  1. Publicly doubted the legitimacy of Frank Thomas' injury, suggesting Frank was tanking it. f***in' douchebag.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) A rumor coming from Jimbo's suggests that next year's radio tandem will be for 2006 only. Dave Wills has an iron clad 2 year deal in Tampa, 2006 is the 2nd year. According to this rumor, Wills comes back for 2007, Farmer goes back to his normal analyst role, and whoever the color guy is next year will either get shuffled or draw the short straw. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) I called the St Louis ticketmaster phone number and easily got through and got tickets. Cool, maybe I'll call the Chicago number and see what's available for the NLCS at Busch Stadium....
  4. I can't say I'm surprised. TicketBastard suckage + nice full bandwagon = trouble. It'll only get worse if (when) the Sox make it to......you know.....( still can't type it, lol )
  5. Hmmm.....I wouldn't expect such SMART people to have such trouble with the concept of replying to quotes. - the above reply - the reply above that one
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Don't count Rooney out. The fat lady is on standby... but she hasn't started warming up. Best news ( sort of.... ) I've heard all day.
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Get this, my buddy just told me that on CLTV they did a 5 minute piece on the Sox. They had a camera crew at the park with everyone in line and even did a few interviews. After the segment ends, they cut back to the anchor who says: 'Sox fans should know that tickets will only be sold via internet and over the phone". If the Sox aren't telling those people in line that tickets are not available at the windows, the Sox are stupid. If the Sox ARE telling them that, then those people in line are stupid. I really hope a riot doesn't break out at 12:01 when they get the bad news, especially with CLTV right there to cover it - "......well, Chet, there go those violent Sox fans again....."
  8. Stone, McDowell or Torborg would all be absolutely fine with me. Wills would not, but I'd still listen on occasion. North would prevent my radio from ever tuning to a Sox game.
  9. "YOUR 2005 World Champions" would be the most effective marketing slogan the Sox have ever used.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 06:43 AM) And the most unusual thing of all.... they called a winner ZING!!!! buh-dum-bum!!! It's funny cuz it's TRUE!!!
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Maybe he was just experimenting during the regular season. I ripped him for managerial decisions alot during the season. It's nice to see he's making me eat crow and showing that he's not only a master motivator, but a competent manager. 9 more wins and he'll be a f***ing genius! And I don't know about you ( well, I know about at least ONE of you ), but IF the Sox win the.....you know....( I can't bring myself to type that yet ), and Oz really did leave afterwards, I sure as hell wouldn't be happy to see him go. I'd want AT LEAST one more season to thank him over and over and over. s***, he could turn Marte into a starter and I'd STILL give him a standing ovation!!!

    QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Well I guess if you thought about it for a while you could easily come up with something better. I like to call them DopeDope.
  13. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) I missed it.. Lots of unusual stuff going on. Guido told us what he was drinking. The guys used foul language. They played the same 7 songs during breaks that they always play. Maury "called" Iguchi's homer. The guys used more foul language. Yep, LOTS of unusual stuff going on.......
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 06:27 AM) If I have to put up with Berman to see the Sox in the postseason, so be it. I suppose, but it would also be nice to have the option of listening to the announcers you'd listened to during the 162-game season. Or even to have Gary Thorne ( one of ESPN's only listenable play-by-play guys, along with Dan Schulman [sp?] ) do the Sox/BoCubs series rather than a guy like Berman, who is terrible. I understand why they have exclusivity, and YES it beats not having the Sox there, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
  15. I'm glad they are - FOR NOW - calling the game as the rules dictate. The old way basically forgave lesser players by allowing them to grab and hang onto guys they could NEVER cover within the rules. Now, whether or not the refs continue to call the game by the rules as they're written....well, let's just say I've seen the "tighter calling of games" fall by the wayside in midseason before. We'll wait and see. Oh, and nice debut for Khabibulin - givin' up two shorties......ugh.
  16. My favorite thing that idiot said was after Game One. He said "tomorrow's game is a must-win for Chicago. If they go into Boston tied at a game apiece, this series might not come back to Chicago". Eck-squeeze me?? Baking powder?? WHICH team just lost 14-2? Acting like the Sox wouldn't be able to win one in Boston, give me a f***ing break. Best road record in MLB? Means nothing to Football Boy. I've never missed Hawk as much as I have the past two days.
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) You make it sound like it's a bad thing. . . lol... I only get bugged by the Cubsession when I see guys in Cubs Suck shirts when the Sox are playing the Twins or Injuns or someone like that. It just looks like they don't understand which games are important.
  18. On Sunday nights, Q101 is best. Otherwise, none of the above. Chicago radio blows ass, and almost always has.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 08:13 AM) I hate you both I hated you LONG before today.....
  20. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) cubs don't dislike us as much as we dislike them. Another sign of their weakness ...or of our pettiness.
  21. "29 is not 30, Eddie. You'll get only the money you're owed...."
  22. Out. I actually get to leave work at 1:30 today ( started at 5, UGH ) so I'll be home for the first pitch! You can put me on the traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnn.....YES!
  23. Dips*** Woody Paige was trying to turn the Black Sox scandal into a curse ( and therefore the reason the Sox won't win ) on ESPN yesterday. That curse bulls*** is for the Cubs, and for their American League counterpart the Red Cubs. You don't see Sox fans making black socks into spaghetti, or blowing them up, or feeding them to a goat, or whatever. The whole curse thing is a joke. Wear what you like - IMO if it says Sox on it ( and doesn't say RED in front of it or SUCK behind it ) then it's supporting the team. Oh, and to try to answer your question - I think people as a rule tend to blame Comiskey's miserly ways for the Black Sox thing more than they blame the players themselves. Also, almost none of us know anyone who was alive when it actually happened, so we're a little detached from the situation. If this year's team got to the Series and threw it, THEN you'd see some backlash!!!
  24. Just PLEASE don't give me a lump of coal.......again........
  25. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 06:21 AM) I think so also.. would I pay $700 a seat on that thought...? Uh.. no. Would I sell my tickets for a game that may or may not be played? I certainly would. Not faulting you if you hang onto them, just saying what I would do.
