  1. Supposed to get into the 60's again on Wednesday, though...
  2. I made no such inference, and if that's the way you took it, that's your deal. I am referring to the fact that it was reported in the news at all, not specifically here. EVERY story about one of these monsters being caught is a good thing, if for no other reason that to re-emphasize the need for parents to keep a sharp eye on their kids for any changes in their behavior that might suggest that something is wrong. As for your statement that no one can relate to it "unless of course your child has been molested due to your bad parenting", way to place the blame on the parents of victimized children. That's a stupid statement on a lot of levels and you should be ashamed of yourself. Maybe instead of "relate" I should have said "sympathize" - maybe then you wouldn't make such a retarded leap as to suggest that I'm a bad parent whose kid was molested, simply because I thought of what a horror that would be if it happened to my kid. I'm glad at least that you understood the part about this being a non-sports board, because you COMPLETELY misread the rest of my post.
  3. Personally, I'm a HUGE fan of Luis Gonzalez, but I completely understand your point. But I resent the implication that PK wouldn't be a HUGE DRAW in Arizona!!!!
  4. This kind of stuff, and that type of person, NEEDS to be brought to the light of day. The WORST thing for other potential victims is for this type of activity to go unreported. And if you mean, why HERE?, I'd say that (1) because it's the non-sports-related board and (2) because some people on the board have kids and can relate to the pain that family is suffering right now. I'd rather know and be outraged than not know and have that molester hide in the shadows.
  5. Wow, that's truly awful. And the agent's wife can't really say anything either, without endangering her marriage and the agent's career, if she even knows about it - that stinks. ...I was HOPING I was kidding about those chores...
  6. Ahhhhh, I can hear it now.... "WARE EEZ DEE LOAVE?" "DEY NO RESPECK MEE AFTUR ALL AYE DOO FOR DEM!" please please please let him stay.....
  7. Just a guess here, but maybe LA would rather commit to 2 years of that kind of money rather than 7-10 years of that kind of money? I know I'm not alone when I say this: Whatever it takes to keep The Sensitive Aging Shrinking Moody Bitter Cheating Gladiator in Wrigley Field is OK by me. If he's there in 2005, you CANNOT BUY that kind of entertainment!!!! THE STRIKEOUTS! THE HOP, FOLLOWED BY A WARNING-TRACK FLYOUT! THE ANGRY QUOTES!! THE DUGOUT SPATS!! THE SALSA MUSIC....FROM A BRAND NEW BOOMBOX!!!!!
  8. Agents also do the following for their clients: Charge their cell phones Detail their cars on Sunday afternoons ( but ONLY if it's nice outside ) Call their Moms on Mother's Day Buy AND check their Lotto tickets Change the ink cartridge in their fax machines Scratch that hard-to-reach spot on their lower back Pick their kids up from school Chew their food for them and feed it to them like a baby bird ...and, of course, other LESS important tasks as necessary... So as you can see, a 10% commission is a pretty good bargain for the client!
  9. I see no problem with a walkout. Even if it's sour grapes, it's still OK in my book to express your disappointment. This is still America, where we supposedly have freedom of expression even if your opinion doesn't agree with the majority.
  10. .290/38/106 ...and the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award....
  11. IMO, it makes the Yankees look STUPID to pay Lieber to get healthy and then after he comes back and pitches well, they decline his option and try to cheap him. Makes me wonder why they made that deal in the first place. As I said in earlier threads, I'd LOVE to see Jon Lieber on the White Sox. He's not Randy Johnson, but all he'd cost is money.
  12. I also think it's a bit too much to give for one player, especially depending on the number and quality of prospects involved. Johnson is Arizona's last really big bargaining chip, so I think they may to restock their minors at the Sox's expense. I hope KW doesn't fall for it. RJ's got too many miles on him to make this trade - I can just see it now....."Johnson to DL with back/elbow/shoulder injury".....
  13. I think I'd put him ahead of Madritsch, but still rank him 3rd.
  14. While I don't think he should win it, I don't think it's a joke to consider him. As long as being a rookie means being in your first year of MLB, then he should be considered. He had a damn good year and that shouldn't be overlooked.
  15. Kinda defeats the purpose of a protest if you don't leave a note.... Very sad that they guy didn't value his own life more than that, though.
  16. but not until there's only 5 or 10 seconds left...

    Gay Marriage

Because everything lately is "us against them" and if you make "them" seem too much like "us", then "we" wouldn't have an opponent to beat and feel superior to. That's why "they" can maybe have their civil unions.....MAYBE....but they can't have "OUR" word MARRIAGE. Who Wants To Marry A Millionaire = okay. Wife Swap = okay. Drive-Thru wedding chapels = okay. 50% divorce rate = okay. 7, 8, 9 marriages for one person = okay. Gay marriages????? NOT okay.
  18. Did HE strike out in his next 7 at-bats, too? Oh wait, that's right - he's MUCH MUCH better than Joe Borchard.
  19. HAHAHAHA.... NOOOOOooooo..... I used to go down to the friendly neighborhood saloon to watch the HawkVision playoff games I didn't go to live with some buddies - and even the bars were packed to the gills during the early 90's playoff runs. Those were some good times - Hawks had really good teams, seemed like everyone was into hockey, there were LOTS 'N' LOTS of hot women at the old Stadium for Hawk games......ahhhh yesssss......gooooood times indeed......
  20. Maybe there is someone out there who can do similar things, and maybe that someone might cost a little less, but "Big Dust" has a history with Neifi, and like Jeckle said, Perez impressed Cub mgmt. last year, getting some big hits for them and playing some reliable shortstop while their BIG ACQUISITION Nomar rested his various injuries. I just don't think it's an outrageous deal at all, given their payroll.
  21. That's actually not a bad move. Perez is a reliable backup infielder, and I doubt that they're thinking of him as a starter at short.
  22. Do you mean "California Penal", as in Major League? Rick Vaughn? Just wondering, cuz that's what it sounds like you're going for...and if so, a FINE choice of movie references! and I don't know about you, but I'd take Aramis Ramirez to play 3B for the Sox despite the goofy outift he's been forced to wear the past year-and-a-half....
  23. I often forget what a "little shaver" you are, Show! I remember how jealous my co-workers were when I had Hawk season tickets for the last 2 seasons at the old Stadium. There used to be SUCH a buzz among the fans walking into the place, and the atmosphere for every game was just awesome. Used to see tickets being scalped for ridiculous prices on the street right outside the building. It was absolutely THE place to be in Chicago sports. ...seems like 100 years ago sometimes, the way hockey's fallen off the map around here....
  24. I agree with YASNY. To win 14 games in his "recovery year" was impressive. Plus, Lieber's a solid professional who doesn't make excuses or throw teammates under the bus when he has a bad outing or some bad luck. He's a solid pitcher and a stand-up guy, and I wish the Sox had him. I think he'll have some loyalty to the Yankees since they were the only ones to sign him when they knew he'd miss at least a year. I'd be surprised if they didn't have the framework of a deal already in place. The Yanks have to clear up some Beltran Money somehow, right?
