QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Love it, my sentiments exactly. Holy s***, we agree completely. In other news, hell has frozen over, and Lori Loughlin is at my front door in cutoff jeans shorts and a tank top, asking for a massage. Lori Loughlin = quality. Oh, and I do want to pass my sympathies on to those Twins fans at fat-girl.com. I know how bad they felt for us last year when Frank and Maggs went down, so I just thought I should return similar emotions to them.

Cotts looks a lot like Scott Lucas of Local H.

While I think that a lifetime ban for a first offense is too harsh, I believe what Rose did is more damaging to the "integrity of the game" than what Palmeiro did. Rose, as a manager, was in a position to potentially harm the careers of his players ( by overuse or improper use of players ) for his own personal gain. I think that's worse than something an individual does to himself.

QUOTE(Balance @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) I've never heard Bob Mould live, and I'm thinking about getting a ticket. I love "Workbook," although my favorite Mould is Sugar: Copper Blue. Copper Blue is an excellent disc! Definitely the most consistent Sugar disc, although they all had some terrific songs. I've seen Bob a few times, and he is great in concert. I'd highly recommend that you get a ticket - I think you'll really enjoy it!

THESE are the Posts Of The Month???? ....good thing it's early....

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Mark Buehrle could care less about that streak and the fact that he did this before the 6th inning endears him to his teammates even more IMO. This kind of stuff brings a team closer together. This seems to be true. Remember how much credit was given to Toriiiii Hunter for "demoralizing" the Sox on the infamous Burke Play.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) The only way we would have seen suspensions if Baltimore cared enough to clear the benches and throw punches. And they're too busy trying to bail the water out of the sinking ship their season has become.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) what can i say.... i love the feeling of loose rosebud. LMAO!

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Maybe.... but i do some crazy s*** sometimes... so it's hard to tell. That's some blatant disregard for his own bowels right there......MURRRRCIE.....

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Oh that Timo. He sure is the joker. Everyone loves him. As long as he says "AYYY'M YOOST KEEEEEEEDEENG!!!!" he'll be OK.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) So was it intentional or not? I believe it was, but only Mark knows for sure. Oh, and Ozzie probably knows for sure too.

Viz gets him to fish! Nice K, and way to back Mark up! And FWIW, I also think it was a good team thing to do. You can't let guys get plunked without any retaliation. It's not a part of the game I necessarily agree with, but it IS a part of the game.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) The scrapbook that my grandma and me did in 1983 when I was 9 years old. Back when you only had 450 posts..... -
QUOTE(Stocking @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) I've asked this question to many, Is it possible that Sosa could play himself out of a FIRST ballot hall of fame induction? With the roids and cork, if he plays another 3+ years with these terrible numbers i could see a possiblity of missing his first chance. I don't think so. The HR numbers are too glaring right now, and the steroid thing won't hurt him as much since he has no BALCO to link him to. Add the 98 "saving baseball" HR race to that, along with the 30-30 of his past, and I think he'll still be a first-ballot guy. Unfortunate, IMO, since I think he's a prick and a cheater.

Heard on Talking Baseball this morning that the Orioles are considering releasing our favorite cork-filled teddy bear soon. I don't think I could wipe the smile off my face if they kicked him out of his "noo howss".

Mine is the chair from Comiskey Park that my friend gave me as a Christmas gift. He used to work for the team, and he got about 20 chairs when the park was torn down. Awesome gift. -
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) This place has been a bore for the past couple weeks. Someone think of some good thread ideas that don't involve trades. Please. That is all. How about I start a boring thread b****ing about other people's threads being boring? Oh wait....that's been done.... Seriously, I can't believe you didn't expect trade threads in the 2 weeks leading up to the non-waiver trade deadline. Stay away during the winter if you don't like Trade Talk.

And to save money, he conferenced all three GMs in on one call to make the offer. "I'll give you _______ , ________ , and _________ for the guy we talked about earlier. Call me later with your answer. Bye!"

QUOTE(jamslam @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) Big Frank will retire after the season, No wheels and can't play in pain anymore I don't know about that. I think being as close to 500 HR as he is, he'll try to catch on somewhere if (when) he's bought out. The Sox will maybe try to reach a low-money contract with Frank, but I don't know if Frank's pride will let him do that. I guess what I'm saying is that if Frank retires, it won't be exactly HIS idea. As for throwing out the first pitch, I think it's a nice idea, but maybe that would make it look like Frank is an ex-player, and then we go back to the pride thing.

YES! Just got my ticket! Thursday, September 29th, I'll be at Metro ( my favorite concert venue ) to see Bob play with a full band for the first time in years, and playing Husker Du and Sugar songs in concert for the first time in years. The new CD "Body Of Song" finds Bob playing and writing songs in his "signature style" once again, and that's great news for me! I'm excited to see good ol' Bob - I can't wait!!!

I'll definitely check it out. I personally find it sickening that it's OK for a movie to blow the s*** out of a million buildings and shoot thousands of people, but say a few "naughty words" and suddenly all the "What About The Children???" people get all outraged. I'm sure The Aristocrats will end up at the Music Box or Landmark Century Cinema. That's OK with me, too, I like those theatres.

Who is the most underrated player of all time?
The Critic replied to White Sox Josh's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) I'd mention Ted Williams. 521 ( I think ) homers and lost 4 years in his prime as a combat pilot fighting for his country. How can a guy who many many people call The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived be underrated? Was he the Greaterest? The Most Greatest?
