  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Check out Michael Hedges version of "All Along The Watch Tower" off of his "Live On The Double Planet" album!!! HOOOOOO DOOOGGGGYYYY!!! I'm surprised that you didn't include that song on any of the 14,876 CDs you gave me at the preseason game..... And maybe I'll get shredded up for this, but the name Michael Hedges does not ring a bell.....does he duet with George Benson?
  2. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) Watchtower, Like A Rolling Stone, or Drifter's Escape? Watchtower. Great song. But the only one I like.
  3. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:32 AM) I will go along again then: That's the one!! Thanks!!!
  4. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) On that we are in complete agreement, especially Montgomery and Charlie Christian. Jimi absolutely loved Christian, btw. For me, Eddie Van Halen just got to monotonous after he exploded on the scene and took playing where he did. He even got tired of his own style by the time 1984 came out, and had to start doing keyboard stuff to even keep himself interested it seemed. And I also admit that my elevating Jimi to where I do has as much to do with his compositions, his lyricism, and his recording studio skills (Eddie Kramer had a lot to do with that too). That's also why I'll cut Page some slack, he was a brilliant producer, Even if everything he ever "wrote" he ripped off of old blues guys. But that's all part of what made him great. It was not just the guitar prowess (which I do think you are selling short). Point me to the Eddie Van Halen composition that can make you cry like Castles Made of Sand and maybe I'll come around. I don't want to cry when I'm listening to music. Musically speaking, REO Speedwagon made me want to cry.... Never got into Jimi Hendrix - the only song of his I kinda like is a Bob Dylan song.
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) if I saw Brett Favre on the streets, I would have no idea who he was. He looks like Geoff Jenkins of the Brewers, you can't miss him.... ....sorry, I just wanted to re-create the blank stare you gave me when I told you that in April at Miller Park....
  6. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Love your child. No infants are stupid. .....psssst.....the key is to notice the green.......

    bill hicks

I loved Bill Hicks' comedy, and it sucks that he's not around now. I was fortunate enough to see him perform 3 times, and my only complaint about him at all is that he tended to get a little repetitive. It would have been very interesting to see his take on the world today.
  9. In other news: The sun is still hot. The planet Pluto is very far away. and in entertainment news: Milli Vanilli did not sing on their Grammy-award winning album.
  10. C'mon, you guys, it's sitting there on a tee and no one swings??? "Jenks, How did he look today" ....fat.....
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) They are always my pick for most under rated band of all time. In between the TOP 40, sells a lot of record, hits and some good, well crafted, tunes. I also appreciate there lack of drama, angst, break ups to make ups, etc. Ridin' the Storm Out, played really, really, loud, with the windows down and some good buddies is almost spiritual. A personal fave I was dragged to an REO show by the wife ( well, at that time she was The Girfriend ) and I'm surprised she didn't break up with me that night. I was absolutely miserable. Kevin Cronin is the WORST frontman I've ever seen. Talking a LOT does NOT = having anything to say!!! the worst thing ever????? "DWEE DWEE DWEEEEE DIDDLEDEEDOO, DWEE DWEE DWEEEEE DIDDLEDEEDOO...." :headshake :puke
  12. QUOTE(Nokona @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) All members of Aerosmith should in fact be burned at the stake. A pink stake. ...with frilly, lacy scarves all around it.... Mid-70s Aerosmith = great Rehab 80s Aerosmith = not as good as the 70s, but oh well, let 'em get back the money they blew on coke 90s Aerosmith & beyond = not good at all ....in my humble opinion, of course.....always gotta throw that in there....
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Nope, I retired. My own free will. Oh goody, more free time for posting......
  14. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) Elvis (he did have a standard backing band in his early days, of which Scotty Moore was the guitarist) Aerosmith KISS Beach Boys If Guns N Roses had stuck it out and Axl had not gone insane, they would have dwarfed everybody BUT The Beatles and Led Zep. Only under the debut album line-up though. The second Izzy left, they were screwed. Izzy could've stayed and they were still screwed. Axl's ego and drugs/alcohol doomed that band. Steven Adler would be dead right now if he hadn't been kicked out. Appetite For Destruction is one of rock's all-time masterpieces, though.
  15. I like Dolgin better than I liked Wills, but I never liked Wills at all, so almost anyone would have been better IMO. I can take or leave Dolgin.
  16. Once he comes back, it'll be interesting to see how he reacts mentally. I heard someone on ESPN ( can't remember who ) talking about a pitcher who got hit with a line drive ( again, can't remember who.....it was 4:15 in the morning when I saw it, okaaaaaaaay???? ), but he said the guy would visibly flinch when he released a pitch after that. Clement will be shaky on hits up the middle, that's a given. Glad to see that Clement didn't get seriously hurt, and I hope he does make a full recovery, both physically and mentally.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Pffttt... whore. :rolly Whore or not, she is a really good-looking girl. And waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too young for me to be saying that about her.....
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Did I miss the date and details? Too lazy to read. Nothing official's been posted yet to the best of my knowledge, but it's looking like September 8th vs. Kansas City.
  19. The Wirtz family ( yes, all of them ) have no interest in building the game, enticing new fans to watch hockey or anything other than raping the 8 to 12,000 fans who visit the UC to watch hockey. They are a disgusting pack of wolves ( pardon the pun ) who care nothing about the game their "property" plays. They claim to care about their "season reservationists" yet once these people die or give up their "reservations", there will be no one to take their place because of the horribly bad public relations these dopes have engaged in for decades. When Gin Blossom Bill dies, you will see the kids reveal their true colors, too. They know full well how their family got rich and they will do NOTHING differently, despite public posturing to the contrary. The only hope for Chicago Blackhawks fans is that the kids decide they don't want to deal with it and sell the team to someone who gives a s***. f*** Wirtz and the beer keg he rode in on.
  20. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) how could going to a hockey game be fun RUN, FORRESTG, RUN!!!
  21. QUOTE(TornLabrum @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Hey Heads, I just thought I'd come over here just to let folks know that I tried to get the Sox ticket rep working on this on the phone today, and wasn't able to after about 4-5 tries at varioius times. He didn't get back to me, so I'm assuming that he had the day off. The last I heard from him was an email sent Friday that said he hoped to have a flyer ready to send out that day, but I didn't read the email until Saturday, so things on the WSI end have been on hold since then. Here's hoping we hear something soon. Hal Welcome to Soxtalk, Hal!!! But you know, there's a PM function for stuff like this!!!
  22. QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) According to the Air Transport Association, 2000 was the last year the airlines as a group were profitable. At the time, the average cost of a gallon of jet fuel was 78.6¢. It's now $1.75. A BUCK SEVENTY FIVE???? How come THEY get such a f***ing break on fuel prices????
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) It's also pretty amazing since you would have needed to break the wristband in order to get it off and then you can't put it back on. Ohhhh, I managed to get a couple wristbands on and off without breaking them back in the day, like the Metro drinking wristbands.... It's not easy to do, but to save the 60 bucks entry fee I'd say it's worth the effort.
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) I gambled and bought the tickets figuring of the 60+ bands there, I'd get my $$$ worth. Dino was 90% of the reason I even went, they alone were worth the $35.00. Hopefully Dino will play a small club here soon, let me know if you hear anything. I'll definitely PM you if they swing back around, but from everything I've read, this is just a "summer fling" for them and they all have projects they're working on in the fall. Sounds like a bit of a cash-grab, they've all said as much. No plans to write or record anything new. As Lou said, they wouldn't want fans yelling for the old stuff and hitting the bathroom during the new stuff.
  25. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) Musically, The Redwalls have a very mature and grown up sound. If I didn't know better, I woulda thought they were a bunch of 40 something year olds. Lyrics ae kinda fluffy, but there is promise for these guys. I'm shamelessly biased toward Chicago bands. I kinda wish I liked the Redwalls, since I work with the dad of one of them. I could become a total fanboy and hang around with them and stuff. Unfortunately, they do nothing for me.
