  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 07:09 AM) They are great at that age. The best is yet to come. :rolly First I hear about Buerhle, now you remnind me that my kid's gonna be a TEENAGED GIRL someday waaaaay too soon.....you tryin' to KILL ME?????? Just enjoying every minute right now. Not thinking about that other stuff....
  3. FWIW, they had a soundbite of Kenny saying it was a hairline fracture on AM 1000 around 9 am. It could still be something else, sure, but KW said he got that info from Herm.
  4. With many teams, if not ALL teams, there are optimistic ways to evaluate a team as well as pessimistic ways. Both can be valid. For example, the Cardinals look loaded on offense and with starting pitching, BUT if you look at them pessimistically they're a bit long in the tooth, their middle infield defense took a hit, their bullpen is thinner and their starters have injury histories. So in print that would look worrisome. I generally like the way the team has looked in spring when the guys who will go north have played, and we've already seen some depth develop in the pitching ranks ( McCarthy, Walker and so on ), so I'm leaning towards optimism.
  5. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) i guess some of you need green... i figured blatant scarsam would be enough... note taken If you'd have said "Iguchi for MVP" or "Garland wins Cy Young", THAT scarsam ( ) would have been blatant enough, but when your sarcasm is couched in a prediction scenario that otherwise looks serious ( e.g., no Brewers winning the NL Central or Tampa winning the AL East ), then people might just take you seriously. Green or a smiley would have been helpful in this particular case...
  6. I'd take UD behind the plate over LD down the line anytime, except when I have my daughter, cuz she likes to roam the concourse. Favorite attraction for a 5-year-old girl? The drinking fountains! What else would it be??? HA! I love that kid!!! She cracks me up!
  7. The Sox win the World Series without an MVP or Cy Young? Now THAT's balance!!!! As optimistic as I am about this year's Sox, I can't really see them winning "the whole f***in' thing"......I'd love love LOVE it, but I just don't see it.
  8. QUOTE(silver and black @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) critic...try to convince the crew to do another test run next weekend...It's spring break next week for me and i could probably stay up for the whole show again... I just remembered that I'm going out of town next weekend for Easter, so I won't be able to be in-studio if they do a show next Saturday. Anything I add would have to be pre-recorded or by phone. s***. I'm jonesing to go off on an Evil Stoney and SamME "Aye con say notheeen bou thaaa...." So-so rant.
  9. Cali brings some of the HEAVIEST s***! So here's what I remember sending them last Saturday: Killswitch Engage - Rose Of Sharyn In Flames - Ordinary Story Murderdolls - People Hate Me Red Tape - Stalingrad Powermad - Madhouse ( Anthrax cover ) Rise Against - Give It All I don't remember the other four songs, and I don't know what they played. I WILL see if we can do a show next Saturday, but I am a bit player here. It's the Maury & Guido show, and everyone else takes second billing.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Good lord...so what the hell did he do wrong in the yahoo contest??? Maybe he filled out a sheet picking AGAINST the teams he thought would win and that was the successful one....
  11. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) Weak ass Miller products??? Not so, not so. Miller Stadium actually has some OUTSTANDING beers at it! They had Sprechter on tap when I was last there, and some brews from Point. Sprechter is one of my fave local brews. I ended up HAMMERED the last time I went there, due to my boss buying beer after beer after beer after beer after...ya get the idea. I'll buy ya a beer when I get there. I will be family going, and driving, so I am only enjoying one that evening. But no, they actually do O.K. beer wise. Better than Comiskey Cell. Sorry brother, I just assumed they did the freeze-out thing to competing brews. I've only been there once before, so I don't know the deal. You buy me one, I buy you one, and then both of us sissies quit for the night - gotta drive the 90-minute trip home, after all.... limit. .....well, MAYBE one more than that....
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Who is maury? Maury is RedPinStripes, he runs Sox And Roll and gives VERY INSIGHTFUL color analysis.....Stone's got NUTHIN' on Maury.....
  13. Yeah, the fat bastard comes back here when he NEEDS something.... .....typical.....
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) I thought about sending music, but I wasn't sure what they wanted. Metal, punk, metal, hardcore and metal.... Guido enjoys the hip-hop, but the other guys HATE it.
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) My wife loves going to Chicago, so yes, I am admitting that under oath. I am making steps though, I was out until LATE on Friday night, and that was all spent at the bar! It wasn't even a very good bar, but they atleast had the Hack, so I was spent by 2AM. One of my wifes sisters LOVE Rob and the matchbox boys also, so she will go with her. I will be making a trip to Milwaukee soon though, but info on that sits in your email box. I have not had a Hacker in soooooooooooo long, I am truly pissed about that. Unfortunately, we will have to enjoy weak-ass Miller products on 4/1, but FORTUNATELY, we will be enjoying weak-ass Miller products on 4/1!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOO! I'll have to get the burner burnin' before then!!!
  16. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) Critic, I'm still laughing from that Sosa impression you did for SnR (have it on my computer) -- "My arm is bigger dan jew leg, okay Jose Valentin?" I was hoping to make it out to do the test broadcast last night so I could try out my new SamME lines, like: "Aye can no say notheeen bou thaaaa" "Aye can no onswer thaaa cos Aye no speek Eeeeengleeeesh thaaa goo" and my new impression - Sosa's "interpreter"!!!!!
  17. QUOTE(silver and black @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) critic, thanks for the 4 songs that you gave to the crew... they sure liked them They only got 4 of them???? I sent 10!!! ....Ah luuuuuuuuuuuuuuv mah Crapaq computer....... unless maybe they thought the other 6 were s***..... :headshake
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Yea it's weird. I haven't seen him pitch at all. Same with Buehrle, but then again, he pitches in about an hour Yep, blink and you miss it... That's actually one of my favorite things about Mark. Get it and fling it, no BS.
  19. I cannot WAIT until April 9th!!! ....no reason....
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 20, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) I'm not a Thomas fan, but somebody I am married to (that'd be my wife, for those playing along at home) will probably be there. Don't like his stuff, but there is no getting around the fact that he has a talent. The guy can write and is quite adapt at switching his style. Easyw, are you telling me you wouldn't do Rob missionary style??? Huh, I guess you have some form of respect, eh? So you are admitting under oath, Mr. Gleason, that your wife is more likely to make the trip into Chicago than you are??? My wife would maybe go to see him if she had someone to go with....that someone will not be me, however....
  21. Gold - Frank Silver - Buerhle Bronze - Shingo/Paulie (tie)
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) But thank you for not being ignorant in expressing that opinion. I try pretty hard not to s*** on others' musical taste, since I like a LOT of s*** that other people just shake their heads at. I used to be a lot worse at it, but again I think old(er) age is helping me not to take things so personally. When is the show, anyway?
  23. This is going to be an unpleasant after-effect of the whole steroid thing. Anyone who retires "suspiciously" or gets injured "suspiciously" or whose play improves or declines "suspiciously" is going to be assumed guilty of roids until proven innocent. It's too bad, but it's also understandable.
  24. QUOTE(easyw @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Rob Thomas? You might be the only one there, so I don't think it should be a problem. You'd have to pay me to see freakin Rob Thomas. That said, I don't think the Vic is nearly as good a place to see a show as the Metro or the slightly larger Riv. Luckily, after going to shows in Chicago for 20 years, I've been mostly able to avoid the Vic - the only two shows I've ever seen there were the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in 1994 (rocked) and the Finn Bros last year (sucked). The Metro is the best Chicago venue, for sure. But I think the Vic is just fine - I generally hit the balcony, but I've seen a ton of great shows there from all levels. ...and despite my agreeing with you re: Rob Thomas, the place will probably be packed to the gills. The ladies LOVE matchbox 20 and Rob in particular. I don't get it, but there ya go...
