Right there with you. No punishment is too harsh for trash who harm kids.

Cheese pizza, fish & chips, salmon, tuna casserole, pierogis with cheese/potato filling, shrimp fried rice, stuff like that. NO, not all at the same meal!!!!! ( The wife won't allow that..... )

Also bear in mind that I don't generally see bands that are very popular, and I don't like to get that close too often, so I don't usually have to worry about getting there early. I just get there early because I have a problem with getting ANYWHERE too late. Case in point: I get to work about 1/2 hour early every day....yeah, I know it's a sickness.....

WOW, Jugg, I'm glad she was okay. I'd go completely out of my mind if I couldn't find my daughter for any amount of time. This asshole who killed Jessica is the worst variety of scumbag. Destroyed so many lives for no reason at all....death is too kind for that jagoff.

If you don't mind standing there that long, there's no such thing as too early. He's pretty popular right now, so maybe there'll be some ( other ) psycho stalker ultra-fans there by 5 too..... I was giving a kind of "latest early" option. CriticCorp. assumes no liability for any poor sightlines and/or seat locations incurred by anyone following the aforementioned suggestions....

You'll need to get there pretty early if the artist you're seeing is at all popular. I like to get to shows early anyway, and there's always a line formed by the time I arrive ( I generally get there about 1/2 hour before the doors open ). It's not TOO difficult to get up close, because some people want tables, some people head for the balcony and the rest go up front. Hope that helps a little...

QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) I second that. I dont see why Frank gets a bad rap by some people. I met him numerous times. He is a great standup guy! ( I cant say that about all athletes or even sox players I met) Frank was always awesome. Well, Frank has a reputation as moody, defiant and a bit of a whiner. At least he had in the past. He has also shown an opinion that he hasn't received the attention/praise/treatment that a player of his stature deserves. Accurate or not, fans generally don't want to hear that type of talk from players. I think as Frank approaches the twilight of his Hall Of Fame calibre career, he is starting to appreciate the time he has left. When things are going smooth and easy, you have a tendency to take them for granted. But now that Frank is forced to watch as many games as he is able to play in ( or MORE ), I think the game is becoming more precious to him. I've never really doubted that Frank's heart is in the right place, he just seemed to have a knack for saying things the wrong way, and at the wrong time. But not now! He's saying the right things the right way at the right time, and I applaud him! I'll say this again - Frank Thomas is the greatest offensive force ever to wear a White Sox uniform, and I feel grateful to have seen him perform. I want to see him perform again this year and beyond.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) See, McGwire, that's not a difficult question to answer. It is if the answer damns you forever.

I trust, love and confide in my wife more than anyone I've ever had in my life. If I ever had to choose between family and her, I'd choose her, no doubt and no thought necessary. Thankfully, it will never come to anything like that. My family loves my wife and vice versa - I feel very lucky for that. EDITED to add that I've only ever been engaged to her. No other girl ever made me want to spend the rest of my life with her.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) If I didn't leave you some opennings it wouldn't be fair now would it Hmmm....making the poor spelling skills seem intentional.....very interesting tactic.....your interpreter must've whispered that in your ear.....
-
Editing your OWN witty retort to erase your OWN grammatical and/or spelling errors, though, is perfectly acceptable and encouraged.....cough cough.....heh....

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) What a scumbag. I real man would stand up and finish the joke. Witty retorts, lesson 1: Grammatical errors diminish the "sting" of an attempted witty retort. The retort ( and by extension, the "retorter" ) seem less witty if they are unable to use proper phrases and terms. Students, this WILL be on the final exam.....

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Refusing to talk about the past eh? Good move. ( Meekly nods head.....) "Uh huh....."

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) I eat like a horse..literally. Literally?? You stick your face into a bucket???? ( NOTE that I actually am not 100% sure if horses stick their faces into buckets to eat, as I am not now NOR have I ever been a horse....a pig or mule, maybe....but it sounded funny to me anyway....on the advice of my attorneys, I respectfully decline to continue this joke..... )

Billy Koch Released by Jays
The Critic replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) Billy is a stand up guy, and I wish him the best. I wish there was a place on the team for him because it seemed like he gelled with the guys despite poor outing after poor outing. Yeah, too bad the Sox don't have a cheerleading squad. I don't want him around with his poor outing after poor outing ever again. He was a stand-up guy - his pitching made the opponents laugh almost every time. I did admire the fact that he never made excuses for himself, but that's not reason enough to want him back. He can work for ESPN when Harold Reynolds finally gets a GM job.... -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) McGwire is taking a public beating after the testimony and I'm not sure its deserved. Do you believe Sosa and Palmeiro? I damn sure don't believe Sosa as he is a proven liar (leaving game early). Raffy, I'm undecided on yet. He never appeared on the steroid horizon till the Canseco book came out. Raffy seemed to be very adamant about his denial and looked right at the congressional panel as emphatically denied using. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, at this point. But, back to McGwire. The one thing you know he didn't do yesterday is lie. He said nothing of substance, so he couldn't have lied. For the moment, the panel let him get away with and did not even force him to either answer the question or invoke the fifth. I believe MM did exactly what he was told to do by his attorney, and he can't be faulted for that. The congressmen could have and should have forced McGwire to either s*** or get off the pot. I think the reason McGwire's taking so much heat is that he had made emphatic public denials about steroids, up to a day or two before the hearings, but when asked under oath, he said nothing, shook his head meekly, and didn't want to "talk about the past". Believe them or not, the others at least said SOMETHING. But for McGwire to turn into a lamb under oath is pretty damning in the court of public opinion. I know I turned to my wife and said "yeah, he definitely used"....not that I thought he hadn't.....
-
I know this probably sounds crazy, but I'd be okay with Widger as the backup. What could the Sox get for Davis, though? Utility IF? Middle relief? Prospect or two?
-
Prediction: Hall Of Fame voters to McGwire: "We're not here to talk about your past...." Ahhhh, who'm I kidding? They'll probably vote him in anyway, since he didn't admit to using steroids....

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) There were plenty of protests, and they lost. Just like there were protests against building a nuclear reactor in Zion, Il. And each time, eventually, America's overwhelming desire for batteries for our toys has won out. We are the biggest consumers of resources on the planet. I believe we have a sacred moral obligation to protect our planet for fish, fowl, and animal for ourselves and future generations. ....hippie.....

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) Did you guys know that suicide rates were so high with roid users? I knew there was a link from the WWE studies but I had no idea it was that high in withdrawal. I think the hearings are proving their worth now. I think when most of us think of roid users we think of greedy, cheaty players at whatever level they play. But the hearings are painting a different picture. This really is drug abuse that is associated with an addiction. Once you are juiced it's very hard to get un-juiced for some. Speaking of the WWE did any of you see that Real Sports special on HBO where McMahon was interviewed? The death rates & suicide rates of WWE stars in the Hogan era was alarming. I wonder if they are going to bring that up at these hearings. McMahon of course disavowed any responsibility for those deaths. One star that came to mind when I was a kid because he resembled something of a comic book character was the Ultimate Warrior. The guy never reached the age of 40. Not disagreeing with your point, Jugg, but Jim Hellwig, aka The Ultimate Warrior, is very much alive. There was a wCw lookalike called the Renegade who killed himself, some say at least in part from steroid withdrawal.

SF Chronicle calls Cubs fans racist
The Critic replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) I thought he was a god manager too, until I saw him do it first hand. That's the thing - when he was managing in SF, all we heard here was: "Players LOVE to play for Dusty Baker" but when you see him (mis)manage here, you realize that the rest of that sentence is: "...because he never holds them accountable for anything, buys into the "media is against us" conspiracy theories, and backs them even when they're dead wrong..." -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 08:36 AM) Did anyone follow this case close enough to know what got this assclown out of jail? From this article it seems like a cut and dry case, but there had to be something that brought back the not guilty from the jury, and I am really curious what that was??? The jurors really weren't saying much, from what I read, but one juror said it was the videotape itself that made them bring a not guilty verdict. That goes against the common thinking, for sure. Usually it seems that the ONLY way to get a conviction is to have video of the event.
