Anna Benson's Threat to her Hubby
The Critic replied to EvilJester99's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Classy, she's not. -
This just validates my opinion that the DBacks want to use Randy Johnson as a "make-good" for the Richie Sexson trade. They got fleeced by the Brewers, so now they want to fleece someone in return.

They are 1000x better than Pete MacMurray, but in my world that just means that Pete sucked 2000x... It's VERY difficult to find entertaining talk radio.....VERY difficult. The last talk/comedy radio show I can say I REALLY enjoyed ( besides Loveline, which is still available in Chicago ) is the Phil Hendrie Show. I liked Phil a lot, especially his Jim Rome and Tom Leykis bashing.

You're a wise man, Dybber....

I'll reserve judgment until I see him a little bit next year. But if his swing is "corrected" in Spring Training and he hits well there, then I don't want to hear the old "pitchers are always ahead of the hitters in April and May" or the "slow start" bulls*** if he struggles early. Basically, I don't want him to wait until June to start hitting, the way he has even in his more successful times.

It's a tough call - the market seems to be skewing slightly downward, yet Beltran is so hyped as the Premier Free Agent in this winter's market that it seems someone would overpay. I think Pedro's decision could have repercussions on Beltran's bidding. If Pedro returns to the red sox for less than the Mets offered, perhaps that sends a message that location is more important than top cash and that keeps the bidding relatively low?

I voted yes for Dybber's reasons. I hope to be wrong. Me no likey Joe Borchard.

I was going to wish for them to make the "LOOP Morning Guys" go away, but according to Robert Feder, that's probably going to happen soon on its own.

( and here it comes ) ....I don't think anything's worth waiting THAT long for..... ( BA-DUM BUM!! )

( cues up the Alan Parsons Project ) "WELL, AWWWWL RAAAAAAAAHT, EVRYBODAAAY, LESSS HEAR IT FOR THE WEDDING PAAAAARTYYYYYYY!!! AND SPEAKING OF PAAAAARRRRTAAAAAYYYY, THAT's EXAAAAACTLY WHAT WE'RE GUNNA DOOO ONCE THE DINNER IS OVERRRRR!!!!!" "AAAAAAAAAND NOW.......YOUR NEWLYWEEEEEEEEEEEEED COUPLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!!" :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke Nothing worse than that.....NOTHING......my cousin got married recently and his DJ had the stupid inflatable guitar and went out on the dance floor and "balloon solo'ed" during "Stranglehold"......Stranglehold, by the way, NOT really my first choice for a wedding reception song......but maybe that's cuz I think Ted Nugent completely, totally and eternally sucks ass.

No, not producing metal bands, supporting them. They constantly b**** and whine about how Europe is AWESOME and yet they're ignored in America. How they play large venues in Europe and clubs in America. Etc etc etc....it doesn't matter if other bands sell well, if Anthrax is ignored, then in their minds METAL is ignored. I like Anthrax a lot, but their complaints get old real fast.

ESPN is reporting this on this morning's SportsCenter. He reportedly admitted to a Federal Grand Jury that he obtained the 'roids from Barry Bonds' trainer and got human growth hormones from a San Diego gym. EDITED to clarify that this is Jason Giambi, and he admitted to using them during his AL MVP season and earlier, and that Jeremy Giambi also testified to receiving steroids from Bonds' trainer as well.

ESPN News Reports RJ Will be a Yank next week
The Critic replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
For some reason, that lineup kinda depresses me. -
Check out the loooooooooooooooooooooow number: ANTHRAX's brand new album, "The Greater of Two Evils", has sold 3,421 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "The Greater of Two Evils", available on Sanctuary Records, is a trip down memory lane, featuring 14 tracks of ANTHRAX classics, re-recorded and updated with the vocal potency of longtime singer John Bush. The entire track listing was culled from an Internet voting campaign at Anthrax.com in appreciation of their fans, and in anticipation of the band's proposed 2005 anniversary world tour. A video for an updated version of the classic cut "Deathrider" has been posted online at NuclearBlast.de (Real Media). ANTHRAX's last collection of new original material, "We've Come For You All", has sold 61,561 in the U.S. since its May 2003 release. MAN, that's a bad first week! I guess we can expect more "America sucks for heavy metal" rants from Scott and Charlie - not saying they're wrong, but they gotta get over it already. And FWIW, I thought We've Come For You All was a pretty solid record.

Boring The World....2 Eyes At A Time

Take the "most" out of that sentence and you're on the money! I'd just as soon bring a boombox to the reception and leave it at that - at least the boombox won't try ( AND FAIL! ) to be funny....
-
Yeah, there is a really good local show on Sunday nights called Local 101 ( the station is Q101, so that's why the 101 in the title ). When I heard A Life Less Frightening for the first time, I didn't even really know it was Rise Against. I was just thinking, "Whoever this is, I MUST buy their CD!" BTW, do Canadian radio and TV stations still have "Canadian content" quotas? I always thought that was funny AND yet a good idea. Make a percentage of your content local to boost local artists....smart. Just kinda hard to take when local content includes Anne Murray and April Wine....

Hey, 2k4, GROW A PAIR, WILLYA???

In keeping with my Scroogariffic attitude, Christmas songs make me nauseous.

I have a bare-bones 15 bucks-a-month plan for the Mrs. from A-Tingular. I feel that cell phones are a good invention gone horribly wrong, but the wife and kid occasionally drive up I-90 to WISCO to see her Mom, so I want her to have a phone in case of automobile breakdown. EDITED TO ADD that she keeps trying to make me do the Ultra-Retardo Move of calling her from BlockBuster - "Noooooooo, Honey, they DON'T have The Bourne Identity, what else do ya want me to look for????" :rolly - but I STAY STRONG and refuse to do that s***.

Ahhhhhh, the Odeum..... I remember when the Dudleyz tore into that Hogan wannabe who went to every show. They gave it to him kinda like the way they abused the fat guy on the DVD, but 10 times worse. Ripped into the guy's girlfriend until she cried, then Bubba screaming at him, "GET IN HERE AND KICK MY ASS, HOGAN! DEFEND HER HONOR...IF SHE HAS ANY!!! COME ON, HOGAN!!! YOU'RE GONNA LET ME TALK THAT WAY TO HER??? WHAT KIND OF MAN ARE YOU???" ....pure comedy gold....
-
Actually, no. I liked Rise Against before, but not enough to buy a CD. Then I heard "Life Less Frightening" and "Give It All" on Local 101 and I HAD to get this disc!
-
I bought myself almost everything I would've wanted for "Holiday" - can't say Christmas anymore, it's too culturally insensitive - so I don't know what anyone would get for me. Since last Monday, I've gotten myself: The DVD box of the British comedy series "Bottom" "The Rise and Fall of ECW" DVD Megadeth - The System Has Failed CD Rise Against - Siren Song for the Counter Culture CD I'm hoping that if I get anything - and I really don't care if I do or don't, I'm a classically trained Scrooge - I'd get Best Buy or Tower Records gift cards.

#4 starter... not for the Sox either
The Critic replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Sad part is, their 5th starter ( J. George ) will probably do as well as any White Sox 5th starter.... -
Doesn't matter. It's a non-issue to me. But whatever - if they change them or not, it's all the same to me. I'm happy that they got rid of that horrific roof - now THAT was a f***in' eyesore.
