  1. QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) He threw a curve in Japan but it was ineffective against lefties. The press here says that it's just a modified sinker that's even slower than his normal one with more movement. He plans to keep it locked up until the season is about to start. P.S. Prize to the guy who identifies my avatar babe Former Mrs. Mongo. Former Mrs. Stone Cold. Debra McMichael Williams.
  2. QUOTE(backman @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) at least this makes sence, you can see Mcgwire on steroids, whats with congress pulling Schilling in for questioning? Same situation as Thomas - Schilling has been outspoken against steroids in the past and IMO is being brought in to make the investigation seem more balanced, so it doesn't appear to be a "witch hunt".
  3. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) ***note to self: send out LOTS of Sci-Fi soundtracks in pakage for Critic...*** Hey, by the time I get that package, I MIGHT have finally gotten into sci-fi!!! ****note to self: remember NOT to hold breath waiting for package from Kid Gleason to get here....****
  4. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) So your brother stayed up for the good Doctor I should hope. I just added some Dr. Who into my Netflix. I love that show, great stuff. Yeah, he watched it religiously and he kept trying to convince me to watch it too, but I just have never had any interest whatsoever in sci-fi at all.
  5. Never got into Dr. Who. Right to sleep after Dave. That hour of TV was just about the only thing my brother and I ever had in common. I was into sports, music and drawing and he was into science fiction, fishing and computers. Python and Dave were our only shared interests.
  6. I'd be surprised if Mac didn't use something, given how he blew up wile playing and shrunk dramatically after retiring. I'd also be surprised if anything was ever proven by means other than a dramatic Congressional Confessional.
  7. s***, that is bad news. I was a big fan of Dave Allen At Large. Used to watch him on Channel 11, Sunday nights if I remember correctly. RIP Dave.
  8. I can't tell you how happy I am to see some of the young guys looking good. Sweeney, Anderson, McCarthy, even Owens - it's got me really looking forward to them getting a chance in the bigs!! Dare I say......the kids can play.......?

    Breaking News

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Somehow this whole thing looks like it was solved a little too neatly and easily. They HAD to find a suspect within a week, or the public outcry would've been enormous. Heck even Bush was involved. If this in fact is the guy, they caught a huge break, cuz from what I've read, the killer was not sloppy. They didn't have much to go on. The killer did leave some DNA on the scene, from what I read. If this guy's DNA matches, then he was there. Whether or not he was there on the behalf of someone else, we'll never know.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) I thought the same thing. Those offspeed pitches made Joe look worse than he did last yr. that's all Joe is likely to see though if he can't make the adjustments. And if he can't hit a breaking ball, the sox should be looking for someone to take his spot midseason "Straight ball, I hit very much. Curve ball, bats are scared....." This line comes in SO handy!!!! Pedro Cerrano!!!!
  11. IMHO, Carmen Defalco >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Dave Wills. I'm a VERY happy guy if Carmen gets the job.
  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Try to imagine this scenario: Borchy hits 275, 100+RBI, 30+HR at Charlotte. As a late season call-up he puts up similar #'s with the Chi-Sox. What's his trade value worth then? I hope Sox fans will realize that all Borchy needs is to show more than glimmer of hope to other GM's that he can be the real deal & his stock will soar quickly. No GM in the league looks at him like they do other players. If Borchard hits close to 30HR after a September callup, I say we KEEP HIM!!!!
  13. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I vote for 3 in each 1/2 or 1 a month. If 1 is a sell-out then 6 should avg 30K. Think of all the dogs watching Dog Day on TV. They want to be a part of it too. They go to the game, come back home bark to their friends, & soon most dogs in Chicago are White Sox fans. I don't think it has to be on Sunday either. Not all dogs can get Sunday off. I'd like to see 2 on Sun, 2 on Fri, & 2 on Sat. Dogs are too tired to go to the games during the week I think it's good for the dogs. Gives them something to talk about while they're sniffing each other's asses. This promotion really does give the White Sox the inside track on the all-important canine demographic. The Sox can use the "doggie sellout" to get the lucrative PetCo, Scott's Pet Shop and Flea & Tick Bath advertising dollars. TAKE THAT, TRIBCO!!!!! I think it HAS to be on a weekend, though - the dog's weekdays are booked solid, what with the aforementioned ass-sniffing, along with tailchasing, slipper shredding and cat tormenting. Some dogs have to spend half their Saturdays just catching up, cuz you just KNOW there's gonna be more asses and slippers come Monday morning.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) Wood = Closer. They're reeeeeeeally gonna miss Clement if Wood goes down and Rusch was a fluke. I thought Wood would make a good closer, too, but something I heard on the radio kind of changed my mind a bit. I forget who it was, maybe Hendry, but he mentioned that it might be tougher on a guy's arm to warm up several days in a row, maybe getting into a game, maybe not, than it would just to warm up and perform every 5th day. With that in mind, moving into the closer's role might not necessarily be easier on his arm after all. That makes sense to me - warming up to enter a game has to be rougher on the arm than a side session after your regular turn in the rotation.
  15. I've seen Joe Piscopo's "comedy act" in person..... :puke :sleep Tickets were free and I STILL didn't get my money's worth....
  16. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) I know I'm new here but, since when is .281/38/112 not considered doing well. He had All Star numbers as a 24 year old you gotta think hes gonna get better or at least put up those numbers consistently, especially as a switch hitting first baseman, plus he's a pretty good fielder 24 E's in 142 games... I'm guessing that witesoxfan's "prospects" comment ( "Prospects are nothing until they come up and do well" ) was referring to the pitching prospects in the Cubs' system, which would hypothetically offset the loss of Wood. I might be wrong, but that's how I read it. And FWIW, I hang onto Kerry Wood if I'm the Cubs. They have good 1B and 3B now, and their top pitching prospects are still a year or so away. EDITED to add that I just saw wite's response clarifying his "prospects" comment, so ignore everything I said....shouldn't be hard to do.....
  17. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 10, 2005 -> 04:52 AM) If you're anywhere near these college's and you don't go, you are stupid. http://www.tourgasm.com/ Just spreading the word people... Well, color me stupid then, because while I find him to be funny enough, I don't get the same tingly feeling from him that you get....
  18. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Usually, knee problems, less than 25 years old, and catcher aren't phrases you want to hear in the same sentence. I dunno about that, how about this: "Joe Namath tried to kiss a girl who was less than 25 years old, but due to his football-related knee problems he couldn't catcher."
  19. QUOTE(3E8 @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) I hope they can find a case big enough to hold the city's combined World Series trophies!! oh.. They had a room all set up for the combined World Series trophies, but then they realized they needed a coat room...
  20. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Call me crazy, but isn't having an accurate throwing arm important to an outfielder? Accurate as an outfielder is much different than accurate as a pitcher. A cutoff man is bigger than a strike zone. I think he'll be better off making this change, since the pressure of throwing strikes obviously got to him.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 9, 2005 -> 10:06 AM) Oh no, no... Cover HER mouth with duct tape and let her feel that childs pain first hand. That's not effective if she can breathe through her nose.... ...so break her nose first. Stupid heartless b****. A slow painful death awaits her.
  22. They should have done this a long time ago. Ankiel is a good hitter. But now he'll have to work on this in the minors - if they'd done that as soon as he freaked out, he'd probably be ML ready by now.
  23. If they have a section for 16" softball and I'm not featured for my GODLIKE power, I'll be pissed off.... ...and I did it the natural way, no steroids......unless....is beer a steroid???
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) bulls***, you have to go and try them, even the papers rate them as the best. And I have brought several people over there to try them as well. You arent going to get off that easy The papers rate the Cubs as the best too, so whatchoo sayin'???
  25. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 8, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) I've scalped tickets for over face value outside Wrigley before, just gotta be real careful. Yeah, always remember to ask the buyer "You ain't a cop, right?"
