  1. This is really awful. Stupid and pointless. Needless grief for the families of everyone involved.
  2. I don't see how this is racist. I take the term "vanilla" to mean bland, flavorless, inoffensive and dull. And I agree. They wanted someone they could trust to not push ANY envelope whatsoever.
  3. In the words of Phil Hartman as Ed McMahon: "FARTS = FUNNY, YES, SIR!"
  4. Well, we are the guage of morality and the only acceptable model of democracy for the entire world, so.....why not?????
  5. I'd still take the over, since you'd probably Gage the site trying to ban me.... Sorry about the use of the term "Gage", there, Jaesunn....
  6. Problem is, if the Sox are gonna deal PK and JG, they'll most likely be looking to LOSE payroll in the process. Doesn't matter anyway, IMO, because I can't imagine that the Sox will be on RJ's approved list.
  7. s***....at what age do you finally put the cock in mothballs? Well, at least at 86 he'll finally find out what prison anal rape feels like....that'll be a new "sexual education" for him, and it's "culturally accepted" in prison so I'm sure he'll be up for it....

    Thanksgiving

The Bears should try eating the footballs... I'm hosting this year - but not the entire family. All the kids usually do the "in-laws" thing, with one of us including our Mom. This year I'm hosting my Mom, the Mom-In-Law and probably my brother and his wife, in from St. Louis. EDITED to add: FIVE. DAY. WEEKEND. b****ES! Weekend starts Tuesday night and ends on Monday!!!!
  9. Good luck on that FLA - I saw that Good Eats episode and I was droooooooooooling.... Good Eats, by the way, one of my favorite shows on TV - funny, informative in more ways than one, and usually VERY drool-inducing. My favorite T-Day food is of course, THE BIRD. And my mother-in-law makes a sweet corn casserole that is awesome!
  10. Probably not. I pick-and-peck. I can do it pretty fast, AND without having to back up and correct myself much, but those typing tests are BIASED against the pick-n-peck crew!!
  11. I THINK IT'S EXCITING CUZ IT'S ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS!!!! I'm not overly thrilled about the moves you listed. Dye is too similar to the type of player we've had on the Southside already. I'd prefer to get a leadoff guy to play RF or get one to play CF and move Rowand to RF. Clement is a mystery - solid pitcher, no doubt, but seems to get hurt or fade late in the season. Dotel strikes me as a better 8th inning guy than a closer, and I'd hope the Sox could get more in trade for Paulie than him.
  12. I do. I look for ss2k4 to pick a winner in any sport and I bet the other way. I'M CLEANING UP!!!!
  13. I hereby temporarily hijack this thread... I like John Bush on the CDs, but I find him to lack something live. He's not really very charismatic, his voice is weaker live than on the discs and he ab-so-LUTE-ly cannot hit the high notes necessary on the Belladonna-era songs! He just screams like his leg is caught in a bear trap. For this reason, I have NO interest in hearing The Greater Of Two Evils. I'd rather they re-record those songs with Joey on vocals, since recording processes have gotten MUCH better since the 80's and the guys in 'Thrax are much better musicians than they were back then ( and they were pretty damn good back then, IMO ).
  14. I have hope ONLY if Carl is working out like a madman. He's not getting any younger and he's had injury problems. I'd like him as an option, but maybe not as the main option.
  15. Nahhh, I've never subscribed and I don't buy the swimsuit issue. If I want to see booooobeeeees, I know of better places to look....
  16. Unless Jurassic comes into camp in MUCH better shape than last year, a Carl/Gload platoon scares the hell out of me in RF. Gload MIGHT grow into a half-way decent outfielder in time, but I don't want him learning the job at the ML level.
  17. Lowe and Cabrera? I'd like that very much, actually. If they could land those two and find a decent RF, ( I'd prefer a speedy OBP guy over another thumper ), I'd feel like it was a successful off-season.
  18. You deal with that from a 40+ HR guy, not from a guy who can't stay on a major-league roster consistently. Dunn is worth the K's right now, but that will become a MAJOR problem for him if his power totals ever slump.
  19. That wasn't really the topic, but the answer is zero. They won a division with a pretty good-looking team in 83 - good balance of speed and power and a strong starting staff - but it derailed in the ALCS. Injuries, etc. crumbled that team and it's never really been the same. The point of my earlier post was, let's see if Moreno is still as aggressive in free-agent pursuits after 20+ years of ownership. Or if he's still even their owner.... BTW, even though I like John Bush's voice better, Anthrax wrote better songs when Belladonna was their singer.
  20. Sad then, that a miracle's what it would take to land Beltran, isn't it? The Angels were in a COMPLETELY different situation than the Sox. Aggressive new owner trying to impress his team's fanbase. Kinda like the early 80's, when a couple of brash new owners waltzed into Chicago and brought in Carlton Fisk and Greg Luzinski....
  21. Yeah, basically it means that they hired him for two jobs without knowing/asking/caring about his past until it was brought up publicly.
  22. But SI does a MUCH better job than TSN at selling tits and telephones....
  23. Hey, Kid, you think like I do that the guitarist has a definite Ginger thing going on with that look?
  24. I'm afraid the dream is dead regarding Beltran. The Alex Escobar Era is upon us, people!!!! ( Take that how you will... )
  25. True, but I really don't know if they're going to look in that direction. I HOPE they do, cuz I have NO idea who can play RF right now that I like, but I get the idea that Oz is less-than-pleased with Willie and would prefer to let him ride pine.
