I'd like them to keep Willie around as a backup 2B/CF and pinch-runner, but I wonder if he'd sulk on the bench. A younger guy isn't always accepting of that role, even if that role is the only thing keeping him on a major-league roster ( and drawing major-league paychecks ).

Has Alou EVER played RF before? IIRC, his arm is not that strong. WOW, that outfield is gonna suck defensively. Surprised a bit that he wound up with Daddy, he had a 9 mil offer from the Mets on the table. Wonder if he took a "Daddy Discount"?

I'm not happy about any of the Magglio situation, but I am sort of relieved that the Sox didn't take an expensive gamble on him, given the injury situation. It still sucks that it had to end like that - I liked him very much as a White Sox player.

On both CBS2 and CLTV, while reporting on a woman being attacked in Wrigleyville, they actually referred to the neighborhood as Wrigleyville, and made several mentions of the crime occuring "practically in the shadow of Wrigley Field". I thought it was interesting, since the neighborhood is usually Lakeview when bad things happen. Prayers go out to the poor victim - she was dragged off the street into her own apartment, where she was sexually assaulted for FOUR HOURS. She's expected to make a full physical recovery - I'm sure the mental recovery will be much more difficult....

We have a "Holiday House" on my block. The people there overdo every "decorating" holiday - 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas. My daughter loves it, but I, being The Curmudgeon that I am, don't.

Actually, I base my shopping tendencies on convenience, price, selection, etc. I'm not gonna drive 50 extra miles because the douchebag who runs the local shop donates to the "other" political party. ...except for Y'All-Mart, I hate that place, and I don't care if they had the thing I wanted at the best price. I became nauseous whenever I've gone into that hellhole. Sam's Club, on the other hand....that's OK by me.....go figure.....
