  1. Personally, I think an "MVP" chant for Willie, Borchard or any other mediocre player would be pretty hilarious.
  2. And a couple more things: 1. Why the hell didn't the Spankees try bunting at all to make Schilling field the ball? He'd have to push off that ankle on the wet grass and maybe he tweaks it, and it's a whole different situation. where's that HEADY, WISE VETERAN LEADER Derek Jeter when they need him? 2. I had to turn my radio off this morning because I was afraid that if I left it on for one more minute, Mike Greenberg's jizz was gonna start oozing out of my speakers. He was talking like this game tonight is the single most important EVENT ( not just sporting event ) in the history of mankind. Damn, GET OFF IT, Greenberg! :banghead
  3. Kudos to the Boston American League Ballclub for forcing Game 7. Gutsy performance by Schilling - Lieber, too, for that matter, but Jon had the one bad 1/3 of an inning ( he had gotten the first 2 guys out before the 4-spot ). While too many of their fans are insufferable martyrs, the team itself if hanging in there and playing HARD. I did see that some Boston fan had stolen Dusty Baylor's "Why Not US?" slogan for a poster.....I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.... It is nice to see the noose tightening around the Spankees' necks - we'll see if those "ghosts" that Jeter talks about will show up at Spankee Stadium tonight. If they do, maybe they can swing the bat for him - isn't he supposed to be this "big-game player"? Batting under .200 with a couple of errors in the ALCS ain't exactly CLUTCH. I'll be out of town until Friday, but in my absence I say.... GO GO NO ONE!!!!
  4. Yep, you're right again - in 2000, I was praying into my hat, murmuring "pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease" and I just started CRYING and CRYING and CRYING and CRYING when the Sox were eliminated. And then I blew up a little toy boat to erase the "Mariner Curse" and I hung a Jerry Dybzinski doll in effigy to erase the "Curse Of The Dybbino" and all kinds of other cuddly curse rituals. No jealousy whatsoever, just pointing out jackassedness where I see it...
  5. You're right - I didn't see that on TV and it's not Cublike at all.....
  6. Another factor to ELo looking good was the fact that they were gunning his fastball at 94mph again. If he's got his velocity back, then the cutter is more effective again and he can get guys out more consistently. He looked real good - can't say the same for Gordon. That looked like the "Trash Garbage" version of Tom Gordon.
  7. Only on the north side of Chicago will you see fans more in love with failure.
  8. I saw some dips*** doing the "prayer hands" under his chin and mouthing "pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease" like a tard.... ...yeah, that doesn't look Cublike AT ALL.... I didn't realize that loving baseball meant having to put myself through the Misery Crew's entire playoff run. HA.
  9. ^^ this. Clemens needs his full rest - no sense wasting him when he's iffy.
  10. Entertaining No-one Eternally Nauseating Essentially Needless Can you tell I'm not a fan?
  11. There's nothing wrong with speculating if you want to, I personally don't want to waste my time thinking about something that has zero chance of happening. The way Beltran's playing in the postseason, on top of his overall talent and youth, guarantees that SOMEONE will outbid the Sox if they choose to make an offer at all. Not gonna rant about it, but I will state my opinion even if it's not "playing along". That's the nice thing about message boards, all opinions carry the same weight - which is to say, very little weight.
  12. OR EVEN A HOME RUN!!!! That is SOLID analysis - sure, an 8-year-old could tell you the same things, but still, it's SOLID!!!!
  13. ^ ^ This. Every hit Beltran delivers on the national stage increases his asking price. The White Sox will not sign Carlos Beltran no matter who they trade to clear salary. It's a fun dream, but I think that's all it is.

    Beer

I enjoy the taste of Hacker Pschorr beer. It's a German weisse beer, and it's got a fairly sweet flavor, which is enhanced nicely by the requisite lemon slice. and Budweiser is sewer water.
  15. If you can't see the similarities between the Cubs and the Red Cubs, you're not paying attention.
  16. Sportswriters have to find ways to fill up their columns, so a non-story is better than no story, I guess....
  17. WATCH YOUR STEP, NEWBIE!!!!!! By the way, green is the color of sarcasm, so if you see something in green, take it with a grain of salt. and WELCOME!
  18. Hey, whenever my vision is f***ed up, I always give it a year to clear up, then I start to really get concerned.... "Thrown with great force"...what a stupid greedy f***up.
  19. 7-2-0-1 the past 10 home openers. Only Steve Maltais has scored any goals for them so far. Maybe I'm over-reacting, and I hope I am, but like I said, it's less about the losses as it is how bad they've looked.
  20. They're still trying to find an insurance company willing to insure Chelios for his $2.5 mil Red Wing contract. If they can find one, he'll play. If not, I guess he'll keep bobsledding. And I guess I wouldn't be AS concerned if they didn't look so helpless on offense in the two games. They had a lot of power plays and looked absolutely Hawk-like, dumping and chasing on the power play. They can't really sustain pressure in the zone and did a lot of one-shot-and-out.
  21. They're a little starved for offense right now. 2 goals on Friday in a 4-2 loss to Milwaukee and one goal at home by Grand Rapids, 5-1 final. Jud Sirott just said it was the worst Opening Night home loss in team history. 15,000+ showed up - I hope the Wolves are not gonna do like the Sox did this summer and always seem to blow in front of big crowds.
  22. Looks like the Evil Empire is going to represent the AL in the World Series yet again. Fenway Pahhhhk is SILENT right now. If Boston goes down 3-0, forget it. They're dead.
  23. Hey, Nuke, While the post was mostly sarcastic, I am pissed that the owners and players can't figure out a way to solve their dispute, and more pissed that they're not even trying. I'm not upset about the SlackHawks not playing, except that they finally do seem to have a few young players worth watching ( and yes, I DO realize that we'll only see them in Chicago until it's time to pay them ). I AM upset about not seeing the Red Wings, Lightning, Flyers, Bruins, etc etc etc. I love hockey, and I WANT to see NHL hockey. I'll always watch the Wolves, but I'd like to have more hockey on TV. It's not as if ESPN is going to start showing the AHL Game Of The Week.
