduating class. I have only one thing to say to you today... it's a jungle out there. You gotta look out for number one. But don't step in number two. And so, to all you graduates... as you go out into the world, my advice to you is... DON'T GO!!! IT'S ROUGH OUT THERE!! Move back with your parents - let THEM worry about it!!!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Hawks lose in the SO today. If they would have picked up that 2nd point, they would have been 5 points out with 7 games left. O well..... Yeah, it's disappointing not to get the second point, but it doesn't really bum me out that much anymore. I've come to terms with the fact that they'll fall short of the playoffs this year. I'm more interested to see what Tallon can do in the offseason to address weaknesses. BTW, I thought Hendry played really well today. He's improved quite a bit since he first got to Chicago. It's nice to see. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 04:58 AM) I've started getting into Ok Go lately. They're more than the treadmills. They're a very good power pop band. A lot of catchy songs, I like them a lot.

It hasn't been as bad as advertised out here (SW burbs) yet. I am so sick of snow and cold already. Can't we be done with this s*** yet?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 21, 2008 -> 03:16 AM) Crawford's likely to be the backup next season I think. The Hawks need to have him play 20-25 games to see if he can take over from 09-10. So ATM I'd say Lalime won't be back, unless the Hawks could trade Bulin for a good package (which is possible, a starting goalie with an expiring contract and the salary cap rising would have some good value I think). The quandry is, though, that to make Khabi more attractive in trade, I think the Hawks would have to play him now to show that the injuries are behind him. He's had a weird year health-wise and I think that could make other teams a little skittish if he sits out the rest of the games this year. You can't play Crawford to see what you have in him without slightly damaging your chances to deal Khabibulin, unless other teams are more focused on Khabi's track record over the years and getting him checked out before working a deal. -

a "O" on Tony O Night is a very fitting tribute, indeed! I thought the Tony tribute went a lot more smoothly than the Bobby & Stan show - I'm sure it has to do mostly with the fact that there was only one honoree, but it felt a lot less rushed and more focused. Bringing in Phil without Tony knowing was a nice touch, and Tony was a good sport to throw the mask on one more time. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) Loved when he hit Lawler, ran away, came back, stole the Subway sandwich, than ran away. Santino is must see TV on Raw...except for his matches. "Snoopy the Dog"! Bolded for truth. Too bad he's not more entertaining when he wrestles, because he has become guaranteed laughs on the stick. -

Hawks lose 4-2. Kiprusoff was crazy good in the last few minutes of the game when the Hawks were swarming. Even the most optimistic Hawks fans have to feel like the playoffs have slipped away. The Hawks will have to win out and get a lot of help. Not going to happen. -

Jeff Hardy's house burned to the ground. He lost basically everything he owns and his dog was killed in the fire as well. Absolutely horrible news. -

Wrong call. Once Rouse kicks the ball it can't be interference, except on Rouse's part. -

That's odd, I thought Adamle was getting paid 20 million dollars!! Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter -- Raw announcer Mike Adamle was going to start working with J2 Strategic Communications -- a media training company in Chicago -- but one day after his WWE hiring was announced, he pulled out, citing other commitments including his WWE commitments. WWE is reportedly paying Mike Adamle $300,000 per year for his weekly work on Raw (talent receive additional money for working pay-per-views). That translates to about $6,000 per show. $300,000 is close to what a high-end mid-carder makes on their downside guarantee. $300,000 is also equivalent to three or four entry level WWE contracts, or giving developmental contracts to 12 wrestlers from the indy scene. Another colossal waste of money for someone who adds absolutely nothing to any broadcast. Amazing. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) I don't understand how everyone can make excuses not to buy American cars, but then villify Wal-Mart. The irony is too rich. Since every car I've ever purchased is an American brand, is it OK that I don't like Wal-Mart? I like my indignation to be righteous. I think my brother is the only member of my family to have purchased a foreign brand. We disowned him.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 11:05 PM) The Soriano move to the 2nd spot is likely a sign of a Roberts acquisition. It's also the dumbest place you could put him. He should be a middle-of-the-order guy, not a #2 hitter. I don't know if they have a true #2 hitter on their team, though. Maybe Fukudome could be that guy, but I haven't seen enough of him to say.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) So I guess tonight means we're probably pretty much done to make the playoffs. And I don't think that's still the worst thing if we end up with a top 10 pick, and can get another really good prospect to add to the system. And just a question, would people rather we target a #1 D-Man in Brian Campbell or a #1 winger in Marion Hossa this off-season (if you could only have 1)? I'd choose Campbell. The Hawks need some O from the D, as well as depth on the backline, so I want them to get a quality defenseman. -

Jerry Crasnick from espn.com on Ozzie and Kenny
The Critic replied to Mplssoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) Well at least Ozzie was right about KW not winning GM of the year back in 2005 instead of Shapiro (not that I'm saying Shapiro is a bad GM, he's obviously a very good one). Yeah, it's one thing if KW tweaks an already good team and wins the Series. He made some pretty major changes, as well as seemingly minor changes that turned out to be major (Hermanson comes to mind). Kenny was absolutely the Executive of the Year in 2005. And he was robbed of it. -

Mid-card 4 Life! Credit: ProWrestling.NET - You would be forgiven for thinking Vince McMahon may be upset about Jeff Hardy's inability (once again) to follow the company's drug policy, but that apparently is not the case. One source has claimed that McMahon has been waiting for an incident like this to happen and that suspension of one of the company's biggest stars puts WWE in a strong position if Congress or anyone else questions the company's drug testing policy. Hardy is now destined to mid-card status for life, another source claims, with Vince McMahon not even willing to contemplate future creative plans for the former Intercontinental Champion at this time. The same source also claims that Hardy has cost himself a Spring run with the WWE Title. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) I know it is only two starts, but at this point, you almost have to give Crawford a spot on this team next year. He has looked really good versus two of the best teams in the NHL. He's definitely outplayed my expectations in those two games. I want to see him play out the season so Tallon & Co. can get an idea of how confident they are in him, and act accordingly on the other two goalies. -
