  1. I'd be pretty satisfied, I guess, but I've been conditioned over the years to expect no one to willingly play for the White Sox. I'd rather they get a speedy middle infielder, but I'd settle for AJ I suppose.
  2. Well, they're definitely still under contract until MLB makes some sort of decision to contract or eliminate the ExpoNationals. Wherever MLB decides to place them, the guys would have to play there. It's only at contraction time that the validity of the contracts comes into question. And DC still has until New Year's Eve to iron out a stadium agreement, as bleak as that situation seems. Makes me kinda wish I'd purchased a Nationals hat, as a momento.
  3. Yep, no use crying about it now.
  4. IIRC, he wasn't happy about the idea of platooning with Todd Walker last year. He'd be a bad idea, IMO.
  5. Yeah, Nuke, it'll be something like "The Blizzard of 2004" with "continuous coverage" consisting of the lame-ass weather-guesser talking about weather patterns and flipping a coin as to whether or not this particular storm will hit or not. Already I've heard that Chicago will get smacked by the storm that dumped 2 feet of snow on Michigan City, In and then heard that Chicago will get "flurries".
  6. God damn, I miss Audiogalaxy. That place had f***in' EVERYTHING and was lightning-fast. After that one got torpedoed, I really stopped downloading for the most part. Now I basically just go to band websites and some music-related sites like epitaph.
  7. I think he just snuck that one in there cuz it's fun to say. Go ahead.....say it......come onnnnn.....you know you want to......SAY IT......
  8. I'll start a poll for you to ask what 2 + 3 is then, since you like to have to think about your answer.....
  9. Changed the line for you, to make it rhyme.....and added a second verse....you're welcome..... The weather up north is frightful But here, it's so delightful; Since it won't affect where I go, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow . . . Oh, into the ditch they're glidin', and there's lots of cars collidin', If the casualty rates stay low, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snooooowww......
  10. Man, I'd punch myself in the face if I ever said any of those nicknames out loud! EL ZIPPO??? Maybe after an 0-for-4 day....
  11. So you're saying that the Sox getting the stadium deal in the late 80's ( and therefore avoiding the move to St. Petersburg ) caused the Cubs not to win anything for the past 15 years or so? ......nice.......
  12. I'd think that the Mont/DC contracts are still binding, since the other MLB owners own the ExpoNationals anyway. The Devil Rays, however, are privately owned, so that could get sticky. It'll be interesting, to say the least - Peter The Gerbil's head would explode from all the moves.
  13. He'll just peel all those oranges and sled on the peels....
  14. Yeah, I'd assume that there'd be a draft....after the Yankees, Red Sox and Cubs had their pick of the rosters, of course...don't have a clue what the draft order would be, but I'd guess won-lost record of the previous year, worst to best. And I've been reading a lot of stories saying that the owners definitely have a hard-on to contract next year because of the clause in the CBA that allows them to do so without the players' consent. The ExpoNationals would be gone, along with ( most likely ) Tampa Bay. Of course, the Sox would probably only wind up with a reserve infielder and a middle reliever anyway, so no looking ahead to the savior, okaaaaaayyy???
  15. If Dye plays I go with: Pod LF Rowand CF Dye RF If Everett plays: Everett LF Pod CF Rowand RF If Timo plays: Pod LF Rowand CF Timo RF If Gload plays the outfield.....I drink heavily....
  16. "Bears" and "playoffs" should not be used in the same sentence. Unless that sentence is: "The Bears won't make the playoffs" or "I hope the Bears players enjoy the playoffs on TV" That "offense" is embarrassing.
  17. I've heard Portland and Vegas. Although the big rumor is that they'd let them barnstorm one more year then contract them. Supposedly that would save the owners more money than any other scenario.
  18. I hear it's gonna blast Chicago tomorrow. Snow bites ass. I'd rather it be 20 below than snowing, I don't have to shovel cold weather.
  19. Once again, Tex, you nailed it. Except that it's not so much a "march" towards 100 title-free years, it's more of a drunken stumble...
  20. Who???? I guess I blanked on that because I'm totally against the retiring of numbers. Remember the player, not the number, IMO.
  21. Apparently Mac Jurko & Harry have taken to calling him Podzilla, but it's too corny for me. If I nickname him at all, it'll probably be Pods. ...or "good ol' number (whatever number they give him)"....I still say 11 for him.
  22. "I say, I say - A SPOON, son....don'tcha get it?????"
  23. Exactly the same two who came to mind for me, B-Mac more than Escobar since the OF seems to be set.
  24. Whether or not it's reality that the Sox aren't committed to winning, it's definitely the perception around baseball, so that does make it that much harder to convince free agents to join them. If the Sox had been able to win their division either of the last 2 years, that perception would probably have changed and more players would've been more likely to join the Sox. It doesn't take much to change the perception, but winning something is key.
  25. Good choice, although Foley has to work WAAAAAAAY too hard when saddled with Homer Tallon. That assbag Tallon is SUCH a homer, he makes Harry Caray sound like he was rooting for the Mets!
